Roy Orbison is definitely a musical icon, with one of the smoothest and most distinctive voices ever. And k. d. lang (that's how she spells it, with no capitalization) has one of the clearest and most powerful voices I have ever heard...I am a big fan! There is a beautiful video of her signing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. You should check it out!

Definitely check out k.d. sing at the Olympics. She also sang "Crying" solo at an awards show. The Grammys possibly.

Roy Orbison had one of the most smooth powerful voices. He could sing real high falsetto & also low. Elvis Presley loved Roy's voice. Roy was known for performing while standing motionless & wearing black clothes to match his dyed black hair & dark sunglasses. Roy had lots of hits in the 60's such as "Only the Lonely", "Running Scared", "Crying", "In Dreams", "Love Hurts", "Blue Bayou" & "Oh, Pretty Woman". In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys (a rock supergroup) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care" & "End Of The Line".

He probably was mourning. He had such a tragic life. He lost a wife to a vehicle accident, two sons to a house fire, he even died at a relatively young age. He is a phenomenal singer! Definitely check out the Traveling Wilburys. Roy Orbison, Tom petty, bob dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne. Amazing “supergroup “

You have to do K D Land along performing Crying live in concert, you probably can find it. Crying again myself, every time I hear this song. Some songs can cut into your gut and tear your heart out. Jeez.

Roy Orbison , one of the Travelling Wilbury's, had one song with them, then passed away, but his song, you may recognize Pretty Women. His legendary songs are so cool....

When Roy sang about a breakup, the world was ENDING. Conversely, if he was in love and singing about, everything was right with the world. Try "Running Scared" and "Oh, Pretty Woman" for the latter.

I was looking forward to watching the video with you until you said your parents used to listen to kd lang “back in the day”. Quit making me feel old!! Lol. I became a fan when her first album came out while I was in high school. The original song (solo by Roy) was from the 1960’s. This duet with kd lang was actually released on a movie soundtrack and it won a Grammy.

Sad song .. poor Roy Orbison, his Wife died in an accident and child died in a house fire years and years ago. He fell into depression and didn't sing for awhile 💔

This is an incredible song. And was a gutwrenching breakup with his wife that drove him to write it. And all of you who refer to his "falsetto" - he did not sing falsetto. That was all full voice. His voice is legendary. Gotta say - your reaction is a bit of a mockery of someone with incredible talent. That's really a bit offensive 😕
