My favourite thing about the Maliketh fight is that you can hear arrows and other projectiles hit his armour even in Gurranq phase. So even if you can't see his armour, it's there.

For the record, the reason the Serpent Bow didn't seem to help him in testing was probably because that specific bow's Status Effects actually scale with Arcane, something that is ONLY true for the Serpent Bow and no other bow weapon in the game because the bow itself is the only one that scales with Arcane. Assuming Bushy tested it without leveling his Arcane, I'm pretty sure the status buildup would be less than average for a bow.

You can hold the serpent bow in your off hand and still get it's extra poison build up. It will help you save a couple arrows if you're just trying to proc poison. It works beautifully with the rain of arrows ash on a normal bow.

Here’s a run idea ‘Region lock runs’ You can only use anything you find in one and only one region of your choice That means if you choose the region like Lymgrave you can’t pic up any item of any type outside of Lymgrave Edit: you can also apply weapons and upgrade materials for extra spicyness Like if you picked The weeping Peninsula you can only use the smithing stones you can gather only in that area to upgrade your weapons This can also apply to summons, tools,armor exe. I have another idea. I'm not sure if it's even possible but you can only use weapons/sorceries/miracles/ashes of war/etc. only of the region in which you fight the bosses/enemies. You can however use upgrade materials.

This is insane. I did a bow only run and it was difficult as is. You tend to run low or out of arrows on bosses with a lot of hp or that dodge a lot of your arrows.

Lion's Greatbow + Radahn's Rain shreds when built properly and a proper Greatbow setup with a good Ash put on it is gonna fuck things up big time.

i did a bow only run and I found that it was so much easier than I thought it was gonna be, you can just status effect down bosses cause you can get the serpent bow off spawn and use wooden arrows and get inherent heavy poison buildup, and then there's the merchant in caelid that sells serpent arrows so you basically have poison 100% of the time

its so weird that the lightning projectiles dont work on malenias water. maybe thats why they initially removed lightning greatarrows but not lighting greatbolts, because the arrows with rain of arrows could be used to easily stagger her and do a ton of damage, but then they also realized about ancient dragons lightning strike and figured it would be best to change the water directly; forgetting or deciding to still not implement lightning great arrows because of other locations with water

Regular bows with lighting arrows can have rain of arrows ash of war put on them (all non-somber light bows and regular bows). The best candidate for this is the albinauric bow because it has the best Dex scaling and highest damage. The lighting damage on lightning arrows DOES scale with the dex scaling of the bow. Holy and Fire damage arrows scale with the faith of bows (so only the erdtree bows), and the horn bow scales the magic damage of magic arrows.

This game is far beyond imagination. You can play it in thousands of ways and all of them does work. This is true role playing. True be and do whatever you want. The amount of effort they put into this is completely unmatched, and the modder community only enhances it even further and further. This game turned into my new Diablo 2. Into a game I can play whenever I want for however long I want in the way I want and thanks to its infinite possibilities I never gonna get bored of it.

Ahh, I see Bushy has finally ascended, and learned the Glorious Groin Guard strat against Radahn. On a side note, one of my favorite uses of the Serpent's Bow is opening with Rot Arrows, then switching to either bleed, fire, or Lightning in most cases, using the passive poison of the bow itself to get the double DoT going, while using Mighty Shot for headshots and staggers at amplified damage.

Fun fact for this and many future runs, if anyone's reading this: You can actually alter Gideon's moveset if you beat Rykard, Mohg II, and Malenia before fighting him. It gets rid of Comet Azur, Miquella's Rings of Light, and one of the other spells in favor of Rykard's Rancorcall, Scarlet Aeonia, and Bloodflame Talons - which might actually be easier to dodge and deal with, especially Aeonia. Granted, you gotta beat three of the hardest bosses in the game, but... It's something to consider, at least.

I watched someone else do a bow only run (with lock on, so not the same). They used jump shots to skip some of the starting delay from shooting while standing; you also get a quick shot right after landing. FYI to anyone that's considering doing this challenge themself.

My first and only play through in Eldon ring I did a bow and affliction build. So I would use a bow with specialty arrows and Specialty spells it was fun some bosses were cancer but it was such a fun thing to do and once I got perfumes too I just made the build even way more fun. Same for pots

Hey @Bushyy - I have a challenge proposal. Elden Ring - But make it Asian. • Have to play the game in any Asian language (Japanese or Chinese, probably) • Have to start as Samurai • Can only use fitting weapons, skills and spells and items • Not allowed to use the Wiki in this run (That would kind of nullify the language challenge)
