Maurice almost never had a solo voice in BeeGees songs, but his voice ranging the lower bass and baritone spectrums was as responsible for the distinctive harmonies as anyone in the group. He was considered to be a master of harmonizing.
Morris was multitalented, he play several instruments and he was the Master Mind for this incredible song, Morris was a Genius in the shadows , all of them were amazing but Mo was the Multi instrumentalist and Multi talented . The Four of them were Awesome .
Morris believed that Barry and Robin were just so good that he was happy to basically be a back up singer, even though he had a great singing voice. Mo was a great all round talent in his own right.
' Fanny be tender ( with my love ) ' will leave you speechless. Btw, Maurices voice is all over this song Try it, you won't be disappointed. Ty for another great reaction!
This is one group that I appreciate more and more with the passage of time. And that's saying something, because I was a fan right from the start. The songs, the melodies, the harmonies, the falsetto, My God! Incredible talent!
The brothers have stated more than once that Barry was the only one doing the falsettos, but this video clearly disproves it... also there's a "composing session" (of Tragedy if i'm not mistaken) where one can clearly hear Robin's falsetto (in a later interview he said he didnt have one, he only had a high voice)
If you wanna hear Maurice singing you should do "Closer than Close" song or "Man in the Middle" those are songs where Maurice is lead singer. Btw great video 👍💕💕
For people who are mainly familiar with their disco era, this is quite a departure, with Barry singing the baritone, Robin singing the chorus alone, and Maurice singing the falsetto's, they were all so multitalented, there will never be another like the Bee Gee's.....RIP Andy💟, Maurice 💟 & Robin 💟
Robin had a habit of covering his ear like that from when they just starting out. Maurice's singing from Robin's right side kept confusing him, so he would cover his ear. Also, this song was written when they were in New York one time on tour without their wives. (Most of the time the wives went too.) It just speaks of how they missed them.
This is the Song the Bee Gees discovered they had the Falsetto Voices. The Producer asked if they could scream or make an excited sound with their voices. They started harmonizing Higher and Higher. They discovered they all had the Falsetto but that Barry could hold it the Longest.
I'm so glad you're going down the road, of musical geniuses!!🎵🎶🎼 I've been listening since I was 11, first it was Andy's concert when I was 12, and since then I seen the Bee Gees live three times, they're absolutely gods of Harmony. 😘🎶🎶👏👏👏 I appreciate you loving them as a reactor. I enjoy your reactions. Keep them coming
Thanks, D-gibby! Love this - Robin is my favorite, but Maurice shines here, too - of course, Barry is always amazing -- the thing is, any one of the guys could sing just about any note (especially the falsettos) on any given day - they were an amazing team.. I miss the twins.. and also young Andy, who just before passing was slated to join as the 4th Bee Gee... keep it up, I always enjoy your reactions...
I adore the Bee Gees. I got to see them in 1978. It was one of the best days of my life. This is one of my all-time favorites I absolutely dig this song it is beautiful.
Oh! I hope you'll react to Fanny Be Tender With My Love. Maurice sings a lot on that one and frankly, it's my favorite of all their songs! Starts a little slow, but then turns into something unbelievably cool. :)
I love how Maurice is doing the falsetto here and Barry has taken the lower register. He didn't seem to take on his falsetto until the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, but I could be wrong. Anyway, please check out the excellent documentary on them that's out - not sure what streaming service, but it's great... and sad since all four brothers (which includes youngest brother, Andy) are gone. So it get emotional because Barry gets emotional talking about the memories.
The Brothers Gibb have a special place in my heart, such raw incredible talent from three classy gentlemen. I loved your enthusiasm for this wonderful group, nice job.
Doing a Bee Gee binge of your vids. Note the bridge in this song and all their vocals showcased. They really were great songwriters. Thank you for reviewing these songs. I really appreciate your personality. A couple of notes, no auto tune or ear pieces back in those days. That’s why Robin always did the ear thing. Maurice does have some songs where he does lead. My personal fave is Man in the Middle live version. Maurice did a lot of the instrumental stuff too. They’re all just so talented.
