@@timothytimothyarts395 yep - I love these perfornances too. Great moments and exemplary musicianship. But I've seen "similar to your comments so so so many times" on every great vintage performance. "No Auto Tune etc". just like my Mum used to say that Vera Lynn and Glen Miller didn't need amplifiers or electricity. The Bee Gees and other bands like Earth Wind and Fire maxed out on the state of the art modern technology that they had at the time just like today's artists do. I totally disagree with the prevailing feeling among fans of great music like this, that these days are over. If anything todays young musicians are among the best educated, trained and knowledgable that have ever walked this earth. They are all over the internet, today's medium... and you won;t find them all over the mainstream media. If you want to see STAGGERING musicianship and live performances that match this but performed within the last two years check out the bands Dirty Loops, Knower, Snarky Puppy and that should get you started. Then instead of swiping at the generations, start attacking the media companies who only bring you the stuff that disappoints you. This response can either be an insult to you (it's not intended as such) or it can be a revelation that talent like you're looking at with the Bee Gees is stiil a major force in the world - just a little more work is required on your part to find it. I hope you enjoy the journey. I am 62 years old. New music is still moving me. It's a great feeling
@@vinniemoran7362 he was able to play bass before the group came back to England from Australia. As well as guitar including 12 string and was progressing well with piano. He was a very clever multi instrumentalist becoming efficient on all the above and also the melatron and percussion. To be able to play a 12 string guitar at 15 years old is pretty amazing in my book.
@@isabellabourchier3498 I agree. What was great about the Bee Gees was they evolved with the times, never resting on their laurels. While they all played instruments, Maurice Gibb was essential for keeping their sound current. Barry and Robin Gibb have both stated this in numerous interviews.
Maurice, Maurice, Maurice.. and Maurice..!! He had absolutly EVERYTHING..!!! Devastating charm, killer eyes, killer smile, hilarious, stylish (the best of all since ever), rifles of guitar and bass from Hell, wonderful pianist, sweet, adorable, falsetto, harmony to die for, great moves, and a multitalented musician songwriter and producer...! No BG’s without Maurice...! He was the G’s spine..! Too often and too many time setted back cos of Barry and Robin's egos.. Maurice performed others falsetto even on FEVER..! Put to Barry’s credit...!!! Maurice was so humble... ! Time to pay tribute to what belonged to Maurice...!! He was FANTASTIC...!! As a man and as a musician..! BG’s FOREVER..! 🙏💔🕊💎🇬🇧
I loved him too. A very sweet, friendly and funny man with such an underrated voice. Closer than Close is one of my favorite Bee Gees songs. I love all the brothers and Andy. Very special people and no one will ever see their like again I fear. Not in my lifetime.
How could one family have such gorgeous sons with so much talent? Phenomenal! Robin has the best voice of anyone ever. He looks gorgeous in this outfit and I love his hair. I also love it, when it was long and red. He always looked handsome. His dancing was great. Rest In Peace Robin and Mo. You are truly loved and missed. ❤️🌹❤️
That question baffles me to this day, but it happened and probably is a once in a generation happenstance or maybe never again because modern music has regressed badly (my opinion). Bee Gees probably would not be allowed to let their talents shine thru as music exists 😅today. Makes me soooo grateful I grew up in the times I did.
I use to go to many tapings of the Midnight Special, seen the BeeGees host twice, one show featured Chuck Berry and the other was a British Invasion show .
@@allanbluzdude - Only got to go there one time when visiting from Canada. Saw Johnny Rivers and the Commodores (Lionel Ritchie). Can't remember who else. Would have loved to have seen the Bee Gees there in such an intimate atmosphere.
