I've been using this mixture for almost three years now, (on days 3-5) and I find that it works best if you put it on the night before. It has time to soak up some of the oil then. :) (As a disclaimer - my hair is extremely fine and thin, and washing my hair too often dries it out and makes it fall out like crazy. I shower often, but only wash my hair every 3-5 days.)

Those of you saying "you could just wash your hair" that's the point of the video, she's making a dry shampoo to clean up her hair and remove some of the oil in between washes. Also not everyone can wash their hair on a daily basis(African Americans)

I always just use baby powder because I have platinum blonde hair anyways and it matches but it works the best for me! Also, I read that the way to use this is to put A LOT on your hair and let it absorb while you do your makeup and stuff and then comb it out or use a towel and that works the best for me, it feels like i just washed my hair which is great because i can't wash my hair much now since it's dead lol. ALSO YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO GOOD IT'S ALL SHINY, STRONG AND LONG

The more that you comb your hair, the more greasy your hair will appear. Instead of brushing it out after the dry shampoo is applied, I would just run your fingers through it. :) hope this helps anyone who wants to try this!

vitamin j that’s for brushes that have natural bristles because standard detangler brushes are hard plastic that doesn’t absorb or distribute. Hope this helps :)

Ivybirb :3 michaela said what she did because there are other people saying “why don’t you just wash your hair instead of using dry shampoo”. You need to train your hair & do something different. I use to have to wash my hair every single day as well, it use to be greasy & I would get dandruff like crazy at the same time. Don’t touch your hair, oils & dirt from your hands is part of the problem. Make sure you’re rinsing your hair well enough & with LUKEWARM WATER not hot. & rinse it with ACV (you can rinse that out too after but you don’t have too) I like using doves dandruff shampoo, but rn I’m just using garnier whole blends honey shampoo with no problems because I’ve been working so hard on fixing my hair. I like putting a diy hair mask on once a week, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, & 1 tablespoon of mayo is the basic. Leave it for at least 30 minutes, wash your hair like normal. You can adjust it to however you’d like, do some research to see what else you can add to your masks (oats, yogurt, avocado, etc.) I use artnaturals argan leave in conditioner, 1-2 pumps depending on your hair length is enough, use it after each wash it makes your hair so soft, shiny, & it smells amazing my bf compliments me every single time I put it on lol. I only have to wash my hair 2-3 times a week now, I aim for 2 but sometimes if I want to look extra nice I will make sure my hair is freshly washed. I rinse my hair with just water sometimes too now which helps a lottt, still rinse it well then add the leave in conditioner after. I really hope this helps you, or anyone else who might need it. ✨ edit: if anyone has questions I’m happy to answer them. x

Ivybirb :3 the more you wash your hair the faster your scalp is going to produce oil bc you’re stripping it away with shampoo all the time. It’s a cycle lol so washing it so often is the main cause of the oil production being so high. Washing your hair less gradually will train your scalp to stop producing oils so fast
@_TSC_46
@_TSC_46 4 года назад
Ivy_ Bird if it’s because of a grease problem, it’s because your washing your hair everyday. Your stripping your hair everyday so your scalp is like well we don’t wanna die so it produces more and more oil to protect the hair. Start washing it every 2 days to slowly condition your scalp to calm down. Your hair will be healthier and softer. I generally wash my hair every 4-5 days. That’s also cause I have a shit ton and it takes forever to wash and dry lol
@mobstercrow7515
@mobstercrow7515 2 года назад
@@ivy_bird7256 you dont have to wash your hair every day no matter what your hair is like, washing more often gets rid of your hairs natural oil so it produces more oil since its so dry, you need to wash every other day then eventually wash every 3 or 4 days and your hair will thank you

My hair gets oily the day after I shower, so I use the cocoa powder + corn starch. I also mix some baking soda in. I put it in a travel baby powder container and keep it in my purse. Put a decent amount on my greasy bangs and top of hair, then brush it out. Works perfect every time!

These seemed to work well! I personally love Bumble and Bumble pret-a-powder. I think the benefit to powders is that they really soak up the oils, while some sprays just seem to add product and weigh the hair down more. I need to try Batiste again :)

I have PCOS and it makes my hair greasy really fast. I can shower at 7 am and my hair is greasy by 3 pm. I have to wash it either every day or every other day. I will usually do it every other day just to save water and not damage my hair. Anyway, when I need something done before I wash it then I just use baby powder. I have used dove and it's okay. Makes for a great messy bun or pony tail with the DOVE. But baby powder is cheap and when you do it right it really helps and doesn't leave a white layer on your hair.
@MorganMcRory
@MorganMcRory 9 лет назад
I just did this recently, too and I really like it. It's so much cheaper than store bought products (even taking into account that you have to use quite a bit) and I love that I'll randomly get whiffs of Chocolate throughout my day. It does make me hungry, though.....
@DesireeALeonard

I use the corn starch and cocoa powder. I dust it on and let it set for a few minutes before I comb it through. I think letting it set really makes a difference. Gives the powder a chance to absorb.

