Becky, I’ve only heard you play the fiddle (really, really well I might add). You’re a good rhythm guitar player too! Ned is one of my banjo heroes. You two are awesome on this! Thanks!!!!

I have been learning to play bluegrass guitar, love Angeline the Baker, this was the first vocal cover I found and I was hooked... on the song, and on Becky Buller's vocals... love the rhythm cover instead of the normal fiddle tune... thanks Becky! And Ned, the fiddle tune played on the banjo is outstanding, thanks!

Excellent! Lot's of people playing Angeline the Baker, but this gives a more folky and less bluegrass vibe, along with perfect vocals. Thanks so much for sharing... PS: Why is this the first I have heard of Becky Buller? Love her!

The reason you had never heard of her before is probably because her music isn’t very popular.

Becky, I've come back to this video at least a dozen times, led me to search much more of your music on YT... I love your voice and guitar playing, you and Ned together are a real powerhouse. I notice your right hand has a "floating brace" against the fingerboard... I keep trying to play this way as I think it's the most versatile melodic rhythm technique... not easy to play smoothly that way!

Sure did. Thanks to Barry for the fast shipping and great service. I love it. I've had it three days (it's a Goodtime 2) and have put in about 8 hours practice already. It's beautiful, feels very well made, and sounds great. I'll play it every day. Thank you Deering for a great banjo...I have a feeling it is the start of a Deering collection.

Becky, fantastic vocals and playing! Are you playing professor Dan’s Thompson or is that yours? I bought a Thompson Brazilian in September. Phenomenal guitar.

Just as an aside, the original author of Angelina Baker wrote some excellent lyrics to this tune. Both the modern melody and lyrics seem to have diverged from the Stephen Foster version enough to be more or less just a different song worthy of a new title.

Song was also recorded by III Tyme out, written by Ms Buller. I can’t find the lyrics but here is a vid of the other recording. With some work you can get them down. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XYllkj8H-ng.html

Neil makes a common mistake. I don't hear how loud my banjo is behind the singer. He drowns out her. But it is lovely all the same and he plays a great version I am sure all his own.

I’m not a fan of this either, but she’s not what I would consider bluegrass. It’s more folk or traditional. It’s not upbeat like your traditional bluegrass.
