i asked a few girls 'why we feel the need to be pretty'?
Me: Why do you need to feel beautiful?
Them: Because I want to feel confident and secure in myself.
Me: Why do you need to feel confident and secure?
Them: To be happy.
Me: How will that make you happy?
Them: Because people will like/love me.
Me: Which people?
Them: Men.
To be loved. Loved by a significant other.
So THAT is what our need to be beautiful comes down to: To be ‘good enough’ for love.
It doesn’t matter if you have boy hips or hips the size of Jupiter.
It doesn’t matter if you are tanned, or dark.
It doesn’t matter if you have blue eyes or brown eyes.
It doesn’t matter if you have a Kim Kardashian ass or no butt.
It doesn’t matter if you have the abs of a lesbian gym owner or if you are wearing that pudding from last night on your stomach.
It doesn’t matter if your tits are so big that you can’t see your own feet, or so small that you need a microscope to see them.
It doesn’t matter if you have long legs or short legs.
It doesn’t matter what nose you have, how big your lips or eyes or feet are, or what your arms look like.
IT DOESN’T MATTER.

The real monster is your own brain telling yourself that your not beautiful not the mirror, because when you look at the mirror, the mirror isn't actually saying 'your not beautiful' it's your brain, that's telling you your not good enough.

I think the reason why girls feel insecure is because everyone on social media worship pretty girls with nice bodies. And other girls start to feel like they aren't beautiful enough because everyone is always worshipping those girls. I can't take one step outside because I'm scared that people will see how bad I look without me being all dressed up and looking nice. Idk I just feel uncomfortable and insecure. I hate having anxiety and depression.

I find myself unique and beautiful. I don't usually wear make up. I think beauty is hidden in our natural features, not makeup. I find people around me unique and beautiful, and when you think you saw all the beauty of humanity, they keep comming. White. Black. Yellow. Ginger. White hair. Blue hair. Thin. Thick. Every single trait can be beautiful, as long as your soul is beautiful and humble. GabrieleMBest00 I have always loved myself and thought for myself I just like wearing makeup because I enjoy to me it's art not beauty I know I look beautiful with or without make up but makeup is my passion and I love it h you don't have to let go of make up to realize your beautiful if I feel like going out without make u then I will if I feel like putting on makeup wether it's the grey lipstick or the red one I will and no one has the right to tell me that I don't think I am beautiful because I wear makeup

i'm the type of person who, even if i did have a good day and thought i was beautiful, wouldn't walk through either door because I'd be conscious of what people around me would think of it. I would be worried that if i did walk through the "beautiful" door, people would look at me and think "she isn't even beautiful" or if I walked through the average, people would think "she's ungrateful" or whatever. I know it's an unhealthy mindset to have, but... I'd rather walk away knowing that how i thought of myself- negative or positive- was not exposed to the public. It might sound strange to others, but it's kind of comforting to me.

This hit me so hard, I started crying. I really want to love myself, I want to look in the mirror and say "Be strong, you're a beautiful girl" but as soon as I walk outside I feel ashamed. I keep my head down. I hate that soo much. I could say "I'm beautiful" 10 000 times and yet there would still be this voice in my head that tells me "No, you're not. If I was there, as soon as I'd see both those doors, I'd turn around and say "We're all going through the beautiful door because we are all beautiful in our own way. Average is a false notion. No one is average. Everyone is unique and different and beautiful." And I would make everyone go through it then go through it myself at the end.

destiny Lopez you are beautiful, please don't let what happens to many young girls and boys happen to you too, don't try do compare yourself to celebrities, don't think you need to dress in expensive clothes, or wear makeup, or do your hair to be loved and appreciated. you do those things for yourself and only if you want to, please don't feel like you have to change who you are to please people who don't even know you, the only person in this world that you need to please, is you. People won't fall in love with your slim waistline, or want to be your friend because of your toned body, they will love you for your sense of humour, your kindness, your compassion and your personality. I know when people are young they feel like they'll never find somebody to love them because their jawlines aren't sharp enough or their or their stomach is too flabby, but once you're a bit older you'll realise that love is so much deeper than skin, love is in the heart and if you have a beautiful heart then you are a beautiful person and you have nothing to worry about, so keep doing what you love to do and help other people when you can and good things are sure to come your way. You deserve nothing but the best so don't settle for anything less. You are beautiful. You are strong. And most importantly you are worthy.

