This! I’m currently rocking Sony XM4s, which are still very good (although it has lost the ability to pause when i take them off my ears), but I do want a cheaper alternative to AirPods Max, but with the convenience of an audio jack port.

@@Sylvan_dB the pressure on top isn’t bad after three hours don’t really feel it but yes max is slightly better for the top. My issue with the max is the clamping on the ears feels like someone has their hands pressing in on the ears.

I choose the Beats now as my preferred over the ear headphones! Yes, I own the AirPods Max also! The three major factors for me are the weight - the Beats are noticeably lighter, the flexibility the Beats provides by folding and the case. This causes the Beats to be much more portable compared to the Max. The max are a stay at home headphone. Finally it’s the price, although I bought the Max the day of release 💰- 500 vs 349 is significant. There are other minor quibbles that doesn’t change my opinion. ANC and transparency mode are very similar! Finally, the Beats present a much subtler image in public! How things change! The Max have become more of a status and fashion statement! I experience this when my 20-year daughter who attends UCLA has in the last few months has asked for the Max’s now!🙏🏽

Thanks for the in-depth compare. Apple was thinking that no matter which device consumers choose, it will generate revenue for the company. This is the same marketing strategy Proctors and Gamble followed for years. Since Jan 2023, Apple stock has climbed 55%! They make nice products and have a very “sticky” ecosystem and now they are expanding their reach in each product category.

I had the Beats Solo and enjoyed them just not the on ear type. These sounds like a lot of good options such as USB-C charging, foldable, on/off button and comes with cable to listen wired. I still don’t know I would like these better than my current APM for sounds and comfort.

1:33 yes you can. You can use your AirPods Max while charging. I’ve done this loads of times with usb c to lightning cable on my laptop or even straight out of a jack.

@@AzrealJ So i should buy an overpriced product because like that i can or have to buy other overpriced products? I pay for sound, comfort and software. The airpods sound worse than the sennheißer and are less comfortable than the sony and the sennheiser and i have no problem with them pairing with anything. I mean these are headphones you turn them on and listen to music. The airpods are a lifestyle, fasshion product. You pay 200 more for the name that is simply a fact. Otherwise theyre as good or bad as the other ones i mentioned. If i could take one for free i would probably take the sonys. I hope there well be ones that check all boxes in the future.

@@serrael-182 Well actually the AirPods sound better 🤷‍♂ Most people still agree the AirPods Max are the best-sounding headphones, the best for noise cancellation! But when paired with Apple Music which uses a codec that processes on the AirPods’ own H1 chips instead of on-device and sent over lossy Bluetooth, the sound is on a whole other level. But it’s people’s stupid insistence on using Spotify that makes them think AirPods sound just average… let’s be real, Spotify is full of crap and ads anyway why would literally use it 🙄

I have the Max, but I just ordered the Studio in Navy. The carrying case is the big W for me. Max's case isn't protective at all.

I’m surprised everyone is saying the beats sound quality is great. Happy but surprised. My Beats Studio 3 are I bit too low end heavy. Ironically couldn’t use them in the studio for anything but reference headphones.

Something to note is that the 40hrs of battery is without ANC so when you run a side by side ANC comparison the Beats last 24 hours... not too significant of a difference

Another cool thing with the 3.5mm headphone jack is that i can run the beats on my headphone amps... Including my Fiio BTR7 portable amp/ DAC. Which allows me to send 900kbs LDAC (Lossless audio) over Bluetooth from my pixel fold via Amazon music HD or Apple music. If i want to roam around I can throw the tiny Fiio dac/ amp in my pocket and BT Lossless from my phone aross the room etc. Not something i can do with my Airpod max

Have you considered trying the focal bathys since they have usb dac mode with the usb c port? Even flossy carter made a youtube video about the focal bathys and he is not even an audiophile. I just saw the flossy carter youtube video yesterday about the same beats bluetooth headphones from this video and he has the hi res sony walkman running android and used the usb c port to connect the beats headphones to his sony walkman.

