Dude, skate your own skate. Wear whichever shoes you like. If other ppl don’t like your shoes, board, shirt whatever then they don’t have to wear ,ride, whatever them. Keep up the great videos and keep skating!
I appreciate that!! Turns out those flat shoes absolutely kill my feet and actually gave me plantar fascitis last year. Glad you're enjoying the videos! 🤙🏼
I love seeing new people get into boarding, small thing you can try, if you almost bounce into your turns you can carve really deeply and fluidly, its a blast. good choice with Landyatchz they are always pretty good.
Right?! I'm not crazy? I actually just got my first pair of skating shoes earlier last week and... Well, I'm not entirely happy about them for that very reason. Long distance is quite painful 💀
@@ActionXander don't know what the longboard scene is like down there but Richmond VA sucks. Nyc is awesome. I see all kinds of boards, wheels, and shoes. October 15th is the 20th anniversary of the Broadway Bomb! It's the best longboard event. All skill levels are welcome!
@@samuraikaoss1455 so far it's been a pleasant experience down here but I'm going to be checking out the skate park scene soon and see what it's all about. That sounds super sick! Thanks for the heads up I'll definitely check it out! 🤙🏻
I don't think shoes are quite as big a deal on a longboard, at least not for cruising on a non-kicktail board like the one here. the main reason I'd avoid running shoes is the tilt. some arch support is fine, but the sole at least needs to be flat cause otherwise it will mess with your balance. random tip: one thing that helped me learn balance and stance faster was learning how to pump. I can't tell if the technique is actually useful or just a novelty. it certainly looks ridiculous. but it definitely increased my comfort in whipping the board around faster, which helped me get comfortable with going faster + leaning more for turns.
Love the RU-vid username 🤣 thank you! Appreciate the reassurance haha but I did get some skater shoes and I will be giving them a try now. I've been trying the pumping and I still need to work on it. It kinda feels like you have to try to sink into your board and shift your hips like you're going to go into a carve? It's definitely a strange technique for me. I'm gonna be honest, I already want to get a board with kick-tails 😅🤷🏻
Thanks, Nimo! I absolutely love my Drop Cat!! The Vibes colorway is super dope too just a shame I got a nice big ol' scar running down it now LOL 😂 glad you enjoyed the video!
Same here, but in Italy 🍕😁 I have found that LDP, maybe with a flexy board, it has similarities with Snowboarding in high speed carving. I would recommend to anyone living in a flat area. And my channel happens to be about that 😁
I have a drop cat 38 seeker myself and I absolutely love it!!! But if you put 85mm 77a caguamas on it with reds, you're gonna love it even more, it's just AMAZING!!!
My first board was also the drop cat 38. I recently replaced the plow kings with orangatang 85mm wheels and put the plow kings on my cruiser board. Which I personally think was a good improvement for my surrounding area and riding style. I've also recently bought a Loaded Icarus, and I have to say that is much more enjoyable to ride compared to the drop cat in my opinion. It's much more flexy which I really love. I do still prefer the drop cat for long distances and going down hills though (not extreme hills). But the Icarus is also a good 200 euros more expensive where I live. But if you really enjoy carving and such I would really recommend that one. And the best way to improve at longboarding is just by doing it a lot. I bought a cruiser board pretty early on after I started getting the hang of longboarding and have used it to go basically everywhere ever since I had it. Once I started doing that I really started to improve very rapidly. Keep it up and you won't regret taking the time to learn it!
Yooo thanks for the insight, Kartoitska! I'm very much in love with my Drop Cat! I've heard amazing things about the Orangutans I might eventually give them a try as well. Landyachtz has a sale going on now and I actually got myself a cruiser board as well so I can try skate parks 😅 I think I'm following your footsteps so far LOL 😂
I’m a beginner as well and I was looking at the drop cat either 33 or 38 over a pintail for narrower paths. I really think you got the perfect board for you
😂 I went to that store on Lincoln Road as well. I ran out so fast. Total rip off, insane. Order a carver surf skate it’s pretty fun but I like speed so I ordered a Pantheon Pranayama last night. I’ll probably sell the Carver.
The definition of a tourist trap, that store. I got this Landyachtz longboard for almost half the price they were selling! I actually did end up grabbing a cruiser skateboard, I just haven't had the chance to hit any skate parks yet with it. Let me know how that Pantheon is!
I'm considering getting a long board because I'm really interested in the dancing style and this was really encouraging for me, thanks. Anyways, I'm rooting for you!
Love hearing this! You won't regret it! Since then I've also purchased a cruiser skateboard to try to learn some tricks and go to my local skatepark as well. I'm actually looking at getting a dance longboard myself too so you gotta tell me what you think! Appreciate the support and I'm rooting for you too 🤙🏻
Don't worry about the shoes. Great choice of board. The Drop Cat is great for begginers and for experienced longboarders. You are doing fine. Try to turn your front foot across the board more. It will give you more control. Learn to 'foot brake' to slow yourself down. But it's all good.
Yooo thank you so much for the feedback, Chris! I love my Drop Cat so much it's such a fun board to go for long cruises on our boardwalk here. Turns out you were right, the shoes only matter so much with longboarding! Thanks for watching bro 🙏🏻
My biggest struggle learning and advice is give to you is front foot balance. As putting weight on the ground as well as your board when pushing slows you down and can injure you. It’s real hard. The guy I hung out with didn’t get the hang of it for ages, till after he messed up his hip. Some day I’ll get it down
Appreciate the advice, Chris! You're definitely gonna get it down it's just gonna take practice! I've been focusing on getting most of my weight down on that front foot as well and it's certainly helping me with my balance and picking up better acceleration for my board. Sorry about your friend! Wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping he can get back out again
The whole point of the video is showing a beginner journey, the whole point is to show skill progression. If you're not here for that then you clicked on the wrong video.
