www.beatbreakdown.net for more of everything! TWO that's right TWO tracks this week! Two similar Kanye beats for your educational pleasure. Bare bones sample chops that still make for two dope beats. Project files at beatbreakdown.net
Man, all of your vids are amazing! I barely subscribed the other day, but I've already watched pretty much all of the best breakdowns and I have to say, you have a lot of talent to recreate these instrumentals to what their finished products came out to be. I would really love to see you breakdown "Shook Ones part 2" by Mobb Deep!!! I absolutely love these vids!!! Keep them coming 💯
Been watching a bunch of your vids and I'm picking up so much from them! Idk if you've already done it or not, but a breakdown of "This Can't Be Life" would be amazing!
This should turn into a documentary series! Do all famous Producers and their most talented songs they made and go into detail. Daft Punk, Kanye etc...
You forgot something. Starting at the chorus between the seconds and third verse and the last chorus all have another chop mixed in. It sounds like it's saying "Yeah, baby."
I have the machine 2 and whenever I pitch up a sample it doesn't sound like this at all.. are you pitching in time stream when the sample doesn't speed up or in the settings when the higher you pitch the faster the sample speeds up. THESE VIDEOS ARE GEMS!
Thank! Using the second one, where the speed goes up as the pitch goes up. Check the free download for the project file and compare what you're doing to that. See if that clears anything up.
Just self-taught over the years. Been playing instruments forever and making beats for 6-7 years now? Would do corny synths and all that but I learned how the basics of sampling worked by listening to nothing but the first two Kanye albums and the two Nujabes albums back before it was easy to have an iPod hookup in the car. Would just leave those in for weeks at a time and yeah that was where it all started to really click.
+J Cadeau Yeah I had to go back to check myself. There is another higher-pitched sample in the song over the top that comes in a couple times in the back-half of the song. The drums in the original sound a bit crisper too (but I don't know if that's from Kanye's sample or if he added in some extra drums to give it more of a pop), and then there's also some strings mirroring the melody at the end and those vocal moaning elements throughout, to say nothing of the scratching that really makes the track for me. This is one of my favorite Kanye beats for sure.
You really think that he sat there and played that entire song???? He played intro, verse, chorus, and looped it without quantization on. Then he went back arranged the song. That is how a lot of producers produce their tracks.
