The whole album works so well together. "What Comes Around" fits well with the goofiness of "Johnny Ryall," "Hey Ladies," and "Egg Man."

I love "What Comes Around"! To this day, I can't hear Rapunzel w/out thinking about her underwear ... which is kind of problematic since I have two young daughters. IMO Paul's Boutique is their most complete album. No duds for me. Car thief is ill.

I kind of agree with them on that... the sample on that track is actually really good, but musically the chorus of that song sucks and is kind of basic, honestly. And to the people saying Hey Ladies is a dud...WTF? It's one of the best tracks on the album....that break in the song with the incredible bass line is exceptional!

Your other albums have a few duds here and there but Paul's Boutique is a piece of art as a whole, I can't imagine any part of it being left out and the only bad thing you can say about this album is that it is too short.

So funny to hear this. What Comes Around was my buddy’s favorite track because of the interplay at the end, and I always loved Car Thief. But this whole album is a masterpiece and I think it’s because of both the music itself, but especially the pacing of the tracks. To All The Girls starts the vibe, low and slow, straight into the sledgehammer of Shake Your Rump. What Comes Around is a nice rhythm change between Car Thief and Shadrach. The 3-part miniseries of B-Boy Bouillabaisse is the chef’s kiss that closes the album out, and represents the rhythmic change ups the album throws at you as a whole, but in a microcosm of a track. Love the Beasties, and the evolution of their sound. Paul’s Boutique and The In Sound From Way Out! are my two favorite albums, but every single thing they did hit the right notes

license to illl is a masterpiece. considered by many legendary rappers the same. I saw them perform songs from that album in 90s they weren't lampooning anything. it's totally real, some stuffs over the top and a bit tongue and cheek but feeling behind it all real. I hate how history trying to bend it into something it's not. f the critics and fake journalist. most of them 10 years ago were in highschool listening to Taylor Swift and Linkin park.

I don't know why, but I always thought Johnny Ryall was the dud on Paul's Boutique. It just was my least favorite song on the album but I'm glad they still put it on there.

that’s what i thought when i first heard it but it really grew on me, especially after listening closely to the lyrics. i can’t think of many other songs that discuss taboos such as homelessness and alcoholism in a neutral, even somewhat sympathetic tone, in a way that is not super stigmatizing or like an after-school special. now it is one of my favorite tracks on the album

I’m starting to get deeper into their stuff. The Beastie Boys were right along up there with any rapper back in the day. Their videos are classics. Very original, very different. Funny, witty, crazy, unpredictable. They really stood alone. Hope Mike D is ok. Doesn’t look good to me. A-Rock looks the same except for the gray hair. Ha.

The Beastie Boys... I feel personally like.. I didn't appreciate 'em enough when they were active and I feel a sense of shame for that.. I saw 'em live, I bought the records... I loved them... You watch these interviews, which are great btw, Ad-Rock and Mike D HUGE RESPECT - but the absence of Yauch... MY GOD!! What they could have acheieved musically speaking ... The LOSS! It's PAINFUL!! We'll NEVER see their like again. The impact they had. The music they made. The CULTURAL IMPACT!!! Just incredible. As someone said recently - they didn't ride the ZEITGEIST - they WERE THE ZEITGEIST!!!

Yeah, never had a problem with What Comes Around. It flows really well with the rest of the album. I remember wearing out the cassette of Paul’s Boutique and buying it again on CD. Still my fav Beastie Boys album.

Paul's Boutique is firmly in my top 5 greatest hip-hop albums of all time. You could argue that some tracks are better/weaker than others, but taken together, it's a hip-hop masterpiece.

When I first discovered the boys, I hated them (and still kinda do (personally it's just not my thing but I have a huge mutual respect for what they did to the genre. I hear their influence everywhere)), I though the boys except for MCA were just obnoxious guys that think their cool but aren't. I didn't realize how chill they were. My mutual respect rose to a major respect but a personal slight distaste.
