Drag racing is ALL about hooking... Hook up, practice, practice. Proper tune, proper suspension, proper tires and practice. The ST is the best fun I've had in years. Now I need to take the groceries in. Thanks, FORD, for having the best of both worlds.
I live in Jersey so I will never do the e85 thing it's way to far away for me to get to a station that has it, and I am not measuring my gas like that or riding around with Gas can's in my trunk.. To me it's like running NOS.. But to each their own.. One day I'll do a whipple with a safe tune and if I only get to 620 instead of 750 so be it.. I want my car to pass inspection too. I don't want check engine lights and could care less who's faster.. I just want to have fun.. I am so glad I learned my lessons with Tuner's on my Nissan first.. Anyway great job..
On pump gas I got around 430 hp and 490 ft/lbs on a performance tune at the wheels. Im sure if you were on a race tune you would get more, but performance is conservitive. I don't get issues with check engine lights with any of the tunes. The issue comes in with some parts being installed that throw emissions codes. Those parts are things you can stay away from.
6th mod is the best mod. I swear to God you're so right. I had a bmw 325 (E46) and the way I'd drive plus a CAI and muffler delete had 2-3 people stop me and ask what I had under the hood. Point being is you HAVE to get to know and be in sync with your car. Like it's an extension of your body.
Loving your channel! I like your honesty. What tires are you running? I’ve always heard that dollar for dollar the best mod most people can make is good tires
With a good tune the cold air intake and catback can easily contribute an additional 25-30 whp. So far I only have a upr catchcan , and Cvf intercooler. I am also waiting on an S&b intake to be shipped to me. Overall build plan is , intake, Cbf downpipes, intercooler, thermal 3 in catback, and zfg 91 Oct tune. I am aiming for 430-450 whp on 91.
I had 430 whp on 93 performance tune. If you get the zfg DMS tune you should be close to that. Intakes on these vehicles without turbos don't do much. Your better off installing the downpipes and the tune.
@@SouthdownGarage yeah the intakes may not add much hp but they add some eye candy to the engine bay and alil more sound. How much room do the stock turbos have psi wise for more boost over factory?
@lucian7182 I can't disagree with you there, exhaust and intake sounds amazing. If your after sound, go with the FenFab intake, it sounds amazing. The stock turbos on pump gas will run about 20 psi of boost. On e50 tune as much as 27 psi of boost. Stock turbos have been able to handle yp to 550 wheel hp, which is pretty amazing if you ask me.
I'm not sure about the previous years but I've got a 24, and you definitely need to add mufflers to that list! I cut one open to see what was going on in there and it is ridiculous how it is designed, I don't know how they flow anything at all with the u turns and tight clearances inside with small pipe!!
@@SouthdownGarage I put a pair of flowmaster mufflers on it, k&n air filter kit, and a canned tune from an SCT tuner. Ran 13.28 @102 last night leaving off idle with a 2.0 60 ft. I launched a 2400 got a 1.80 60 ft but ran a 13.60 at 98 🤨 I think my active grille shutter closed on me or something 🤦🏼♂️
Stock hellcats are in the 11.5 to 11.6 range. Pulley, tune, injectors mid 10's quick and simple. Go further from there. Wife has a 25 ST. I have a 23 hellcat.
Yup, and tuned on Ethanol the explorer is down to 11.6 some are doing 11.4 - 11.3 with interiors. With bigger turbo's and fuel systems these explorers are mid 10's as well. That platform has grown like crazy...can't wait to do 9's this year 😁 wait till you see what I have planned.
Make the Hellcat launch from idle and I bet you can win with just 3 mods! (Not joking). An idle launch for a Durango Hellcat / Trackhawk will never do better than 12.0 stock.
@@SouthdownGarage the internet is forever angry. I respect the fact that ST guys are building these.. the Durango Hellcat record recently hit the 8s in the 1/4 and starts off in the 11s. Dropping from 13s to 10s like the ST platform has is equally impressive to me. 🍻
@@SouthdownGarage I’ll be staying stock for the foreseeable future. I want to see if I can do better than 11.5 in stock form (though it’s not looking likely, I’ll keep trying 🍻)
Funny thing is all the money you spend trying to beat a Hellcat will be futile if the Hellcat has the right tire setup. My redeye Challenger and Charger Hellcat both have beadlocks and launch like they are AWD. I would like to see you race one on a good tire.
All the mods in the video were ruffly about 5 or 6 grand. Still working on making it quicker with tune revisions, shooting for 11.5 on the same mods. If I got drag radials it should be quite different as well, dout it would be in RedEye territory, but way quicker then it was in the video.
@@SouthdownGarage by the way I’m not hating on your build or anyone else’s build but a Hellcat with the right setup is devastating. I definitely want to continue to follow your progress hopefully you get it down to the 10’s soon good luck bro 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
@The above average Joe show I never got hate from your message! Thank you for replying back! I do have plans to hit the low 10's it's going to be wild. The guy I beat in this video just upgraded to 1440 injectors, underwrite pully and a tune for 93 and e85....it's nuts now...so I have a lot of work to do. I just have to hit my goal of 11.5 first before I really get into it. I'm planning on building the first ever of two things this winter and by next summer to put this thing into the low 10's, it's going to be wild!
