FINALLY, SOMEONE MADE A TUTORIAL!!! I've wanted to know how to make these for a while, but no one had a video on how they were made, just showcases, so thank you for stepping up! My question now is why this works... hmmm...
this works because there are two bearings counter rotating, to then the controller is a angle limiter. and on the electric engine the bearings are also counter rotating but there's a parent and child problem going on that makes it as though its a free spinning bearing until you turn the engine off. you can also do this with a gas engine.
@@_Dynamation_ So if I'm understand you right, then the electric engine allowing the bearing to free spin is the game not knowing which part is actually attached, so it either free spins or stays rigid with on or off signals; and the controller does the same thing, but it stops at the set angle instead of free spinning continuously?
@@ShawnF6FHellcat no, not really. how the game works is it thinks the left pipe is the parent of the pipe on the right, but the pipe on the right is also parented to the one on the left, if you separate the two and have one bearing on one pipe on opposing sides, you'll see what's happening. the game thinks they are parented and childed to each other. separate the two bearings so there's on bearing on either side and and place blocks on them on a platform and you'll see that with a controller it limits the angles and with the electric engine it dree spins. ps. i don't really know how to describe how do things in text but i hope you understood what i mean.
@@_Dynamation_ I understand what you're saying, but I'm just having a hard time visualizing it without going into the game and testing it. You're description is fine, it's my lack of the technical knowledge that's causing confusion, which just means I need to spend some time in Scrap Mechanic. Thank you for explaining the concept to though, not many people go beyond just a tutorial, so I appreciate it!
Hwy I am messing with this right now and it’s not fixed. I had a similar problem. If you hook an engine to both bearing it should work. If it doesn’t try swapping the direction of the bearings. Mine is always swap the direction of the front bearing facing your load
this is probably patched cause I was watching like five times and doing it exactly like you did. EDIT: ah damn this only works in creative oh well I guess I will stick to the good old way of pipes and a piston