I was born in 1999 and just recently started listening to the Bee Gees. I can’t begin to explain how blown away I am at their genius. When they were my age, they were already writing and performing such intricate, beautiful music for people of every age... no computers, no shortcuts, just them and a couple of instruments. That is pure talent and success well deserved!!! The harmonizing at 12:10 is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. They are what the world needs today, not any of that vulgar, overly sexualized, classless garbage. I think my generation would be wowed by the talent of artists like the Bee Gees, if they’d only give older music a try. I wish people would pick to idolize people like Maurice, Robin and Barry not only as artists, but as humans, and stop giving useless parasites like the Kardashians all the attention. What’s happened to the world? More young people need to start listening to music like this; I promise you the world would then just be a little bit better!!! Oh I wish I wish...
You just put my thoughts into words. I was born in the 90s and I so agree with you. When I fell into the Bee Gees rabbit hole early this year, that's when I noticed the difference between the quality of their songs and of today's mostly computer generated songs. Nothing beats the sound of real instruments, including voices. The most interesting part for me is that I listen/watch more their live performances which is something that is not so pleasing with today's pop acts.
Keep listening. U won’t ever find another group of guys even Andy gone way to soon. They all were so talented since little kids. I’ve listened to them over 50 years now the best I’ve ever heard and listen to them everyday. A group U will never get tired of. ☮️
Been a fan of theirs since the late 60s. Some of their live performances are better than the recorded versions. Great songwriters, great singers and producers. Also, watch some of their interviews and you will find them always polite and humorous.
I've seen this video many times, and I am still amazed at the talent of these beautiful men . I'm grateful to have been part of an era of awesome music and singers. They will always be the best of the best...
When I hear Robins voice esp. in "Run To Me" I actually shed a tear. He was my favorite..his voice, the way he covered his ear while singing. He looks so healthy during this time. I love all the brothers, but Robin really got to me.
Robin sang with his soul, it felt like. I was just a little kid back then, but man! that VOICE! And he was just so darn cute! Hubba-Hubba! Love Barry, loved Mo & Andy, too. But, yeah I am & was always a "Ro'-gal!
The BEE GEES born and blessed with this incredible talent, for me and I'm sure all bee gees fans would agree with me there will be no other artists like them, every time i watch them i can't help but tear up, LOVE, LOVE,LOVE them three gorgeous brothers, their music will live forever through their fans around the world ❤❤❤❤❤🥰🎵🎼🎶🎶🎶🇦🇺😢
Wind of change, my new fave Bee Gees song, I love Barrys full voice - and Robins is high but strong. Maurices incredible harmonies , his insane bassline - and that saxo! perfectly crafted soul
I've heard it before while my Main Course album is playing on random and I liked it but this live performance made me love it now. I mean, the Bee Gees sound better, if not, as good as their recordings..
📌 I love it when Rob starts getting into his little dance moves with kicking out his leg; I can watch him all day! Then there is Barry; all he has to do is stand there for us to look at. He's like a model. Let's not forget Mo who was the very underrated, yet very multi talented instrumentalist; he played keyboards, guitar, bass & percussion, on top of being a smooth vocalist! It's still amazing the level of authentic talent each one gave us; including my Darling Andy! Don't forget the hair!! Have Mercy! I will forever be a fan. I'm missing Andy, Mo, & Rob; they were all taken too soon! 😥😥😥💔💔💔Grateful Barry is holding strong. God Bless Him💋😉
Barry so good looking , projects so much excitement and energy. Also love to watch Barry in the 79 black and white concert. The 3 of them, so many many beautiful songs and harmony , is amazing.

@@kaythomas3171 about that reunion whit his children i was wondering how hold were they... There's a beautyful song by Spencer Gibb called 'empty room' which lyrics could be someway referred to his dad , at least this is what i thought when i first heard it.
