I gave up non stick cookware about 7 years ago. That is when I bought my first starter set of Command Performance Gold cookware, which is the main set you see using of the stainless. I have added to it and love it. I also have a set of Better Homes and Gardens stainless that I enjoy as well. I love the cast iron for its versatility. I have never tried the enameled cast iron but do covet them. They are pricey. I think getting away from nonstick is a good idea. Cancer causing chems!
During a storm in New york, I've baked Noreens Pumpkin Muffins with Strusle topping. Noreens Pumpkin Pie with my Own Pie crust, Noreens Woppie Pies and Katz Shortbread Pecan cookies and crustless coconut pie...What a delicous way to wait out a storm...MMMMM and they were all made with food storage items. People BE PREPARED. I was the only one who didnt have to run to a grocery store to spend 6 hours on a line of people who were not prepared. NOREEN & KAT, GREAT RECIPIES. Thanks,
Hi Noreen, thanks for your great recipe. I use about 2 jars (large) of Heinz beef gravy to my stew...It comes out so delicious and rich. much better than using water or beef stock (too watery for my taste). But of course, to each his own. Thanks again Noreen. My favorite dish to make any time of the year is beef stew!!!
It’s getting warm out here in San Diego, but hey, there’s no law out here saying that one can’t enjoy a hot and comforting bowl of stew on a warm evening. 🍲 Thank you for sharing so many delicious recipes with the world. Be well, stay kind and blessings to all~ ✨
Hello, I love your videos and have made many of your recipe's! I usually don't leave comments just because I never think of it but, I have this on the stove right now and I sampled a small piece of potato and holy cow this is going to be great! I did however omit the mushrooms and celery because we don't like those here. I also made mine in my aluminum dutch oven. Thanks for another wonderful recipe!
YES! Never throw away bacon fat. The best fat and seasoning for cooking! If you keep it in the fridge it will literally last forever! If you keep it on your stove or counter, it should be used within 3 months.
My 7 year old summed it up best " Miss Noreen is making me have the hungries!" He has now embarked on a campiagn to have me make some "just like hers!" lol! I'm caving, off to retrieve a pack of stew beef from the freezer to defrost! Thanks!
He is exactly what you say! We call him a savant. Can't figure out how to get into the catbox, but can ( and I'm not kidding) open a doorknob! I haven't tried the mackerel. I will do that. I have one girl who has anxiety issues. She was scratching herself raw with all kinds of scabs. She does not go outside and doesn't have a flea problem. We started her on tuna with a squirt of some hemp oil as well as a fish oil capsule. Within a week she was healthy and beautiful! No scabs!
I think that would be fine. I wanted to make a bunch and had time. I would make this in my pressure cooker if I only wanted it for one meal and maybe a lunch. I made a ton. We ate it for dinner last night and I just left the pot on the stove. We all ate it for breakfast this morning and I froze the rest. I have enough for 3 more meals! I like bulk cooking, but if don't need that much the pressure cooker would have you eating stew in less than an hour.
I live in NY and yes we are having steady rain , wind and lightning n it got really cold. I got up this morning and thought I need to make beef stew!! Had everything I needed and made it. Came out great!! Having 3 boys (21,19&16 - not lil boys) n a husband I too made a big batch but I don`t have enough to freeze for another meal :)
I live in upstate NY and the schools are closing at 12pm becasue high wind warning in effect at 2pm. I decided to keep my kids home. I rather be safe the sorry. They are projecting that my area is going to be in the eye of the storm. We are prepaired. I am always prepaired for SHTF but I know others (stupid people) that have not and will not prepair but will be the first to compain or show up at your house. I am so glad that the zoo had trick or treating this weekend because its going ugly out.
I love all your cooking videos. I learn something new in each one as everyone does things a little bit different. And who knows, someone else's "recipe" might just be better than the one you are using. LOL I only measure specifically when it comes to baking. Everything else is just eyeballed when cooking. I love beef stew and never thought about browning off the meat as we have always just used leftovers to make it.
Yes, Alienation of Affection is on the statues here in NC, however you can only use it to sue your spouses paramour for stealing them away from you not your neighbor for feeding your cat. It's alright, he makes an appearance from time to time. Knows we will give him a can of tuna. Then he trots back over there. It wouldn't hurt as much if we hadn't brought him with us from AZ 6 years ago. He showed up as a kitten around the trash can on Halloween night. Thus his name is Spooky.
Round steak cut up makes good beef stew meat cause round steak usually needs to be cooked long time to be tender. I cut that up for stew when its on sale! Great Video! We eat beef stew once a week so love see others take on it.
#2 Cancer causing chemicals in the nonstick coating I don't trust. No matter what you do, the coating will, over time flake off. Where does it go? Into your food. No amount of that is ever good to ingest. It's bad enough that we are bombarded with GMOs and chemtrails etc. day to day. We can actually control this part of our lives and choose a cookware that does not have a coating. Hope that helps. Don't mean to scare, just inform.
thank you soo much Noreen, i am making this recipe right now and I'm very excited about it, i actually add some cilantro just because i love it and also to give it a spanish kick ;) thanks again!!!!
