Okay that may be the case but he brought in two guys who were experts and the main sports commentators FOR THE TEAMS THE SEGMENTS WERE ABOUT. These big time commentators are very entertaining, but their knowledge of individual teams that aren’t the year-in and year-out contenders is very limited. He may be friends with them, but this is a good decision to make. Don’t hate on it just because it’s Nick.

Nic wrong on this one, Russells problems in Denver last year weren’t about performance. Him and the coach just didn’t see eye to eye on other issues. Russ was a top 5 to 10 qb last year based on stats and win streak.

@@GAMBY77gj there’s not one stat that justifies that ludicrous statement you made about him being even a top 10 let alone top 5 qb in the league. He was 19th in passing yards. He threw for 200 yards a game. And he had a qbr of 50.7 21st in the league. His team went 8-9. 15-20 qb at best.

@@CasperX22: They wanted to tank this past season! They didn’t pay money to let him go away. They paid so he won’t make them win too many games in 2025, and they can get a top-5 pick! Plus, Payton doesn’t know how to coach to Russ’s skill set, which tells you that he’s not a real coach. Even he admitted that Russ still has plenty of gas left in his tank. Russ’s release has nothing to do with Russ’s abilities.

@@matthewwilliams9890: You want Russ’s stats? He was top-5 in passer rating for most of the season and finished with a 99 or 100 passer rating for the season with ONE viable target: Sutton. . He had the Broncos at #1 in red zone efficiency until about week 13. He completed 66% of his passes, which is his career average. He had 26 TDs and 8 INTs, for a 3:1 TD-INT ratio, which was also one of the tops in the league. That was in 15 games. Two more games and he hits 30, which is his career average and n a 16-game schedule, skewed downward by 2022 and 2016, his two injury seasons. He made 4 of the five least probable pass completions of the season! He rushed for nearly 350 yards in 15 games played, which scales to 400 rushing yards over a 17-game schedule. So we know his legs still work. There are plenty of stats showing that Russ is still that dude, and he did all of this with a coach who hated on him and went against him the entire season. Consider also that he led the Broncos to wins during the meat of their schedule, against teams everyone expected to beat the Broncos.

The Bears won 7 games last year and just significantly upgraded their offensive weapons to go along with a defense that was top 10 last year. Bears have a playoff roster.

@@SpaceGhost92 also, I’d like to point out the Bears haven’t made any splash moves outside of the Allen trade. Swift is 3 years 24 million, Everett is 2 years at 12, everybody else is low level contracts that won’t break the bank. It’s just been smart moves that are clear upgrades

Mahomes is the greatest quarterback playing currently, but the main point is still the same. Without Chris Jones and the Chiefs defense stymieing the 49'er offense in the second half, the Chiefs would not have been close enough for a comeback.

I rarely disagree with Nick but I see being Russ better next year or at least have a better season. Actual production last year, change of scene, being humbled, Pittsburgh culture. Haircut. As many have said, adding the local talent is a very nice touch.

The Bears are not even offering Fields in any trade. The media is clueless. The Bears are stacked on both sides of the ball as of yesterday. They are not going to give this veteran team over to a rookie. The media makes up scenarios as they speak. I'm sure the Falcons, Steelers, and every other team needing a QB reached out to the Bears about a trade, and Poles listened. But that was it. Williams hasn't played one down in the NFL and is already an anointed savior. So many number-one overall QBs in the past 25 years have been just as hyped, and other than Payton Manning, all the others were disappointing, to say the least. Do the math. The Bears now have only four draft picks going into the draft. Two of them are top ten including the number one overall. The Bears are deciding right now what draft compensation offer to accept before trading the number one pick. That is the only thing that makes any sense. Then these same sports talk shows will praise the Bears for what they get back in draft compensation. Who knows, maybe next years overall number one.
