Gotta love the meta humor from Mainframe Entertainment. I mean, you should see their dislike for ABC and its Broadcast Standards and Practices censor division from their other animated masterwork ReBoot (alongside ABC shelving the show during the S2 tenure after its Disney buyout back in the day).
@@HORRIOR1 The only beast modes shown to be the same size as the actual animal were Tigatron and Cheetor. By your logic, Rattrap, Waspinator, Tarantulas, etc. were itty-bitty.
@@HORRIOR1Beast modes didn't alter the size their robot nodes already were, it basically just slapped an organic armor over their robot nodes, reguardless of the actual animals size. Though I will admit at times the show completely ignored continuity in their sizes. Tigertron and Airazor were shown to be pretty much the same height in robot mode yet when she's riding on tigertrons back during the floating island arc in their beast modes she seems much smaller. Also Optimus grows in size closer to an autobot when he takes Prime's spark into himself but Megatron doesn't seem to do the same when he takes his ancestors spark as in the next episode he still fits perfectly into his command chair on the darksyde before it gets destroyed.
Dinobot sacrificing himself and saving the early humans was probably the greatest episodes in this series. He is still my favorite character of all time
0:25 "That shit wasn't built, it was poured" "Diecast construction, it's a lost art". A reference to the G1 action figures. Actually there have been some other series as well that had diecast too, like Binaltech and Masterpiece.
BW Megatron was never Megatron or anything like him. Its a name he gave himself. It wasn't a nickname anyone gave him for the way he was. He was always a fanboy. I'm glad he was reduced to someone who was a hero worshiper. G1 Megatron even told him to change his name to something else.
@@allhailme8457 i disagree. BW megatron did put G1 megatron on a pedestal, but it was never his entire personality. He hates how big and wasteful G1 bodies were for energon usage and that includes megatron. He follows what was written on the golden disk, but its for his purpose of changing the future and getting rid of autobot/maximals. Hes basically G1 megatron if he chose to really cross the line and follow through. Ravage is sent to arrest him for that reason
Would have been hilarious if Megatronhad blown OP's head up...only to discover that in the new timeline the Deceps (and the Preds) were in an even worse situation, due to the leadership of Wheelie or something. :-)
Wouldn’t be that surprising. Once Optimus died and leadership was passed to rodimus, the autobots did a lot better. They managed to take cybertro and establish peace treaties
@@williamnguyen8663 Well, since at that point Megatron was effecively gone as a menace (and Galvatron was just a wacko), there wasn't much of a problem there.
@@VulpisFoxfire the decepticons were still a problem, and considering megatron shitty leadership, they were likely even more competent now. Not to mention, when optimus returns, they lose cybertron again
Even in the movie, Soundwave was hooking up his cassette mode into the decepticon base. I guess they made that a permanent feature instead of having him transform every time
@@ilyte1 they are from the future relative to when the Autobots crashed on Earth, which was the "end of the war", which was 4 million years before the 80s. That's why we see "early humans" on Earth, so Primal and team are still thousands if not millions of years before the 80s Once the Transformers wake up in the 80s, the war resumes. It's only the end of the war to them because of their crash
Yeah its kind of weird how we went from a terrible G1 Megatron In a beast wars show but amazing beast Megatron And now terrible beast Megatron but amazing G1 Megatron haha
This is something that occurred to me a couple days ago. What would have happened if the cons won? Would the Golden Disk have just been overwritten with, “ignore that last bit. I just won”?
The gold disk would not have g1 Megatron's message on it. As for history it would be drastically different. With the cons winning the war Humanity might have been enslaved or wiped out by the cons. Earth would have been drained of all natural resources for Cybertron's restoration, the predicons would have never been created as there would be no need to upgrade to more fuel efficient bodies, and finally Unicorn would have devoured the universe as there was no prime to stop him.
It was a backup plan for G1 Megatron, so it would probably still exist. And Knowing that Megatron, probably would end up in a museum as an example of his "tactical brilliance" or something.
@@thegreyjedi2372 True however Megatron encountered the voyager probe after getting dumped by Star Scream so Astrotrain could make it back to Cybertron. The act of Star Scream dumping Megatron like garbage is found in the Transformers movie of 1986.
1) I didn't know this was a continuation of the original cartoon. 2) I never witnessed the inclusions of G1 characters in the show, let alone Unicron. 3) I had no fucking idea that Megatron and Optimus Primal were not the original Megatron and Optimus Prime, let alone were smaller robots.
