Welcome to another video!
I'm back at Damon Point and we found so many beautiful agates!
Including a sard agate, many carnelian agates, chalcedony, and even some poppy aka orbicular jasper, and sea glass!
I had an absolute blast, and I hope you do too watching the video!
Thank you for watching

Thanks for this video, I live in Canada but making a special trip to Damon Point to hunt for beautiful rocks. And those Poppy Jasper were beautiful. I live near the ocean on Vancouver Island and I love finding agates, better than diamonds. Thanks for your fun videos.

Nice, I'm keeping my fingers crossed you find some beautiful agates! I find poppy jaspers pretty consistently at Damon Point, so if you like those I hope you find some of those too. Thank you for watching!

Haha, thank you! I get pretty excited, especially when I find some larger ones on this beach. They're not super common, especially since it gets picked over quite a bit. 😆

Thank you! Yeah they're pretty cool, this particular beach is where I've found all of the ones I have, no where else. I'm sure someone in the comments can shed some light on how they're formed.

Where the beach bends is where the big ones are. I lived in Oceanshores for almost 4 years, definitely my favorite beach to hunt for agates, jasper, and petrified wood.

Ancient Coral Petosky stone is a fossil rock formed from the remains of the rugose coral Hexagonaria percarinata. These corals are believed to have existed before the dinosaurs and thrived during a time when a warm, shallow sea covered a large part of the Great Lakes region. At that time a large reef supported an abundant variety of sea life, including these six-sided coral colony dwellers and the plankton they fed on. This is the small patterned “ rock “ you found and were asking about. Found in Michigan as well. Great haul on a beautiful day; who could ask for more? GHOST SHIP! 😉🤓☺️

Timestamp 10:21 hello, New sub. I think that's 🤔 simular to a honeycomb coral.. or something like petoskey stone. Rock hardness could be useful indeed. Glad I found you. Keep Rockin ' and much respect from the great 👍🏼 lakes 🐢💚🐸 found awesome bangers out there. 🍒 You'll add many more cherries to come. Have a blessed Sunday.
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates Год назад
Thank you very much for the kind comment, and the sub! When I found it I immediately thought petoskey stone as well since I follow some Michigan rock hounders like Michigan rocks, but as far as I know it's not found in WA state. It does seem to fit though. Thank you again, and I hope so too, lol!

I love & live for beach walks like you're on & I definitely end up filling my pockets with treasures like you do but I have to ask; what do you end up doing with most of your finds? Can you make money collecting rocks?
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates 2 месяца назад
Generally I clean them, soak them in citric acid, or iron out if needed, put some mineral oil on them and put them in glass jars to look at. I'd like to turn some into necklaces possibly later. Individual specimens have to be pretty spectacular to make money on. Making things out of it might some side cash, not enough to live on I think. Keep enjoying the hobby! I love how it takes me to beautiful places.

Why do you go at sunrise? Or does it have to do with tides. I went yesterday and found my first agate. I’m just learning. I live in pacific beach
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates 8 месяцев назад
Ideally you do match going out with the tides, but I'm very much a morning person so I prefer to be out there bright and early. Good job on your first agate! It's a thrill every time I find one, still.

We all miss a few. I bet when you get home and look at your video, you'll see some you missed. It happens to all videographers. You could watch for someone looking for sea glass and give them the pieces you found. Do you live in the US or are you just a frequent visitor?
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates Год назад
Does that mean I missed some? Didn't think I did this time lol. I thought about finding someone, but didn't see many at all. I was mostly by myself. I currently live in the US (WA state), my wife's American.

What do you do with your finds?
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates Год назад
I give them a good soak in citric acid, then give them a coating in mineral oil, then I put them in glass jars, sitting on a side table, so I can look at them. :) The much bigger ones I'll put in front of a window, so the light shines through them.

@@evastapaard2462 Ik wil graag in de toekomst een trillende tuimelaar kopen, want ik vind de agaten mooier als ze natuurlijk zijn. Maar wel een beetje gepolijst zijn om ze die "natte" look te geven.
