R.I.P MCA - Adam Yauch 1964-2012 Rare footage from 1986 Raising Hell Tour London featuring Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Whodini & Run-DMC with crowd surfing, fighting, bottles thrown & crazy live performances in front of a hostile crowd!
I'm sorry but at 2:32 did I really just see Adam dive into the crowd and no one caught him? wtf. he's fighting for your right to party the least you could do is let him chill on your shoulders for a bit.
Yeah saw Cohen step in. Looked like no one did catch him cuz he came up holding himself in his ribs. Maybe someone took a cheap shot on him. I'm sure it wasnt easy being one of the first white rap groups to hip hop scene... but wtf its London... never mind.
LOL @ the heads saying "that guy with the whistle". This was 80's London UK. WE ALL HAD WHISTLES! You did NOT go to a live jam without a whistle round your neck (I always had 3). At 1st US rappers coming over were like 'WTF is going on?' But on repeat visits they soon got to shouting the phrase "is the whistle posse in the hooouse?!?! Make some noise" It was deafening and fuckin great! It also wasn't too unusual for a few to smuggle in air horns. Aah good times. RIP MCA
defiantly so - my may mates where at the gig (it was the opening night of a club called Delirium at London’s Astoria) and I remember them laughing about this incident the next day at School.
Just finished watching the Beastie Boys Anthology DVD and still can't believe the Adam's gone. So glad I got to see them on their last tour through Toronto. RIP Yauch.
lyor like mofuckin moss ad or some shit. I guess that could be an advantage to compulsory military service. was he ever a head tho? or was it always just money? funny I see this shit tonite.. I didn't know who he was until last night. if he ever was cool, he sure as fuck ain't now..
That exactly how i remembered the concert - it seemed completely disorganised. I seem to remember LL Cool J come onstage after he was ejected from a giant tape deck!
I know what you're saying. But at the event(s) the music was always way louder than the whistles. Despite how this video makes it sound. It's one of those 'you had to be there' situations I suppose. UK Heads know the deal.
Hmmm 1986 partying in London huh? Look a the clown Lyor Cohen high as the moon and Russell was still doing coke back then. Then along came BDP, Slick Rick, Public Enemy,Eric B. and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap to show these guys how to rhyme. The 86-87 freshmen in Hip Hop changed the rap game. Russell Simmons had to finally buy B.D.K and Biz Markie away from Warner Bros. and bring them into the Def Jam fold ( ruining their careers UNPURPOSE ) and getting B.D.K to ghost write for LL.