Well starscream technically either foreshadowed or referenced the transformers armada series. Consider this. Starscream claimed to have died to Unicron while in the service of megatron. Now consider this, of course in armada it was Galvatron but the predacons would have still called him Megatron. And Starscream died trying to unite the Autobots and Decepticons as an effort to serve Megatron. Plus the term 'Air Commander' could be referencing Thrust from Armada and that Starscream is the true air commander. Either that or its all coincidental. But of course they use the G1 artwork but it resembles Armada
Made even better with the "Wonko the Sane" stint combined with his waving to the "audience." If anyone knew the likes of Benson Yee and his contributions to the show back in the day, then you're gonna love what it meant.
Ok so Predacon Megatron is Ok with, literally, erasing his own existence by killing Optimus and changing history, if it means the Decepticons will win. As if "I won't get to exist but at least I won't live in this future where I am a "slave" of the Maximals"
And you know what's the worst part? Despite having the entirety of G1 localized and dubbed in Italian, the translators of Beast Wars DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SEQUEL TO TRANSFORMERS. So, every time there's a G1 reference and DESPITE HAVING "TRANSFORMERS" IN THE ORIGINAL TITLE, the translation fucks up. For instance, a lot of names in the original cartoon and toyline were localized (Autobots became Autorobots (with a silent t, for some reason), Decepticons became Distructors (pronounced "distrooctors", Optimus Prime became Commander, Starscream became Astrum, Ravage became Iena ("Hyena" in Italian, despite the fact he's a panther) and many others), and already calling Optimus Primal "Black Jack" feels like a wasted opportunity (as in, at least Rodimus Prime was renamed "Captain", they could've gone with something like, I don't know, "Sarge"? "Commander Primal"? Idk). And then, whenever they make a reference to Autobots and Decepticons, they just call them like that, "Autobots" and "Decepticons". But THEN, whenever they bring back one of the G1 characters I just mentioned, they said "FUCK IT, let's just give them new localized names, it's not like the kids are gonna care or something". So Starscream/Astrum became, and I'm not shitting you, "Scintillor" (because "scintilla" means "spark" and he's a spark! Funniest shit after Pickle Rick! Get it?), Ravage/Iena became "Ursus" (again, he's a PANTHER) and, worst of all, seeing that BW!Megatron had the same name as G1!Megs and Primal and Prime kinda sound similar, get this, Optimus Prime was renamed BLACK JACK. I'm not even commenting on this one. Sorry if I sounded whiny, I just wanted to vent.
Black Jack era un nome figo,a sarebbe stato meglio se fosse stato un nomignolo dato da un membro dell'equipaggio più che il suo nome nella versione italiana, per il resto sono totalmente d'accordo. Black Jack was a cool name, it would have been better if it had been a nickname given by a crew member rather than his name in the Italian version, for the rest I totally agree.
In latin america we got something similar. Because the traslation took a lot of liberties, some names were not the ones supposed to be. Some were lucky like Rattrap or Wapinator ("Ratatrampa" and "Avispaneitor" which are essentially literal translations from english). Some others however were odd like Quickstrike ("Dos cabezas" two heads basically). There's one that really went into the absurd territory. Starscream was called "Destello" (probably something similar to the word starlight). That alone is weird, but while for the most part the word decepticon was somewhat respected, at some point he calls the "flota decepción", and this one is beyond stupid because the word "decepción" is a false cognate from english, the two words alike mean entirely different things, in spanish, "decepcion" is much closer to the meaning "dissapointment". At least Megatron was respected. But I'm not sure why the dub did that.
When first watched Beast Wars: Optimal Situations and it came to the part where Optimus Prime got the Matrix back and his eyes activated on that quiet "thank you" -level looking into Primal's, I recall fanboying the Eff out! 4:58 Totally lit AF!
@@steve_the_vehicon632 if u watch the 1984 cartoon..they were in status lock..not dead in 1984 when they reactivated beacuse the mountain they crashed into was actually a volcano and the shock from it eurpted and activated teletran 1's repair function.....watch the 1984 cartoon bud
I love in code of hero dinobots computer tells him switch to beast mode , stasis lock is imantent. Dino bot says: overrideeee Lol classic. Phenomenal episode

Ironicly the predicons were enslaved by there leaders(former decepticons). Maximal were far from perfect but they didn't actively seek out and oppress the other side.