Check out Ken Kyle Racing, he has made it into the tens, currently the fastest ST out there. Some may get on people that spend money on mods, but that's what makes it rewarding, your not buying the fastest off the dealer lot, your making it the fastest in your garage. I own a built SHO and no matter how much ungodly amount of money that has gone into it, I will never be as fast as an ST. I've had to explain to many people that it's not always power that wins the race, if I had that 10 speed, it would be a whole different car.
Ford really finds a way to get a lot out of their motor's for sure.. They have impressed the hell out of me over the last 10 years.. Ford really does have A level Engineers compared to some of these other companies who just throw displacement and blower's at everything.. Ford messes up with a lot of stupid little things like their shifter's body panels LOL.. But for the most part their motors are killing it from 4 cylinders to V8's they seem to be doing more with less.. And I have never been a Ford Fanboy or anything like that.. I am 50 and I have only owned 2 Ford's.. I mostly bought Chevy's and Nissan's over the years.. My Mustang GT is the second Ford I have ever owned. I love My GT they are the Meanest and sexiest sport coupes on the road.
I mean the st explorers and ecoboosts in general are impressive but a hell cat or track hawk has way more end potential. Not hating, I’m considering getting an st for the wife.
You only did 12.26? I'm only zfg 93 octane and cvf intercooler, everything else stock and im doin 12.2-12.3. Even without the intercooler I did those times, I just couldn't hotspot the explorer
Turns out I was having injector issues. I'm back on stock injectors on 93 and I also ran a 12.3 last night from second gear. The quickest I ran was 12.02. I'm switching to E50 tune next week.
@grimsinx no, 12.02 was on e60 tune with injectors, but I'm back to stock injectors, and will test out more later. My quickest zero to 60 on 93 was 3.99, which was close to my e60 3.88. I'm super excited that I figured out my issue
You will have to talk to your local Ford Dealership to find out what they will let you do. Some Dealerships will look for any reason to void Warranty, some like mine won't be so strict. Some will only void Warranty if the mod is the direct cause of failure. I'm sorry for not being able to answer your question better.
@TboneSRT man, I really appreciate you Mopar guys, thank you for keeping me on my toea My rival did injectors, tune and pulley so it's going to be a wild year...I'm looking to probably get a prototype part! We'll see what happens
@SouthdownGarage I like a lot of cars! Always cool seeing what other cars can do against them. I'll be running my buddies FBO explorer ST in the spring in my 392 charger. Going to be fun 🤪 roll only though. That awd, makes the race pointless haha
@@SouthdownGarage is your rival a hellcat durango?🤔 cuz man with those mods, they normally push about 800 whp. That would be crazy if you took the win there!
I'm sorry but my lincoln mks ecoboost has killed me and bite me in the ass twice with turbo failure hope dealer does repair under warranty of their repair amd replacement of turbos and if will be bye bye lincoln i don't see how 3.0 ecoboost is any better than a 3.5 ecoboost.
If your Lincoln is 2010-2012, those turbos are of a bad design, there was a redo for 2013. If you can pull them yourself, send them off to TurboBay and they will get a proper rebuild. As far as engines, the 3.5 transverse does not share any internals with the longitude 3.5 like in the F-150, I own a SHO and a 2013 F-150 3.5 and a 2016 Explorer Sport, I built my engine in my SHO because anything over 550awhp and bending a rod is inevitable. Now the 3.0 it's a whole other animal. Think of it as the 3.5 but version 2. I've seen just the 3.0 block and it's well amazing engineering overkill, no other car manufacturer has made a block like the 3.0 it also comes with stronger internals. It's cousin the 2.7 in the F-150 is the same engineering marvel. People mock me and think I'm lying when I say I've never beaten a ST when my build cost almost $20,000 and I've got 650awhp and 647awtq, but what I don't have is that 10 speed, if I did, my SHO would be a whole different car. Without it, STs will beat me all day, and the ones that have, are running 100+ less in HP and TQ.
@@scottcarr1534 Nope. All fluids changed on time and never raced. I understand blind brand loyalty but to think that a car can’t have issues is not wise.
@@lotus956 I've had 5 of them through the years... ALL of them rock solid. - The rest of my cars? All Chevy or Toyota, Honda... so don't talk to me about "blind loyalty" either state the purpose of your nonsense.. or don't... and don't go away mad, just go away if you have nothing constructive to say or do.
I just thought I’d say this but for one it’s not a Toyota and for two Toyotas don’t require much maintenance all cars are different 😂 you can drive a Toyota without doing much maintaince cause they are Japanese.
@Martinfryer8707 - Careful because I see kuk stamped on your forehead... He's honest and learning, you mad bro? Maybe a bit jealous? Yeah... You're mad, definitely hating to hate. Trolls 🧌 abound...
@@SouthdownGarage yeah i dumped time and money into it. It will never be as quick as my 1992 gt runs 10.27. but the edge is a blast to drive either way. Been wondering if the 27 would benefit from polished and ported heads and Port matched intake runners. What not want to go to a boneyard see if I can't get my hands on a head off of a bad motor and have a look at it. See what I can come up with or maybe just buy a bad motor. Tear it apart and do some investigating
