The Bee Gees interviewed by David Frost at the height of their popularity with their Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The program is "Headliners with David Frost". This video was recorded May 31, 1978.
They should be given an Academy Award for the musical soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever before Barry is gone to receive it. The sales were phenomenal and the music unique. Some recognition please👏👏👏
The academy made a giant mistake when their soundtrack or songs were mot even nominated!!! It was a cultural phemomemon for the world. for goodness sake! Then a few years later the Oscars did a skit about songs that were not nominated, rubhbing more salt into the wound! That ended any respect I had for the Academy and the Oscars. The Bee Gees were Holywood outsiders. I consider that a positive attribute!
Barry always took my breath away. They had such amazing natural talent. They made amazing music across 5 decades and multiple genres. Barry is trying to keep their musical legacy alive. Miss the twins and Andy. I cannot imagine how much Barry misses them. He is the last man standing, and we should cherish him while he is still alive. Barry is doing everything to keep their legacy alive!
Normally you wouldn't refer to rock stars as sweet, but honestly, these guys are the sweetest ever! So humble and didn't let fame change them or go to their heads❤️
In case you don't know .... Barry ,Like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, was the creative force behind this great band and wrote 99 % of the Bee Gees songs.. He also wrote songs for so many other artist .. Way too many to even mention here . He was the most prolific and successful songwriter who ever lived. No one is even a close second .He's the undisputed G.O.A.T.
Yes, he looked great in this video, especially when he smiled. The late 70s through the early 90s were Robin at his best, when he was healthy and had some meat on him. His illness ravished him in the later years.
Holy wow. The clip in the HBO doc doesn’t do this justice. So interesting. Frost was a great interviewer. Robin sang like an angel. Always wondered if he got tired of singing that song, but here he looks very happy.
They were on top of the world! How many groups would have sung like that at the show? The Bee Gees were 100% authentic! Real talent doesn't need gimmicks.
Before autotune & pitch correction, there was talent. To the court, I would like to enter into evidence Exhibit A… Shalom Sir Maurice, Sir Robin, & Andy. 🥀
Another thing that stuck me about these guys today is that they were not like the groups or solo artists that could not or would not sing on TV shows for either contractual or financial reasons. Or even lack of actual talent! These guys had the goods and were smart to show them off. It made them relatable and likable. And their fans never left them even when the industry shunned them for a time. They had formed a bond with their fans all over the world that nothing could break. And to this day, nothing has. Millions would pay to see them in concert again in a second if it were possible. I miss them. And unlike many artists, they played what people wanted to hear, their hits. Of course they had so many it was no problem filling a set list no matter how long they were on stage. They are simply up there with the Beatles. I was around for them both, and the Bee Gees were just as good as singers and song writers.
Just love watching these brothers interact. Robin and Maurice were definitely in sync with each other as twins. I'm glad they sang Massachusetts to show they are real talent!
Barry was right. I bought “Frampton comes alive.” Way back then. I still love it. I also bought the Saturday night fever album and still love that one too. Good music stands the test of time. And Robin has the most excellent wit! He was by far the funniest one liner of the 3 of them.
Every time I watch them I can’t help but smile and just enjoy listening to them. They have touched my life and millions of others. Thank you for the beautiful memories. Angelic voices, perfect harmony that only siblings can deliver such extraordinary performance. Miss you all!!!
OMG! This is absolutely the BEST interview of the Brothers! And as for Mr. David Frost, well he Couldn't have been a nicer or more respectful host!💜 Here's the parts I love the best: So funnnny when Mo starts mimicking Robins hand movements!😁And their twin-ship is at full throttle here! When Robin talks about how his friend was cleaning his shoes Mo just Cracks the Hell Up!😅 Poor Barry, he at first Tried to keep the interview on a much more serious level, but NOPE, he lost complete control of the twins!😂 And its sooo funny that both Mo and Robin were taking turns at taking Hilarious pock-shots at their Dad, Hugh!! Did you hear Mo say that they all tried to be born at 12 years old so that they go to work straight-away!?LOL! Yup, the twins were on a freaking Roll!!🤣 And finally Barry just gives up and starts laughing as well! EXCELLENT Interview!! And Robin is just SO drop-dead Gorgeous here!!!!😍
@@ellenmontgomery8533 If you get a few free minutes you might want to take a look at a short interview that David Frost did with John Travolta during this same time period. I was truly amazed at how mature and sensitive a young man that John Travolta truly was! And I had No idea about his former girlfriend dying from the same kind of cancer that his wife, Kelly, died from about two years ago!? (His former girlfriend back then was named Diana, and she was 18 years Older than John!! It seems he truly loved her and stayed with her until the end?) David Frost always seemed to bring out the best in whoever he interviewed. (Just scroll this same channel to find that interview. It's short only about 11 minutes.☺)
The live song at the end was the best live song I have ever heard. Sofew artists could come live on the show and sing a song that is better than what's on the record. Only group I have ever heard that can do this is The Bee Gees.Incredible.
Maurice we were born at the age of 12 so we could start working..🤣 Barry was the best looking guy I had ever seen.. there will never be a trio such as this.. composers, singers, comedians, humble, kind, gracious & loved their family..
I love the part where Robin talks about how their dad heard them singing in harmony, saw $, became their manager and quit his job at the tripe factory. lol
OMGOSH! I have been trying to find this interview in its entirety for literally years! I remember watching it as a kid but have only been able to find clips of it until now. Thanks so much for sharing it!
🥀Amazing Song's from all their albums and there priceless too me. I seen them in Atlanta Ga in 1975 in Concert but have known of them since the 60's on up because my sister's are older than me they played their song's at home. I love The Brothers Bee Gees so much🥀☝️🥀☝️☝️☝️☝️🥀🕊🕊🕊🕊☝️
I love the bee gees. I wish I had met met Robin, Maurice and Andy. Of course, I would like to meet Barry. They are very sweet and funny. I hope to see them all one day in a better life
Yesssss! Finally. I've been searching for both this intervew and the Merv Griffin interview with all the brothers and Robert Stigwood. Maybe you can post that one too if you can get a hold ofbit? That would be fantastic!
@@isabellabourchier3498 thank you. I've seen this one. But the one I'm looking for is the interview with ALL of them as well as Robert Stigwood. They showed a small clipbof it in the documentary How Do You Mend A Broken Heart.

Wow geil.
