It’s so scary that this popped up on my feed bc I’m going to school for dental hygiene and I’ve been thinking about changing to a medical esthetician...

I am a late bloomer when it comes to realizing I’m unhappy with my career choice. My “passion” had always been dental hygiene (coincidentally lol) and then after entering the field I struggled to find my groove. Entered college yet again to get into nursing, switched halfway through to psychology (that side spoke to my heart) and then when I realized I couldn’t get very far with a bachelors in psychology I switched BACK to nursing and here I am at 35 years old suddenly realizing THIS is an option for me that encompasses a multitude of possibilities without the commitment of a masters degree that I would otherwise need. All that to say, thank you for sharing your experience and being so thorough!

I so agree, people here on RU-vid isn't as open and I really appreciate you being open and giving us your experience as an esthetician.

Im 16, I've been so stressed about my future but I feel so relieved now that I have an idea of what I want to do!

I wanted to be an accountant so badly then a month in college I realized college isn’t for me and neither is accounting I always loved skincare ever since I started getting acne it just became such a big interest in my life for years so I’m currently thinking abt dropping out college to become an esthetician. Queen I love this! I am currently in school to be a dental hygienist and have been in school for a year now and realized I was doing this more to make my family proud. I have always been intrigued by skincare and learning about new products and I also have wanted to build a clientele for something and run a business because i just think that’s so sick! Anyhoo this past weekend I decided I am dropping out of school and have a couple tours coming up for aesthetics and I am SOOO excited!!!!

Went from wanting to be a surgeon, to a pediatrician, to now either doing neonatal nursing or being an esthetician. Good thing I’m 18 cuz If I go to nursing’s and it ends up being too much or just not realistic even tho I’m taking initiative to get a certificate from programs THANK YOU for this video cuz I’d rather pursue something that makes me even more happy than something that will make me doubt the quality of my life!!!! I watched your videos before attending, and now that I have completed my certification watching your videos, take on a whole new appreciation and understanding. I graduated in May and I’ve been working since June as a Dental Hygienist- you made the right decision! Even during hygiene school I knew it wasn’t for me, it’s a great paying career, just not one I can do and be happy! I’m looking into esthetics now, thanks for the video :)

I have also been set on going to school to become a Dental Hygienist my whole high school years, and then I started to work in a Total Woman Gym and Spa right after i graduated high school and became close to a few estheticians there, then i changed my mind on what i wanted to go to school for the more i learned about Esthetician! I really enjoyed you sharing your experience and how much passion you haven this field. You're very beautiful and when you said your mother saw the light in your eyes talking about becoming one, she's completely right because I could just see in you right away in this video. i always wanted to be a dentist & then moved onto being a dermatologist. did my fall semester & basically had a breakdown over how many years i had to go for & how rigorous the curriculum is for my career. came home for break, realized i’d rather become an esthetician. basically all the same things i wanted with a dermatologist but less school & debt. withdrew & immediately enrolled in an esthetician program! so hearing your story & realizing how similar our situations are is so amazing. i’m so happy to start my journey in esthetics!

I start April 26th for Esthetics, spa management & electrolysis. Can’t wait 😊 ! It’s 2 years In school but I am so ready.

I am so so thankful and just so appreciative of you doing this video and being honest that I'm going to save this video so that I might be able to show others in my city and state from someone that is a esthetician I wanted to take it up start thinking about it over the summer time unfortunately a few negative blocks came in a way that I shouldn't have allowed to detour me but it did I'm glad to see this because in the state I'm in which is Michigan is the school that was offering this course for 8500 when you go by financial aid you will still I owe $4,000 which is not terribly High however I think I would be highly upset if all I made is $10 an hour considering minimum wage is about 9:50 January of B 965 so that's not no more than $0.35 less difference that would have me highly pissed off I think it's a crying out shamed that everybody goes to school and do what they're supposed to do to learn this beautiful field and it's an insult to us who want to learn and how low the pay is and this is not the first that I've heard or seen of this this seems to be typical that's happening in this field which shouldn't be finally I suggest that you go right back and get your instructors license because once you become a license Esthetics instructor now you can command higher pay in the groin salary for esthetician instructor part-time it's 35,000 full-time is more like 50 to $60,000 with health benefits and it looks better on your resume I don't know how many clock hours you had to do for your license but it's well worth it you would make an excellent instructor You Got What It Takes thank you so much💇🏼💇💎💥💦💫💝💟💤🖤💜🖤💛🖤💙🖤💖💆🏼💆🏽💆💆🏻.
