I pee on her 4 fruit trees every day (nitrogen fixing), they're coming along just perfectly. All the existing fruit trees at ours are looking fabulous too, maybe we should share that....

Absolutely beautiful. Move in ready and the bathrooms were very nice, modern and hook ups for washer & dryer, what more could you ask for. The stone walls were gorgeous, I loved it and I thought it was reasonably priced. Thanks for sharing. Tell Sarah to enjoy those oranges guilt free.

Thanks Patricia, it is a beautiful house, and you're right, it's english reserve that stops me from pinching fruit when the Portuguese know it's here for everyone. We have a cherry tree that is apparently beautiful fruit, we asked the neighbours who the tree belonged to as it was on the border and they said, rather incredulously "everyone" That's kinda beautiful eh ❤️💛💚

@@destino2portugal I'm very interested in retiring to Portugal. It's a similar climate to that I've grown accustomed to in California, but hopefully far less expensive. I'd like to find a small house, one or two bedrooms with a bit of a view, and reasonably close to a metro area with access to amenities and shopping. I could purchase something in the range of 100K dollars US; or rent a home for $1000 per month or less. I'd like a good kitchen, and a good bathroom with a shower, decent water pressure. I'll also need very dependable internet access, so that I can keep working part-time.

Beautiful home. The hours spent pointing this house must be astronomical. It is one of the better restorations I have seen. What was the heat in this home. Would the AC's he was talking about have a heat pump unit in them? Thanks for sharing Nick. Sarah loves her oranges. Hopefully the trees you planted will begin to bear fruit before too long. We got stopped at customs, I was like "what's this about?!" Oranges said Sarah, my suitcase is full of oranges 🤣🤣 I had no idea. They let them through eventually... The heating units are similar to heat pump, they're really low cost AC units that use a heat transfer witchcraft, they're very popular here. The pointing on this was by far one of the best pointing jobs I've seen in Portugal. Sending love right back atcha 💛❤️💚

There is a ruin and the long wall had buildings along it historically so you could put a large extension on this one. I do hear what you're saying though, it is small but perfectly formed.

Nick thank you for bringing this house to our attention.credit to the builders,the finish is perfection.Fernado, was very good at his explanation is he the estate agent great price great potential. Could you share the location is it central , or north Portugal. I am looking in the Algarve at the moment but , the house prices are going crazy now. We just ignore the negative people unless they get nasty... I've only ever blocked one person and that was last night 🤷 The nearest town is Pedrogoa Grande and Figueroa dos Vinhos (excuse spelling) and the nearest city is Coimbra which is really cosmopolitan but has the vibe of a large town, great shops and restaurants too. Tomar is another close by city, it's really beautiful, we did do 2 travel vlogs of both cities last year, find them here amigo. Get in touch with Fernando, I'm sure he can help you out with other properties, this is in the interior of Portugal, the Coimbra district, it's very temperate and green and the air and water are beautiful and clean. Somehow I must have missed the septic. You would have to get used to well water. Wonder if you could also get water jug delivery out there. Wow what a steal deal! Though $125,000 would be better due to location away from city purchasing locations as now you'd have to transport.

The seatings on the window is called a Widow Window (Janela de Viúva) usually they are on a attic,thats where the fishermen women would seat looing at the sea waitting for them!Same lay out in the exterior,like a garden,its called Lovers Bench (Banco dos Namorados).

Such a beautiful place. I wonder about the tile floors though. Of course they are beautiful but aren’t they quite slippery? Falls are such cause of injury. Also seems keeping them clean would be difficult. Asking this because it seems the nicer renovated homes in Portugal, (and also Spain), all seem to include tile floors so I know they are preferred there. Also, is it possible to hire cleaning help, (perhaps weekly), affordably for an older person? I’m serious in my interest in buying a small property in Portugal.

Absolutely there would be the opportunity for a helper or cleaner, I'd imagine Fernando would know of someone local. As for the tiles, they're Porcelain tiles designed for floors and have a non slip coating that will last forever, they're a perfect surface for floors here and would be really easy to keep clean with a simple mop and bucket and a small drop of detergent suitable for tiled floors. Give Fernando a call, I'm sure he can help you Valerie and you won't regret moving to Portugal, it's heavenly 💚❤️💛

hello destino Portugal, love your videos. i too would be pinching an orange from that tree. is it possible to find out the builders name? we are hunting for a property, but would need a trustworthy builder and they look like they have done a fantastic job. rachel

They don't like to travel, we tried to get them to come and do our roof to no avail, it being "too far" 🙄 So unless you're buying in the Pedrogoa Grande area you're out of luck. Speak to Fernando and see if you can get their number, good luck and happy journey 💚💛❤️

Beautiful place, but I'd like a little more room, what are building costs like? Any idea of a rough cost to restore the ruin?

I think it's around 1500 euros psqm but costs keep rising for both materials and labour so possibly higher than that now

There are various options, the owner is happy to fit 2 air conditioning units in the price or something that fits your requirements better. In our home we are going for a wood burner and back boiler with a couple of rads off it, solar water heating and a storage tank with salamander element. Hope this helps Sheila. ❤️💚💛🇵🇹

Beautiful is the word. A craftsmans's restoration. No open fire. Too many neighbours and too small land area for me. Just goes to show though, if you bought at e30K you can add value. Starting to really see the effort you have put into developing your camera, editing and commentary skills. Not converted to lime yet?

Thanks Noddy, really appreciate your feedback, it's been a long road for you viewers I'm sure 😉 Yes it's possible to add value but that's not what our place is about, it's not about profit or RU-vid, it's about our escape to a new life, but you know that 😊 I'm considering Lime Pointing the ruin but it would be tanked inside to keep the rot away, the only thing good about lime is it's flexible and looks nice, that's it and that's two things 😂 Thank you amigo ❤️💛❤️

@@destino2portugal Yes the adding value bit is comfort that you can justify spending time and money to restore the property, should you want to move house. As many owners of French home have found out, after spending their life savings they cannot recoup their investment and therefore either cannot afford to move or they take a big financial hit.

@@destino2portugal What you and others are showing, is that what we came to Cornwall for is not possible here but it is in places like Portugal. Cornwall is finished for working people. You will have to pay £200K for a terraced house facing the street in Camborne which 20 years ago would have been £30K or less.
