@@juanita6479 I Entirely Agree! Yes, they needed to find a new sound alright, but NOT indefinite, unrelenting Falsetto!!😣 More R&B sound would have been Grrreat! And Robin had the Perfect voice for the R&B Soulful stuff!!😉 Barry just ran that falsetto into the dang Ground! He should have parked it and reverted back to his natural, powerful Baritone voice. BUT those record sales were thru the Frigging Roof!, .. so I guess it was Hard to let go of what was working so well for them!? At any rate, it secured their financial future but their Music was all but banned here in the States for years to come. The Disco Backlash was Brutal and completely Uncalled for, BUT I get it that it was triggered by Over-saturation of All that Screeching Falsetto for 2 solid years!!😓

@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Yes, of course the sales were great at the end of the 70's when the falsetto was at the peak of its capacity, I loved it and I still like to listen to the records of that time, also some new songs from the 80's with falsetto included, but then in the 90s is when Barry, in my opinion, should have put it aside and went back to his beautiful natural voice, but he kept whipping it until his natural voice became a very annoying whisper, when he sang falsetto in concerts by that time it was a complete torture at least to my ears, not any intention to offend him or his fans, that's just a matter of taste. The backlash was a complete hate festival not justified at all, it was caused by the envy and lack of maturity of that DJ who preferred rock music and hated black and gay communities, with or without falsette the backlash would have existed anyway, because young people were moving away from rock music. There is a song by Barry White, beautiful by the way 'Love's Theme', which is considered the main influence on disco sound and I read somewhere that people knew about that song in the clubs because the DJs refused to play it in the radio, the only resemblance to our Bee Gees is the name Barry, but the song doesn't have lyrics, so I don't think the falsetto was the problem, the DJs were the problem and their power over young people.

@@juanita6479 Barry sounded OK on a few songs he sang in falsetto. But, for me, even in his younger years Barry NEVER mastered falsetto. Nope. There are artists who sound really smooth singing falsetto, but to me Barry has always fallen short on that. And I wish he had parked it long before 1990! I really like Barry's natural chest voice. But by the time he finally went back to it his voice was not even close to what it was before he latched onto falsetto. It damaged his vocal chords for life. And Yes, I understand the many aspects of the Backlash. Also the brothers had a law-suit against Stigwood concerning copy-rights to their music going on at that time. It didn't sit well with other record companies, fearing they might get sued by their own clients. So that also fueled the Backlash against The Bee Gees as well! The Brothers were absolutely within their rights. They reached a settlement out of court, but it's SAD it had to ever come to that.

@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Yes you're right, the lawsuit didn't help much either, although I think that it came after the backlash, anyway, it affected them more than any other singer or group because they were the more successful and those who were achieving an overwhelming victory with hit after hit, so, they got punished just for being that good, very unfair.

Nice clip. Okaaay! I'm quite Maurice had his thoughts on the matter. Or was he even asked to be a part of the segment?

Judging by Robin's thinness before cancer was announced and Barry is very gray. I'm wondering if Maurice had died? Or was recovering from alcholism?