Literally just traded in my old beats for the studio pros and there’s a huge difference in the quality. And being cheaper than both the max and the Sony’s these offer a great alternative now. Also the usb c and 3.5 is huge I know when I travel now I’ll only need one brick to power all of my stuff

The only thing about the beats is that because they are folded they are very easy to break... I had wireless solo beats before but only used them for 1 1/2 years as the folded thing was already broken and the foam on the ear cups had already been removed

I own a lot of headphones/earbuds including the solos and AP max’s and while ive never had any issues with the max’s, i can attest to the ear cups removing themselves over time. Another issue i had with the solos was the sound out of one side became very quiet and almost hissy, so I sent them to apple (not covered under any warranty as it was after a year of purchase and i did not have apple care) and they repaired both for free. Unfortunately, the ear cups removed themselves again several months later so i decided to repair them myself. While they are not as easy as just magnetically popping in new ones like the AP max’s, the entire process is relatively easy while a plethora of customization. I occasionally still use my solo’s as I bought a dbrand skin and blue ear cups for my white solo’s and they look incredible. However, the AP max’s are just second to none regardless of how you look at it

At 2:00 you state that the beats turn off when folded, but that’s not the case this feature was removed on this model. Also they can’t sense when they are on your head or when you take them off to pause the music. Not a big deal but most headphones in this price range include this. Used to love the beats brand and still love the Powerbeats pros. At this time the air pod max’s at 100 bucks off on Amazon ($450) .. for 100 bucks more than the these beats you get the Apple h2 chip and all the sensors.

You don’t get an H2 chip. The AirPods Max have an H1 chip. Even so I too like them better than the beats for comfort and sound quality and build quality.

The AirPods Max sound better to me than the new AirPods Pro. If you are just looking at sound quality alone. Hands down. The headset has the advantage of bigger drivers and the separation and depth sound better in the headset. In my opinion. Both sound great and I have both, but I give the edge to the AirPods Max. But there are times where the earbuds are just more practical. Like in the gym.

Bought an AirPods Max last week in the local Apple Store in Berlin. Happy this it special in the Underground train for it‘s noise cancellation system. Compare it against the Beat ones. Beat sounds better in the Apple Store with Apple Music but Beats not so comfortable to wear. My iTunes encoded Music in mp3 at 320 kbps sounds much better than Apple Music on my AirPods Max.

I have the Air Pods Max. I'm too happy with these to sell them or get the Beats Studio Pro but if I had neither I'd save the money and get the Pro. Plus they fold easier and are superior for travel.

I have always loved my Beats. Unfortunate fact is they don't last. However I have never purchased the AirPods Max either so only on reputation would I assume they last. Could be the same I don't know. Bottom-line, I have always loved Beats but the durability has been something that falls short. Both microphone sound qualities are less than desirable at the same level but lacking differently (not a feature 🙂)

I ended up getting AirPods Pro’s 2 instead of over the ear headphones cause I couldn’t decide between the AirPods Max or Sony xm5. Was also hoping a new Beats Studio would come out soon. I got my wife a pair of studio pros last Christmas and she loves them but is not as picky when it comes to tech as I am, happy to see usb c on these finally, as well as transparency mode, definitely gonna wait and keep an eye towards Black Friday, but these will be definitely be on my list of considering headphones for traveling/ around the house use.

I think you'd have to make sure they were charged and buy the dedicated cable, or just get a pair of recording headphones like Shure, Beyerdynamic, Sony MDR-7506 or Audio Technica MX50. Not much more expensive than that Apple cable!

The max sound amazing even at high volume, I don’t think they really compare. The beats are more an alternative to Sony and Bose, not a max alternative.

Come someone help me decide whether to get the new beats or xm5s. In a huge Delma, the price isn’t an issue and mainly will use them to go to the gym.

When I read the title I was worried I want to get the new Beats to potentially replace my AP Max. After watching, I’ll be very happy just sticking with what I’ve currently got. The build quality alone is worth the AP Max in my opinion. I legitimately cringed a little when I heard the sound the Beats made when you manipulated the buttons on the side