Man in the middle, fanny be tender with my love, closer to close. Mo's voice is amazing but he liked to be the music composer. You will be shocked how much Mo could of been a country superstar.
Maurice aka Mo is in charge of the falsetto in this song.. Love it! Check out Maurice singing lead vocals to "Man in the MIddle" which pretty much explains his place in the group. :-)
The BeeGees were exceptional; the amazing part of this song is hearing the range of their voices, and hie they blend togethet; the arrangement was brilliant
My favorite Maurice song is “Above and Beyond”. Please try that one “…Late at night I pray to myself, that you and I got everything we need…” I think you’ll like it! I love it!
Bee Gees is my favorite group, i love their songs, I like two songs, i do not I don't know if the Bee Gees wrote , but they sing very great, the songs are : "If i Can't Have You" and the other is "You Stepped Into My Life" lisent , hope you like, great reactions
Bee Gees are so amazing...R.I.P. Robin, Maurice and Andy...Andy was the younger brother who passed really young, Andy reminds us of Barry with his own style, sang solo...Dont think he ever sang with the older brothers....Bee Gees are some of the best song writers out there, they have written for some of the greats...Their sound was magical...Thanks Devin, Peace
The magic of music that we will remember forever. People these days may be able to hear/see/follow thier favs easier. But, I think we'll have the best memories of a lifetime. Take care and enjoy the memories, Peace@@kathleendewey5347
Thank you for playing the whole video before making your comments. They were the best. Unfortunately Barry is the only one left. We lost Maurice in 2003 and Robin in 2012. There will never be another like them.
Some of my favorites with Maurice on lead are: Omega Man (that's probably my most favorite Maurice-led Bee Gee tune), Wildflower, On Time, Trafalgar, Man in the Middle, Closer than Close.
another great song where Maurice is house of shame of there 1989 album i absolutely love that song the bee gees have been my all time favorite band for most of my life i have a play list of my top 100 bee gees songs
Some songs where Mo was in the lead; Wildflower, lay it on me, closer then close, man in the middle, the bridge, Angel of Mercy ( these last two are with his daughter Samantha ), Two that are both him and Barry ; from Cucumber Castle-Don’t forget to remember and the Lord.
Devin, mark the date -- January of 1975 when Nights on Broadway was recorded -- the BeeGees would forever be transformed, as this song was the first adventure Barry had singing falsetto on one of their records or performances. It went over so well, it changed BeeGees music for the decades to come. Hereafter, Barry's falsetto renderings would be synonymous with the BeeGees sound.
Mo almost always did the high harmonies although he didn't refer to it as "falsetto". His natural singing voice was much lower. Sadly Maurice, for whatever reason, didn't sing many leads but there are some. Love your shirt.
As a paid member where you can request one (think that's how it works), pease do "Man In the Middle"--that's another great one where Maurice is on the lead. You'll love it!
Google Maurice Gibb and Lulu singing " first of May" . Lulu invited Maurice on her show to perform Barry's song, First of May with her. Maurice and her used to be married. Even rhough their marriage ended they still stayed freinds. Well he went on her show a couple of months before he passed away actually. He played the song on the piano and they sang that song to one another and i balled my eyes out. It was so beautiful. You can hear his smooth, rich gorgeous voice then.
I was 15 when I saw this show and some how thought it was about him actually stalking the girl “standing in the dark where your eyes could not see me but I had to follow you though you did not want me to but that won’t stop my loving you I can’t stay away” . I think I’m right lol. Now let me introduce you to the host of that Show…..Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat king Cole) this is some of her great music : Unforgettable (posted by fresh mind 773) she’s singing along with her late dad featuring him on screen from his old clips . Lucy in the sky with diamonds (live). This will be (an everlasting love.
I didn’t think too much about the lyrics back then, but yeah, this comes across as a straight up stalker song. And I’m okay with that. In fact, as stalker songs go, Nights On Broadway is my all-time favorite of the genre. 😅
Is anyone thinking about the SNL skit with Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake? What they did was so funny and probably introduced the Bee Gees to a new generation. It's a must see. I love the Bee Gees
