Check out the 1995 Broadway cast of Beauty and the Beast perform the iconic song, "Gaston" during the 1995 MDA Labor Day Telethon! This is a "Gaston" performance that you don't want to miss!
The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.

Saw most of the original Broadway cast when I was a kid (I think Tom Bosley had left already) and the mug sequence in particular remains my favorite dance break in any musical.

One of the directors of the animated version used to say that when they had a problem with a scene: "When in doubt, hit Lefou." It wonders me how he can take so many hits.

Almost all of the new songs featured lyrics by Tim Rice. The sole exception was “Human Again” which was originally intended for use in the original 1991 animated film. Unfortunately, they were unable to find a way for the story elements to work. After the song appeared in the stage musical, the original animation team decided to reincorporate the song into the film.

I’ve recently seen the brand new 2021 Disney production of Beauty and the Beast touring the UK and compared to this the new production is night and day better. Still got the mug clicks but better! This song runs to about 6 or 7 minutes I would say, includes some great trickery as well.
