Becoming the Archetype is an American Christian metal band formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1999. They have released five albums on Solid State Records. Dichotomy, which was released in November 2008, sold around 2,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Thanks for the reaction Shane! ‘How Great Thou Art’ is an old traditional Christian hymn that BTA covered. You ought to check out the original hymn and compare the two! Great stuff bud!

The bassist for this band used to attend my church. I had a jam session with him a couple of weeks with drum and bass. Great dude, great band. So much fun.

Since no one pointed this out and you didn't seem to know the song at the start, this is a Christian Hymn that has been around since 1885. They just metalized it...😎

also the choir at the end is from Billy Grahams choirs version of the song. it's actually the echo from the end of that version beautifully blended into the end of BTAs metal version.

Their earlier album Terminate Damnation has to be one of the greatest metal albums of all time. It is incredible start to finish.

BTA is soooo underrated. I may have been responsible for a decent sum of those plays lol Edit: there are rumors of upcoming music from BTA, but nothing has been confirmed yet. They also haven’t denied it

My top 3 are probably The Awakening, The Hollow, and The Sacrament. Tough choice though. Almost put The Lost Colony in there. The Daniel Gailey solo is really good.

Christian metal carries some really technically proficient artists. The first For Today album titled Ekklesia is one of the most technically proficient albums i've ever heard. BTA is a favorite of mine because of their experimenting. The Celestial album was so fucking funky.

As a 23 year old Music Minister in a Southern Baptist Church, I played this on a Sunday I was scheduled to give the Sermon.... The expressions were amazing. But it wasn't just for provoking, but to exemplify that content and context are king, not how the words are expressed. Was a fun day!

Oh man, you gotta react to some Phinehas now. The guitarist of BTA joined them back in 2015 and they're releasing a new album this year. Super technical too. Definitely check out the music video for My Horses Are Many for starters. You'll get a laugh out of that one.

Good vid!. I pray these lyrics speak to your soul and the souls of your veiwers. Their earlier stuff is more hard core. And this one, like you say is more experimental. But very heavy throughout. They will tour next year , 2024 ,or so i have heard. I hope so. God bless!

Every one of those bands he mentioned is one of my favorites. Saving Grace hell-I mean HEAVENS yeah, war of ages, absolutely, EXTOL 😎 also grew up listening to living sacrifice, and of course demon Hunter! I got to see demon Hunter and living sacrifice together last summer and it was one of the MOST IMPRESSIVE shows I've ever been to, and I've seen Trans-Siberian orchestra, tripping on two hits of pure LSD🤣 (before I met Jesus)

Woah...I was OK with the music (even though it was a rollercoaster) but I am not a fan of the vocal style....no matter what, though, that kicked all my Midwest childhood years of Vacation Bible School right in the GUT!
