Just retired from Vauxhall after 44 years, did my fork truck training at the Bedford truck factory in Dunstable. Happy memories of these beautiful trucks being built in DJ block.
When i was an apprentice at Chester Engineering we had one of these as a wrecker. Such a distinctive truck. I loved it. What a distinctive sounding engine. :)
Thats a damm nice Bedford, I remember there was one close to my home, when I was a kid , you will never forget the sound of a detroit 2-stroker. Haustan.
I Learnt To Drive In One Of These & Fell In Love With It. My Late Father Had Both Detroit V8 & Cummings. They Really Are Gorgeous Trucks To Eyes & Ears. Cheers For Showing This Little Beauty.
Great video, brings back happy memories when i drove them at Marks & Spencers (BOC Transhield) at Crewe Cheshire as an agency driver many years ago, i also noticed one of the pictures at 5:18 of F.G. Chambers from my own town of Stoke On Trent UK.
Wonderful truck!! I still have a Tm 2600 of my father behind the house, with the two stroke Detroit 6v71 6x2. i would like to restore it but i don't have much time.. I would like to find someone with the same passion to make it brand new..
do you want my opinion? i'll give it to you,the truck is amazing,i love the british trucks i've had a bedford 1965 10 years ago with a mercedes benz engine and believe me,is the best truck i saw in my life but the yours is special

B968ubm in the garage used to be an Arthur oakley transport from Hereford all his Bedford were ubm I had b926 ubm a day cab running out of metal box neath
Was it left hand drive when you got it or have you changed it over? Just wondering if it was an old Arthur oakleys one as he had a few 4x2 ones. You’ve done a great job on her looking the dogs b’s. He had a day cab one as well like the one in your garage I swear that reg looks familiar to the day cab one he had. Was it from oakleys? My grandad used to drive there and I used to go with him all the time when I was a boy. Be great to know.
It's a 2 stroke engine, so it sounds like it's running twice the speed it's actually doing. If you look at the revcounter you see it's running about 450rpm.
A beautiful looking truck in its time comfortable to drive in its time ? But engine to high reving all the time with the 2 stroke diesel ⛽? Noisey? just needed a leyland or gardener engine 🚂 option? Perfect. For this vehicle 🚜.?low revving powerful and gearbox to match the vehicle. High top speed in its class? Perfect combination.? Lol