When normal people meet you they don't notice the small details that you see looking everyday in the mirror. They notice your movements, the vibe you give, your inner self that you express unconsciously through your attitude. If you smile and laugh and if you're confident and show that you're not afraid to show yourself to others no one will care about that flaw that makes you human. i have thin straight black hair. my face is round and i have chubby cheeks. my eyes are big and my upper lip is very thin. I have small boobs and a short rectangular torso, average hips and average thighs. long legs. I'm petite standing at 4'11. sometimes i feel like I'm not woman enough because I'm so short and because sometimes i need to shop at the little girls section. my face is the flattest, longest and thinnest face ever. My nose is wide and eyebrows extremely low, my eyes are really small. My lips are full, but my jaw is veeeeeeery long and I almost have an underbite and maybe will get it in the future. My eye color is really boring, it's just brown without any tint of green or yellow or anything. I have pimples everywhere and kind of look like a dude, I hate my life. And btw, I have no boobs or butt or anything which makes me look even more like a guy. Still there are some people who call me pretty and I have no idea how. I'm really trying soooo hard to see it myself, but I can't, I just can't.

I find every freaking person beautiful and I always, ALWAYS find something to compare myself to them with. I can go on for hours about how there is not one God damn person in the world who is not beautiful except myself. I avoid mirrors everywhere and anywhere when I'm with family or freinds and then when I get home and I'm alone I spend hours just looking in the mirror and critisizing EVERYTHING about myself. U can't freaking escape and it's so hard. I pretend like I put makeup on for myself and that I straighten my hair for me when I just do it so somebody can notice. So someone gives me recognition. Or how about when you get a compliment and it stays with you for a good few hours and in those hours your the happiest person until, until you find a mirror or the stupid voice in your head reappears and says "Your ugly. That compliment was a lie" and you go back to being upset. I also feel like I'm the only one self-conscious and everybody loves themselves and walks around all confident. I always look at those people and others think I'm judging them for them loving themselves and being "cocky". But I envy those people. I wish I could wake up and be like "Daaaammnn I look good today." BUT I'M NOT! Instead I wake up and look straight at my flaws right in the mirror. Whoever invented mirrors was a stupid human being. Ugh. Sooooooooooooooooo I don't rlly know how to end this rant so BYE YOU! YES YOU! THE PERSON WHO IS READING THIS IM TALKING TO YOU! GUESS WHAT?? We can not escape it, we can all say "easy don't conform, be yourself, stop trying" but when you do and you feel the vast difference in the way people treat you, consciously, subconsciously you can't help but go into survival mode and paint on your smile, burn your hair into submission, skip that fulfilling meal, choose the workout over the family time, wear the uncomfortable shoes or clothes, I feel like it hurts to be superficial but it hurts to be ignored as well, wether it's in the work place, in a social setting and the worst, with your significant other, in every aspect of life, I feel like it's either conform or get left behind...😢 all I can do now is encourage my son & daughter to appreciate the beauty of the soul and to teach them to never instantly judge a person based on their outer shell

it is so important for people to understand how less our looks really matters! NOBODY will stand by your side just because you're spending all day puting your make up or choosing perfect clothes. But I can asure you, that if you're amazing inside, than NOBODY will leave you because you have few more kilos or small boobs, guys, really! REMEMBER THAT, because I know it is sometimes hard to get that looks doesnt matter. I've recently lost friend because he couldn stand how he looked, and this is MADNESS. Don't do it to youself. this no lie made me tear up. so many moments in which ive felt like I'm not beautiful, so many times I've stared at myself and just gotten mad bc I feel ugly. so many times I've grabbed my stomach fat and wished it would just disappear. so many times that my insecurities have destroyed my relationships. beauty is not defined by looks. society had just made it that way.. and It truly sucks.

I think this video is great, you deliver such a powerful message, I especially liked the part where the girl said she spent 45 minutes of her day trying to look good, and say it's for herself but it's not, because I think we are a lot in this case, i know i am, and many don't even think about it, it really make you think about it !

"Beauty is on the inside, believe you're beautiful" easier said than done, at the end of the day it all comes down to looks, you can't change the mindset of everyone in the world. Probably the first reason of having a crush or being attracted to someone is looks, then comes personality. It just the way the world is. Now you can choose to be confident in yourself and give yourself some worth But saying looks don't matter or we ourselves don't care about looks or other people's perspectives of our appearances is nothing but a lie. Be self confident but realistic

I think im the only guy who cares about being attractive, like, everytime I see a model or a person who is handsome or has a really beautiful face, I want to cry, but I dont want my friends to laugh at me or my family to worry about and start lying "you look good" agh. Im impressed of how some girls are saying they are ugly when they are beautiful, I cant even post a picture of myself bc everytime I look at my selfies or my reflection I see a someone who looks horrible and I wish was dead

Alex Aguilar Don't say that! Everyone is ok the way he or she is. It doesn't matter if your appearance isn't the ideal appearance cause nobody is perfect. What is really important, is your character and your heart and there will always be someone who thinks that you are beautiful- your face, your body and your character.