Music does not get much better than this. These guys are musical majesty. And bonus - all that lush, gorgeous Robin... quite apart from his insanely amazing voice he's an absolute dream. I lost my heart to him so long ago...but that's fine with me. He can keep it. :) xxx
As a lifelong bee gee fan I must say, this is my most favorite compliment of all time! Robin is smiling in spirit that you said that, and so beautifully 😍
@@lenford9645 Awww, thanks so much for that! It's very kind of you to say. I adore Robin and I'm always going on and on about him in comment sections, so I'm happy to know that not everything I say is annoying the fans due to my over the top Robin devotion. I certainly hope he is smiling. I owe him at least one for the millions he's given me. :)
@@juanita6479 Oh thanks Juanita. I'll keep up my Robin squee then! Robin is adorable, and at the same time, he's also so colossally hot he makes me feel like I'm going to burst into flames any second. I love me some Robin yumminess, but you have to be careful with that! I'm just off to hang out in the chest freezer for a few minutes... :)
You Don’t Know What It’s like, performed with Helen Redding is pure magic. My parents woke me up out of a sound sleep to watch this when I was 5. I’m 50 now and have loved them since I was 4. Fan girl much?
My all-time favorite TV program, used to fake sleep until my parent went to bed and I'd sneak out to watch this Midnight special, I believe in was on ABC channel. Then, we had real singers singing live, with no phony lip sinking or heavy alteration of natural voices, like today's musical idiots.
You're right about that! I always thought Mo had the most rhythm by far, and he had a very sexy way of thumping that bass!😉 I am Crazy HUGE Robin fan,... but we gotta give Mo his Sexxxy-moves credit!lol.😜

OMG!! Only Mo can make me laugh during one of their songs! How my Dad loved these Brothers & their music. He listened to their music, almost every evening as I was growing up into my teen yrs.. With my Dad gone since 1992, I continue to listen to their music everyday so I can feel my Dad is always with me. I will forever love the Bee Gees & their Bro Andy who left us way too soon with his angelic voice.

I just well up with tears in listening to and watching the Bee Gees. Such God given talent…the best band and harmonies known to man! How blessed we are. My best to Barry and his family in living out their lives after such tragic loss! 🙏❤️
I didn't know it then, but those of us who were around back then and were able to watch the Midnight Special every week were so lucky!! Everybody came on that show and the Bee Gees were my favorite. Thanks for keeping it going!
The great BEEGEES..always the best! With all their harmonies, melodies and medleys makes their musics so beautiful and the BEEGEES itself. I miss MAURICE, ROBIN and ANDY..may they Rest In Peace in heaven. And of course, I miss BARRY too, God bless him always. I really miss and love the BEEGEES, the legend and very unforgettable. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is a fabulous bit of film from their Main Course era. My favourite Bee Gee album. Such an exciting period of time, when they came back into the focus of the music media. 😊
Helen Reddy to be a man was nice looking as a younger woman. The Bee Gees were/are, amazing. No lip synching, no auto-tune, just the real deal. They never get old and never will.
1975 was the great comeback year for the Bee Gees after 3 years playing in cabarets and half empty theaters. The changing music genres of the early 70s reduced them to being an oldies/ nostalgia group. The Bee Gees new R/B soul/ disco sound found a huge market in the US with great songs like "Nights on broadway" "Jive Talking" and the "Maincourse" album in 1975 and then the phenomenal "Saturday nigh fevert" soundtrack in 1978.
How funny! I was born in 1959 and just now started really appreciating The Bee Gees!! My husband recorded their music and played it and I thought some of it was the Beatles. Then one day I just focused in on the Bee Gees. I don’t know why and I fell in love with them!! I especially love Robin but they are all handsome and talented. You are so right. There will be no other group like them!! Thank you for expressing your thoughts that so many of us can relate too 🌺

I didn't know she did either. I bought a box set if this show. It only has a couple of songs from the 3 pre-Saturday Night albums. Some of these performances in the video are not in the collection. Happy to see this posted. I would love to own these on a DVD or Blu-Ray disc. Something physical but I guess this has to suffice.
🖤🥀Amazing Songs I've always loved The Brothers Bee Gees since the 60's on up I seen them in Atlanta Ga in Concert in 1975 oh yeah I love these Guy's so much🥀🖤✌
Amo ❤️ Robin, me derrete, choro, quando assisto, vejo cantar, dançar.