Idk if anyone's said this, but maybe try mixing cornstarch with activated charcoal since your hair is so dark. I usually use straight AC, but it may not be as coat efficient as store bought shampoo, so mixing it may make it go a much longer way. Activated charcoal is SUPER absorbent too!

I have dark brown hair and also recently dyed it dark red (which is why i had to start up with this even more now cause i want the color to stay a long time) and i just use baby powder. I put a little in both hands and rub it thoroughly in my hair all over my head i just using leave out most of the length of my hair and keep to the roots and a couple inches from the scalp at most and it blends in fine and is grease free for another day.

I use baby power, but I also put a few drops of essential oils to make it smell good. I put it in a parmesan shaker and use it that way, with the shaker you get more in your entire hair faster then if you use a brush. Trick is to EVENLY use the product as possible on roots and first couple inch of gray hair then run fingers threw do the rest of your stuff to get ready for the day while it sits there and when your ready to finish your hair the powder should have soaked up mist the oil in hair and gives your hair body and shine again

In my opinion, cornstarch adsorbed the oil better than baby powder. After using my fingers to rub it in, I used a towel to remove excess powder and from the baby hairs around the hairline. I have blonde hair so no need for the cocoa powder. Although, I did notice I had more clogged pores than usual in my scalp a few days afterwards

Remember, little grease is ok. Shampooing your hair everyday is not good cause it takes out the natural vitamins. Yes, shampoo does put it back in, but its not natural. Showering every other day is okay because it lets your hair to breathe. I recently figured this out and researched this. My hair doesnt get puffy after i shower every day. SO LET IT BREATHE.

I use only organic cocoa powder and it works better than Batiste! I apply more generously than you though with a shaker, let it sit and then I rub it in with my fingers. Besides it really feels good to know the aluminum and other chemicals in a regular dry shampoo aren't giving me cancer etc.. As with regular dry shampoo it of coarse works best if you apply it directly after shampooing. Potato flour is great if you have blonde hair your you can mix it with cocoa powder if you are somewhere in between.

Why are people all up on her shit? "Just use baby powder..."_ Um she clearly said she saw ones for baby powder as well but she wanted to try this one. Get over it. "Just go take a shower..." Some people have different hair types. And some people dye their hair and some don't. My point is, there's obviously a reason she uses dry shampoo rather than taking a shower. Its the same as questioning your own routines. "Why do you do your hair and take care of your hair that way? You could just do... " blah blah blah. Now, isn't that rude to just keep questioning a person? They do it to care for their hair. Plus, I personally bleach and dye my hair all the time. I, on average, only wash my hair once a week. Once every two weeks for a bit after I first bleach my hair. But it looks super gross, so dry shampoo helps it to not look greasy. So please, try to grow up, people. You're being unnecessarily rude.

Sunilda ArkEl i used Johnson but yeah it's pretty much the same every brand. i guess if you can find one that doesn't have a strong baby powder scent that would be better

I don't think it matters if you have cocoa or not since corn starch becomes pretty much transparent when it get's moist/wet/whatever

What I personally don't like about coloured dry shampoos is that they leave stains on my scalp Doesn't this leave your hair feeling "dirty" too since there's brown stuff in it?

I like this one. My hair is dark like yours - the darkest brown below black on the color charts. I don't like using white powders because it makes me look ready for Halloween. boo.

I use baby powders. Have been doing it forever. My mom uses it now I use it to. But you do have to brush out well or you will look like you have grey hair.

you definately need more of this mixture than dry shampoo out of a can, but i must say, i like it more because it's just cheaper :) but i would consider using baby powder, because it wont get sticky if it gets wet :P

It helps if you let the powder sit for a couple minutes then shake it out

I found this thing on Pinterest where you could put baby powder in your hair to absorb the grease or moisture in your hair. I think it would be cool if you tested this method.

I use batiste pretty much every day I don't wash my hair :D Idk if I would switch over to home made 100% of the time, because by the 3rd day, my hair is pretty greasy :P Oh wells, maybe if I forget dry shampoo on a trip or something I can use this hack :D PS I love this series! Keep doing more

Use arrowroot powder and raw cocoa powder with a few drops of essential oil. Much better results.
