I take you to Lake Tahoe in an RV. It is such a beautiful place but sad to see the forest fire making such havoc. Thank you for watching! If you would like to support the channel more you can become a patron at / sailingdoodles
Wow your in my neck of the woods my brother lives in Minden right down the kingberry grade I go to Tahoe all the time it's one of my favorite places next to Yosemite it's a must see since your in the area great video I remember these two it was some of your best content with her and Laura fun times great video I do alot of flying out of Carson airport great vlog bobby that's
My grandpa used to go there alot before I was born and when I was young. Never got to make the trip. Now I see why he did so often. Beautiful (minus smoke)and great people! You might have to swing back through next season.
My daughter was lucky enough to get out there in July before the fires got bad. It was crystal clear the whole time with daytime temps around 105*! Crazy.
Bobby, consider this; merge Flying and Glamping Doodles. Have a pilot (could be retired) travel from plane to plane and glamp along the way. You should get a great communicator and presenter. He might even glamp at some small airports especially if he is in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona and California. That's an area with many planes (Flying Cowboys), small strips, and camping facilities.
Would have been cool to do a colab with Senior Brady from Delos as he and Blue live in Tahoe and run a sailing school. That would have been epic. Maybe next time.
Great to see Steve and Loretta again. Great people and some of your best videos ever , with them on Solmate, I believe. Great people. You should have them over to the dark side on sailing doodles on a long trip.
When I grow up! I want to be like Captain Bobby. Awesome Aviator, the perfect Ship Captain, and a famous world explorer. It does not get any better than the adventures of Bobby.
South Lake Tahoe will always have a special place in my heart. I fell in love there but alas, it wasn't meant to be. You went to the Viking house!! I pledged my love there. Magical place!
Have been waiting for this one after seeing you making repairs in Reno. I never thought that you would be going through my area after watching Sailing Doodles for the last year, but you took the show by land, very cool. Sorry the Lake was socked in for your visit, but you certainly made the best of it, it was hard for everyone in the area and so sad to have such raging fires in those beautiful trees.... But you got some great shots of Emerald Bay and Vikingshome Castle in CA state parks, wish you had spoke about that more.....
10:20 Just rode over that bridge yesterday. ITs funny how the google algorithm knows that I was in tahoe and then and goes and recommends vids from channels that I have never seen before.
Nice video Bobby! Great friends and nice Cabin - Except for the smoke it looked like you all had a great time! - Unfortunately we have more fires that started just above Sacramento this year in August and the smoke is even worse! - Part of South lake Tahoe, I believe was on evacuation alert or had to evacuate. I just discovered this channel a few days ago? I have been watching Sailing Doodles for a few years now and never knew? - Thanks I'm really enjoying these videos!
Dang Bobby, what a drag. Your gonna have to see Brian Dennehy and his wife again when the sky is Blue. We live near Lake Tahoe so I highly recommend you let the area redeem itself. Check out Emerald Bay when you get back there and enjoy a Rum Runner at the Beacon. Cheers for now!
You were in the Caldor fire’s effects. The fire later jumped down into South Lake and was eventually fully contained just a week ago. The smoke was in NorCal and along the 50corridor for more than 6 weeks. It sucked, for sure.
Good video bobby reminds me of Australian fires where the fires went down to the water. And people were saved by the navey. It's ccary when u can not see it . Stay safe from Paul Moe Australia
I used to have a home in Lake Tahoe for 20 years. I had to sell my home and I was very sad. I have traveled all over the world and Lake Tahoe is a special place. I lived in Homewood on the West Shore. The East Shore has those Caribbean looking beaches you are talking about. In my time up there we never had a fire that close to the lake. Good thing the fire was stopped at the South Shore area. Please go back to the lake next summer when the air is clear of smoke. Sit out on a porch at night and see how many stars there are in the night sky. It is truly amazing. I would like to retire up there but due to the tech jobs in the San Francisco area the prices of homes are very inflated in the Tahoe basin. More so than Southern California homes.
In the mid seventies I owned a condo in Incline Village on Nevada side. I worked in Reno, NV. I walked about two blocks to the lake. I regretted leaving my condo. Now these condos sell over a million. Lake Tahoe is 13 miles across and 73 miles around.
Great place we took a tree from Tahoe city last month that had to be cut down. But you take your life in your hands when traveling hwy 50 every time. The second cove that you went to has a really cool story behind it.
We were just there on 10/2 weekend. Just a little hazy but clearer as existing fires are still going on in CA. Caught the last warm weekend as its cold there now with a few snow flurries in higher elevations. We took highway 80 up through Truckee and Reno and highway 50 back down from south lake tahoe. Highway 50 was so depressing to watch going back to the Bay area. You could see so many burnt down homes with just the chimney standing up with what's left. Most of that damage was around the Labor day weekend that devastated most of the businesses up there during a major holiday. The roads were down to one lane in many areas as the tree cutters were busy as hundreds of beautiful redwoods were being chopped down. Hopefully all that wood will be put to good use.
Crazy to see how much the smoke is effecting that area. Wondering how this is going to change the nomad routes people have.... BTW you sent me down a fierce rabbit hole the other day while watching one of your boating episodes.... The War On Drugs - Pain.... thanks for the share!! keep up the great content!!
The lake reminded me of a scene from the movie Pink Panther (1978) - Salty Swedish Sea Dog Scene LOL. Bobby you needed an inflatable parrot on your shoulder.
Shuswap Lake in central BC Canada was the same way. Ran with my navigation lights on during midday. Needed my Navionics app to make sure we knew where we were going.
I've been across Donner's Pass hundreds of times while driving semi and have never seen Lake Tahoe, thank you. By the way last time I came across Donner's Pass was back in 2010 and they had a forest fire also how is the last one through before they shut the road down in the fire jump the road.
What does Steve do for work? New Fontaine Pajot, an amazing house in Lake Tahoe, another new boat on the lake... Does being a Brian Denehey impersonator pay that well???
Bobby you were hustling him in corn hole lose the first day then raise the stakes and take all the cash lol. And 68*F is not cold it's refreshing, My buddy has a Cottage about 230km north of Toronto Ontario Canada and his lake is spring fed If it's 68 that's warm but when it's 80 or more out it's very refreshing you just need to get in and then you get use to it
I like this channel may be a little more than the other only because I can relate to this one more I’ve never sailed before ,, Nice job Bobby,,,,,Scott from Louisiana
Love their boat. - it’s a Cobalt, which are great boats. Really the Mercedes of boats. Built in Kansas. Had one for 25 years, high quality. The only downside- expensive!
Bobby, we come into this world naked, drooling, and shitting all over ourselves. That's how we lease this world too. Get used to it. Life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease, nobody ever lives through it. I grew up spending summers on the west shore of tahoe. My parents just sold their house in Homewood that they purchased in 1979. I miss it dearly, but like everything, it changes, and sometimes not for the better. Memories of all the time we spent skiing at Homewood, water skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and enjoying the west shore will always be cherished.
No stop at Cruisers Academy, a sailing school run by Brady Trautman and Alex Blue from Delos... Thought a visit with them would be a good fit, as was the visit with Steve and Loretta, both coming from the same lifestyle you're living now, primarily on the water... It's all good, at least we got to see Brian Dennehy...!!