On Cybertron the Maximals did actively seek out to oppress Predicons. According to the comics of the time any predicon on Cybertron was treated like a second class citizen with extreme restrictions on where they could go, who they could talk to and what they could have. Off world was a different story but thanks to the Paxus Cybertrionus they where under constant surveillance for anything that could be even remotely interpreted as a violation of the peace treaty. This is why the Tripredcous council made sure predicons like Megatron where used to distract Maximal agents from their rearming efforts.
@Ligga Digga Sigga Jr g1 Megatron goal was unity/peace through tyranny/control. After the A&D bot wars the remaining D-bots took control and followed there leaders will. If I was to make a short comparison to the predicon society would be the golden/rust age from idw and prime verse. A society based on what you were made for and what you provide. And if you couldn't fulfill your role you were scrapped and reused for society as parts Ironically predicon society allowed more personal freedoms even going as far as to allow preds to create mobb style families and renaming themselves or there kin.
@Ligga Digga Sigga Jr the A-bots on the other hand regressed into what we saw in the end of g1 golden age except militarized. Maximals had to conform or be outcast by both society's often being banished from cybertron if they weren't forced into being reformatted. Because maximal leadership thought it more humane and peaceful to erase individualism/freedom for security/peace. In fact it worked so well it was a rare accurance a maximal went rogue. Because they had beaten the idea of freedom out of them and instead instilled conformist ideology. Ironic considering Optimus/alphatrion fought against that type of rulership
I remember thinking Beast wars looked like crap in season 1 and hated the farting, burping and all that silly crap. I'm a huge fan of G1 and when their storyline got into G1 in season 2 or 3 I got interested and went back and watched entire show then loved it
See all I had at first was the set of episodes where transmetal 2 dinobot was born and then the cheetor transmetal two primitive stuff. It was really weird to then start in season one with only Rhinox and Waspinator looking the same lol
Beast Wars was my introduction to Transformers. There's a lot of silly moments and slapstick humor, but I've grown to love it because of the storylines and characters. I even became a fan of G1 because of Beast Wars.
I got introduced to G1 first, I think, but The Movie and BW sure made me be more into Transformers, mostly because the storytelling intensified at those points and at times went beyond the "glorified toy commercial" roots.
Watching the Agenda was wild when it first aired. Prior to that, Beast Wars' connections to G1 were mostly loose. The biggest episode that connected the two shows was Possession, which had the Ghost of Starscream heavily featured, but other than that, the shows felt largely disconnected from each other. Any connections or references we did get felt like fun little nods to the fans and not much else. Then this comes along and reveals the Beast Wars have been revisiting G1 the whole time. Then to see Ravage, the G1 Megatron, and then the freaking Ark and Optimus Prime's head blown up, it was absolutely insane to witness for everyone that was around for both shows. And it wasn't just fan service either. It really felt like a lot of work went into using G1 to actually elevate the Beast Wars. Prior to Season 2, the show was fun, but felt low stakes. Okay so two small groups of robots are stranded and feuding in the middle of nowhere. With the added information that they were on prehistoric Earth the whole time, it opened the door for this kind of craziness and boy did it pay off!
@@johnnygyro2295 No. Not even the writers knew. They had two theories though. A: The vok were the highly evolved future versions of the human race or B: They were the reborn versions of The Swarm from the G2 comic series
At least the mysterious ambiguity of the Vok being kept helps them, just like the Shadows from Babylon 5 and the Shivans from FreeSpace, and unlike the Reapers from Mass Effect.
Also there's a couple other things that I never understood so when Optimus regained Consciousness after you put the Matrix of leadership back into him how come he never remembered this and when they were reactivated and 1984 after the great explosion of the volcano how come they were never able to detect the part of the other Transformers that were lost during the great battle
The show producers, directors and writers said that what appeared to be Optimus Prime's Matrix of Leadership, in reality it wasn't, that was his Spark core container in shape of the Matrix. That supposedly the Matrix was behind that area in another compartment. The reason it was shaped as the Matrix is that they never had a Spark Core to relate to so they shaped Prime's Core to look like the Matrix, remember that in this show when Megatron (I call him Predratron better lol) shot Prime he was dying slowly and the remedy to save him till Rhinox and the Ark repaired the damage Primal had to take in Prime's Spark inside him and by having two Sparks mutated him into Optimal Optimus. When they returned the Spark to Prime in a sense he powered up a bit.
