The number of historical exaggerations and just plain naccuracies here are incredible. If Antonia Fraser, the author of Marie Antoinette the Journey saw this, she would be very bothered by it. Provence's wife Marie Josephine never had a child. It was Artois's wife Marie Therese, the younger sister of Josephine, (Artois was the younger brother of Louis and Provence) who had the first child of the next generation, and it was in 1775 more than a year after Louis XV had died. The wrong details of the feud between Marie and Madame du Barry are beyond laughable. Yes, there was a feud, and yes there were potential political repercussions between France and Austria because of it, but give me a break with the scene with Louis XV kidnapping Marie in the carriage to threaten her and then having her thrown out of it. The true story of Marie is an incredible one. Read Antonia Fraser's book to learn the facts of a very carefully researched biography. Please, her story is not the 1980s Dynasty with Alexis and Krystle or the never ending Kardashians,..........or, the Bidens for that matter. The other, 2006 movie, also had historical inaccuracies for " dramatic purposes, " but not to the extent this has. The historical truth of Marie Antoinette's life had enough drama that more does not have to be added. For example, what happened to 3 of her 4 children is very sad and tragic. What happened to her confidant Axel de Ferson 17 years after she was executed is as bad as what happened to her dearest friend the Princess Lambelle the year before in 1792. And her own death at the hands of people who falsely accused her of things that are beyond belief. And for those who do not know, Madame du Barry suffered the same fate as Marie, her husband Louis and his sister. I remember reading what it took out of Antonia Fraser to write that book. So much happened. Enjoy and learn about history but do not think it was quite like this.
