Welcome to another video!
This was supposed to be just a scouting day, where I look for a nice agate spot.
But it turned out to be a whole lot better!
Found a bunch of beautiful banded carnelian and chalcedony agates!
So join me on this rockhounding adventure!
Thank you for watching!
Tot de volgende keer
(Until next time)

@@DutchmansAgates oh yes, I know that. My fun day finding agates was with my grandpa. He would tee's my siblings and I. Telling us there's one and, it wouldn't be one but there'd be a piece of beach glass. He'd be laughing, or just be smiling 😃 😊 memories there so fun.

Great video! The Chehalis River has always been hit-and-miss for me as far as agate finds, but it looks like you found a really great spot. I've found the key with carnelians in SW WA is, once you've identified a spot, pay attention to the river water level gagues and time your hunts for just after small flooding events. I was able to fill a 5-gallon utility bucket over a weekend at one of my favorite spots in my last hunt in November that way.

Yeah I 100% agree, it's been hit or miss for sure. I'm hoping to be back out in the spring which is a little earlier than most, as most people usually wait until summer for the water table to drop enough. We'll see if it pays off lol. Sounds like you had a great weekend as well! I never quite find that much, haha. Thank you for watching!

Another great find place!! It sure is fun when you can find a good spot!! My daughter/SoninLaw live in the country close to Duluth MN. We can find quarter size ones out on their gravel road, but it's more fun when we go to Lake Superior!! I hope my grandsons will want to keep looking when they are teenagers, just hitting the ages of 9 year and 11 year this month and next. It is fun quality time!! I enjoyed the Video! Have a Super Weekend!! 🤗♥️🙏🏼

That sounds awesome! Lake Superior is of course famous for their agates, maybe one day I'll get to have a little look around lol. Awesome you can just find some on your daughters drive way though, that's super convenient haha! I wouldn't doubt if you've already turned your grandkids into rockhounds, it's so much fun! Rockhounding takes you into some beautiful scenery usually, so it's fun on multiple levels. 😄 Thank you for watching and I hope you had a great weekend also!

Where on the Chehalis River are you? Nearest city would be helpful. Love the video great finds!!!

It took me 4 times coming to the Chehalis to finally find this spot. I either can't get down to gravel beds, or there are no gravel beds, or the gravel doesn't contain agates. Half the fun is finding "your" spot, so sorry for not narrowing it down further, but I hope you have fun searching, as it makes the end result more satisfying. Thank you for watching and I hope you find it!

@@DutchmansAgates "Half the fun is finding 'your' spot" is appropriate especially when you put in the work you have and don't want to disclose your location. However, as a youtube and rockhounder, instead of "go find your own spot" mentality, you should adopt a mentality of "I'm not going to disclose my specific spot, but this is the process I went through to pick my spot". Discuss what resources you used to find out that agate was in the area, and then what tools (was it google maps, was it a certain book... etc.) that helped you clue into the Chehalis river to look for agates. That way, when you say "go find your own spot", you've given the tools on how to exactly do that for the next (and possibly new) rockhounder. It is good for rockhounders too put in the work to find their own spots, but they have to be given the tools to do so.

@@jonblanchard5453 The train bridge might be able to help find where his location is if you look for it on Google maps, maybe. I'm pretty new to rockhounding around south central Washington and have not been to the Chehalis river yet. Mainly because I have no idea where to go that is accessible to the public, meaning it is mostly private property. One thing that I have heard is the best way to rockhound the Chehalis is by a kayak. Also, I have not found any resources that give you a ballpark vicinity to go to. I am not going to drive around after looking at Google maps trying to find a spot, but I sure do want to get to the river one day.

@@gems2jewels "currently rockhounding" here on RU-vid gives a pretty decent video about how to find your own place and what tools he use to look at land including property rights. It's very informative.

@@jonblanchard5453 thanks, I am very familiar with Currently Rockhounding, love his channel. It will take some research, but I hope to find a place on that river to find some nice carnelian. Is there anything else to be found on the Chehalis, pet wood, jaspers? Take care and have a wonderful day.