@@EternalRoman I understand that wasn't the Matrix of leadership that was indeed his spark, but also his spark did merge with the matrix. but what I'm asking and what I don't understand and what was never clarified was when his spark was put back into his body and he came back online and he looked Optimus primal right in the face how come it is that he never remembered that. And then my other question that I have is later on why isn't it that they were never able to detect the parts of the other maximals and Predacons that was lost in the great battle before they went back to Cybertron
@@ThePrime206 On the Parts of Maximals and Predacons fight, the issue stems on the point that the show originally was intended to be its own thing, but then they decided to make it as a G1 continuity. The show though being as praised a lot now as a modern cult classic, it was too different for the G1 fans and apparently the audience that was tuning in at the time was not as strong, so they used the strongest tool at their disposal, straight up Nostalgia to get the audience to expand. It worked since now many G1 fans still like this show, but at the time they didn't. Since they had introduced the concept of a "Spark" as the soul of all Cybertronians, they had to make the G1 Transformers to have them too, but as I said, they had nothing to use as reference and in fear of making up something that would have the G1 fans fight about, they had to use that excuse.
@@hero-bo7qc To put it simply, after the Great War the cybotroians underwent what is referred to as the great upgrade, it reduced their sizes in order to allow them to be more Energon efficient which aided in cybertron’s reconstruction efforts, i believe beast wars makes a reference to it at some point but beast machines goes a little more into it, hence why the predacons and maximals are much smaller compared to their autobot/Decepticon ancestors, dont take my word as gospel thought as its been a while since i dove into this lore but i think I’m remembering it correctly
Beast Wars, Beast Machines and G1 are my favorites. I liked Transformers Prime a bit on the side too, but other than that I haven't really liked any other Transformers series. I did like the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron video games though.

Im gonna wish some transformers toys for christmas and the one i want the most is a masterpiece soundwave that comes with his cassettes and im also gonna wish the beastbox cassette toy for the masterpiece soundwave toy
@Rich Pitoniak Nah, because they're goin by the butterfly effect in terms of time travel, & that'd mean there'd be no Matrix of Leadership to pass on to Hot Rod whenhe came to Earth later on in G1. No Matrix of Leadership, no Rodimus Prime. It's the Matrix that converts them into a Prime. You take that out, & the Prime line dies completely.
Pretty brilliant and grandiose on BW Megatron part by trying to deny the Autobots an ally in the Witwickys and thereafter, the rest of the human population. Hell, we can even say he tried to setup even after the events of 2005, by eliminating the EDC that is an alert first warning to any threat coming past Pluto 👍🏾
Gotta love Beast Wars (and also Animated) for being referential love letters to the works released before them. However, do note that BW is implied to happen to a G1 universe with some specific events from both the Sunbow cartoon and the Marvel comics (both the U.S. and U.K. ones) combined, not a true sequel to the cartoon itself or even said comics. Of course, inconsistencies caused by this can be redeemed by the fact the exact information about the Great War of 1984-2005+ is hidden away by the Maximal Elders (which is admittedly a donk move from an otherwise benevolent offscreen group). Addendum: Shame the The Agenda three-parter finale for Season 2 didn't have Frank Welker as G1 Megs, while the Transformers theme song wasn't available for cassette tape Ravage to play due to bloody rights issues.
What I have always wondered between the continuity between Transfomers G1 and Transformers Beast wars is what happened to Rodimus Prime? or what is his whereabouts in Beast wars?
beast wars was set millions of years in the future, just time traveling to the distant past. Not much from g1 would have lived that long. Rodimus was always pretty weak too, but he stopped being a prime before g1 series ended when Optimus was reborn.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be in theaters June 9th, 2023. It will be a reboot of Beast Wars mixed with G1, it won't be canon or have the same story line. Details are still sparse, it takes place in 1994 in New York and Peru. Peter Cullen: Prime, Ron Perlman: Primal, Michelle Yeoh: Airazor. All I know about the plot is two archaeologists find themselves in a conflict between the Maximals, Autobots, Predacons, Decepticons, and Terrorcons. I've seen one toy, I'd say the art style is somewhere between Transmetal 2 and Beast Machines. It is directed by Steven Caple Jr who directed a teen skateboarding drama, and a boxing movie. Sounds like it may be crying teenagers and battle bots. I have my doubts. They probably just want to cash out on it real quick and ignore the older fans.
