Thanks so much for your interest in my videos and my brand "TheSalonGuy". It means the world to me! Watch celebrity Red Carpet Interviews, Fashion Events, Hair Shows, Celebrities, Motivation, Inspiration, Hair Tutorials, How To's, Education and videos in the Salon and Beauty Industry.
I started TheSalonGuy brand 5 years ago after the passing of my Mother and discovering a role model of mine who has a few books on turning your passion into a business. I have spent the last 20+ years in the salon industry, tech and fashion. I left the industry at some point to become a Fireman and Aux. Police Officer. I did 6 years service and resigned shortly after 9/11.
I have a passion for helping people, educating and motivating. I work with major brands, local businesses and individuals looking to expand and grow.
My videos will be focused on celebrity hairstyles, athletes, models, actors, social media stars and event videos.

Thanks so much SG. I unfortunately listened to everyone who told me not to pursue my passion and now I'm nearly 50 years old and starting from the bottom. I'm not sure where my new career in hair cutting and barbering will lead but I don't regret finally making a start. I'm in my element esp when cutting hair and I truly love your videos. Thanks again. Chaieomie from the UK.❤

Thank you, this video helped me and i am not even going to be a hair stylist i am starting a personal training business. I love all your videos and appreciate all you share about hair. But this message was great because it reminded me that no matter what our dreams are and what we are trying to achieve that people are always trying to bring everyone down. I had a day that i felt beat down by haters and i watched your video and it reset my mindset. Thanks again!

I know this is an older video and I don't usually comment. I am currently finishing my bachelor's in music after my parents (whom I live with) instructed me not to pursue a career but an education first. I was really crass about it and had a terrible first two years of college, but then I realized that once I changed my attitude and had a "roll with the punches" attitude, it changed my life. I started my own successful business pertaining to my field of study but I still run back to cosmetology, and I will be pursuing it once I finish my degree (literally, as soon as I finish my last final, I am marching into my stylist's salon because she already has contacts for me for apprenticeship programs where I can study under her). What sold my parents on the idea was that I told them that yes, the degree right now isn't what I dreamed of doing, but I've grown into it so much that I'm obsessed with finding out how to make it work. I want to do the same with cosmetology. I may not make much money and it may be a side hustle, but I've got that entrepreneurial spirit and the drive to somehow make it work. After that, they saw the fire in my eyes and my passion for not just the craft, but the working through the hard parts towards success, and everyone who tried to scare me off completely backed away and the people who were too scared to support me have come out from the shadows. Such beautiful advice, thank you Stephen!!!

I can relate to this, as I'm trying to start my own business as well. It's an uphill battle and there will always be Negative Nancys. But if it's something you truly love, then their opinions should naturally fall by the waste side.

I literally said that exact thing on another thread a couple.of hours ago. Word for word. Freaky! And it had nothing to do with hair, but I said it about narcissistic friends.

I was in this situation at the end of high school. I finished with honours and a scholarship to art school. At the same time I wanted to be a barber. My parents talked me into becoming a teacher. I finished graduate school with a degree in languages and linguistics. I worked for two years as a teacher. I hated it. I ended up working for many years successfully in business. I still painted and drew, while my passion for barbering grew. I was able to take time off work and I went back to school to become a barber. I’m at the cross roads in my life where I will give up my job for a career that I hope will fulfil me. I don’t think my parents wanted anything, but the best for me. That said, I think it is important that you follow your heart and your head. There is nothing wrong with starting out in a different field and then changing in whatever direction points you. I don’t think it’s about haters. It’s people who care for you and don’t carry your passion. They don’t understand it and probably never will. If you want to take a certain path, you need to make them understand that you want to get into hair dressing, bread baking or candle stick making. If you need their support, this will help you along the way. If you are independent enough and can support yourself, then the choice is yours -passion vs opinions.

TheSalonGuy It hasn't always been easy and I became a barber late in life, but that won't stop me. I still have time left and feel young at heart. I hope do a refresher next year and a couple of advanced courses - after that who knows where I'll go from there.

Job discrimination is all set in people's mind. they have a list which is no1 career and which ones are last in terms of so called reputation, social image etc.. they either have superiority complex with some sort of guys Or inferiority with some one. They never pride themselves.. You can't help .. just follow your heart... Have faith in yourself...
