Patients have a right to know about their care. However, reports on state-identified problems in hospitals have been kept hidden from the public for decades. HB 49 by Reps. Klick, Lalani, and Senator Kolkhorst will make hospital reports public once again. Becky Berend shares her story with lawmakers on how her mother tragically died in the hospital while getting a heart transplant.
Becky's family learned three years after their mother's death that the hospital had used incorrect statistics while advertising their success rate on heart transplants.