So Funny! Might try for the cat box: get the biggest one you can and cut one side down a little so Spooky can climb in. I was scolding one kitty for "missing" the box and found out she needed a bigger one so her bum would not hang over! "Blush"
I got one of my lil guys on Halloween 4 yrs ago... Well I should say he found me... My cats LOVE the cheap cat food and HATE the expensive stuff. I can't figure out why but I'm going to start trying my hand at making my own. I've been trying to find a good recipe for homemade dry food since they like dry best plus I wanted to put some up in Mylar. Gotta prep for the kitties too! Take care :)
I use top sirloin steak when I make stew. I buy it when its on sale as its cheaper than stew meat no gristle and it isn't so chewy. I try most all your recipes thay are the best!!!
i added worcestershire and some bay leaves and dry mustard and a bit tabasco sauce and about 30oz's day old falt homemade left overs bear... and my friend used up the left over drege and added an egg and fresh bear and made a batter up like pan cake batter and just fryed it ...it need salt but was good tasting
This looks delicious , I didn't know they used all different cuts of meat in beef stew meat. I thought they just cut up a pot roast. The weather is perfect for beef stew , going to make this soon ,I love your recipes thanks
i prefer beef stew thicker but i guarantee yours tastes good...if i had a bowl of yours i would've probably added some crackers to thicken it...don't get me wrong though, the way you made it I guarantee the flavor is great. I'm just more of the thick soup type person, as a leftover i bet that recipe thickens up some
Where I live a good steak is cheaper per pound than stew meat. Do you ever add water to your frypan and glean the drippings, etc.? Also, gelatin is a pork product. I cannot eat pork products. I actually have had success with just gleaning the drippings from the frypay and getting a wonderful stew. Also, bay leaf seasons beef very well. I appreciate all of your craft videos and prepper videos. You have a lot of great ideas!
I don't use butter to cook very often but I use butter to brown the meat for beef stew. I also like a thick stew ,so I use about a cup of flour (for 2 people for 2 or 3 meals) I use the whole cup. I put my flour in a plastic baggie (1 gallon size)and put all the meat in and shake it good and then pour the whole thing in a heavy buttered pan and cook it.. I don't care for it cooked in oil, I don't know why, I just don't. I don't add beef stock either or mushroom.
Omg I learned something very important from you today and that's TO LEAVE IT ALONE and let it cook. I made this stew, but mine came out kinda mushy because I stirred it waaaay too much. Other than that, it was fine. Thanks for the upload. Subscribed. :-)
Rfcakepops, Idk if I would call all people stupid who aren't prepared for SHTF. I have family that either doesn't have time to prepare bc of their jobs or they just don't have the money. I guess I'd call those who can prepare but don't foolish but never stupid. Some people don't realize the need to prepare for the worst too. I am so grateful that I have learned how to start prepping and HOMESTEADING. I guess I feel a responsibility to help those who simply cannot help not being ready when SHTF.
That looks really good Noreen, do you agree that stews (like bourguignionnes & chasseurs etc.) taste better the next day? I specified because casseroles are a different thing in the US to the UK
Noreen... I can almost smell that beautiful stew❤️ Any tips on making a beef stew with leftover chuck roast. Sandy from Cincinnati...A long time admirer..❤️❤️😎
a suggestion Put the flour, spices etc in a large zip lock bag..shake, take the meat out throw in the cast iron pan. throw away the extra, much easier.
Maybe u could tell your neighbor that your kitty has to have a special diet. If they feed him anything other than what he is suppose to have, over time it will hurt him, or worse. I bet they would stop then. Stew sounds yummy on these cold nites.
That is about 90 minutes from me. He is only going to get some wind and a lot of rain, just like me. They may see some sea swell and river's crest. Flooding would be the main concern.
Absolutely beautiful! You're a natural at this stuff! Where's Rick? :) Poor guy gets little credit (or perhaps I just haven't' seen him in other videos!) But we know he's eating really well!
Dinty Moore beef stew is thick because it is full of chemicals, preservatives, thickeners, gums and questionable ingredients combined to attain a "homemade" appearance. Real beef stew is not usually that thick. However you can attempt to do so by adding flour and water slurry at the end of the cooking process until the gravy reaches your desired result.
Good for you! There are lots of different ways to do things. I don't' like to peel potatoes and I don't like to lose the nutrients contained in the skins. You do what you like when you make your stew.
Yes, that what stew is all about. Everyone has their own likes. I was just wondering if you left it on for nutrition and sure enough you do. I enjoy all your videos, real down home cooking. Hope things work out with your cat Spooky. LOL
We did. They did not listen. They actually knew two of my cats died and buried them and did not inform us. After a month of searching they “Oh by the way’d” us. Got no time for them. We no longer allow our cats out.