Lol I don't wear makeup because of this , we don't need to look perfect . models only look 'good' due to photoshop I don't like people being labelled pretty , average or ugly because everyone is beautiful ! :) 💗 💖 people know me as the person who is nice to everyone . Очень глубокое видео...затрагивает стереотипы навязываемые молодым девчонкам, которые и так красивы, но просто не видят и не замечают этого, не принимаю себя такими, какие они есть. И ведь всё правда. всегда хотим понравится, выглядеть привлекательно в глазах других. Но наверное забываем самое главное...что если мы сами себя предаем, предаем свою внешность, свои амбиции, то во что мы верим ради "мишуры" и всего этого искуственного пафоса... Любить надо душу. Быть смелым и просто быть собой. Ведь мы все уникальны, красивы,...но если не видим этого в нас самих, то кто же увидит? И главное не размениваться, не надо никому ничего доказывать. Очень сильная работа, спасибо за неё. Заставляет задуматься.

I remember reading a survey that said that whenever we look into the mirror we see ourselves as a lot prettier and more perfect than we are and I just thought we'll then I must look a million times uglier then I already think i do because I already feel like such a hypocrite whenever it is about my looks ! I see Beauty in everyone else and admire stuff about them that I would hate on myself ! And I remember thinking that if I am even uglier than i thought I will never find a guy and like die alone and that survey broke my heart ! No boy ever even cared about me. After a couple years I thought I was some kinda genderless thing and stopped thinking about dating/love. But I realized that I am pretty and a cool person, they just didn't notice. Getting confident about yourself is the key. You really just need that and everything will be ok :)

After so many years of every member of the male gender ignoring me, calling me unattractive, or saying I need to be like x, I'm convinced I'm not attractive. The first guy i liked when I was 15 (he was 17) told me that the only way I'd be dateable is if I had plastic surgery. Guys give me looks because of my hairy arms. They ask me why I won't shave them, followed by it's gross that I have so much hair on my arms. I was always called fat and ugly. I'm 20 and still never been asked on a date or kissed. I'm painfully lonely and I don't know why. I always try to be as nice as possible to people because I don't want them to ever feel the way I do. I wonder if one day I'll finally meet someone who doesn't think I'm ugly. I know I have acne scarring, and I'm pale. I was bullied for those too. People would always say pale is ugly. And even now I get asked why I don't tan and people tell me to tan because my skin is gross. So, I don't know how to feel.

Every single day of my life, I see boys taking "medicines" just to get stronger and have this sexy body we see on TV, so they can get attractive enough for girls to notice them, and I see girls starving themselves to death to have this skinny body we see on TV, so they can get attractive enough for boys to notice them. There was a time I used to look at myself in the mirror and think: "why can't I be perfect like these celebrities?" It took me a lot of effort to understand that I'm pretty inside and out, no matter what other people think... So, people, take this advice for life: don't let other people and these stupid rules of "beauty" let you think any less of yourself. It's hard to see through this and I think we'll always have moments of insecurity, but it's important to understand that we are ALL pretty (men and women), with flaws and everything :)

I'm a teenager, my body change. I have no hips but I have boobs. My face are round, I have little eyes, little nose and big lips. I try to say to myself I'm pretty but allow the people around me say I'm ugly. They said is a joke but is touching me. I think I'm ugly. Everybody is beautiful why I'm not? Why I do use makeup to feel normal/ok? Beauty standard are destroyed me.

I can relate myself to this video... When i was in my teenage i suffered depression because people used to say i am not pretty like my mum... I fought really hard with depression... I just remind myself that the "pretty" girls are pretty because of their makeup, extensions, angles, lighting and tight clothes. Yes, there are naturally beautiful women but society seems to focus on the ones whose beauty isn't natural.

The video's great. I deal with this kind of self impression nearly everyday - not myself but friends of mine. I myself think I am quite pretty, okay... I am a bit chubby and don't have the most beauiful hait but in general I am okay with it but a friend of mine...she's so pretty and with any compliment I tell her she directly quit it. this is heartbreaking, mainly because of how true it is. we try and fit ourselves into this impossible mould, comparing ourselves to these impossible standards set by society and to be honest, who even gave them the right? what gives them the right to tell us what's beautiful and what's good and what's bad and how we should dress and look and feel and express ourselves. everyone has the right to be themselves and one of the most heartbreaking things is that these fears and these worries are embedding themselves in the minds of children, at a time when they should be allowed to be children and not worry about anything, they're worry about everything and it's so sad :( youtube needs more videos like these.
