By all accounts, he was. Before his role as ‘Killer Bob’, he had never acted. He was just working as a set decorator, and as they were setting up a shot in the making of the pilot in Laura’s bedroom, Lynch happened to see Frank working from a certain angle, and in typical Lynch fashion, decided right there and then that Frank was the perfect guy for the role. Lynch has always maintained that Frank Silva was a real ‘salt of the earth’ kind of guy, and all the other cast members have nothing but good things to say about him. Too bad he died too soon.
@@nadircatic3440 That’s a mistaken story Lynch corrected. Frank Silva was moving furniture in Laura’s room, then a woman co-worker outside told Frank to not trap himself in there, which Lynch overheard and inspired Lynch while Lynch imagined a trapped Frank in the room. Lynch then asked Frank if he had acting experience, Frank said yes, then they shot the infamous scene in Laura’s room where he’s hiding behind Laura’s bedpost.
The revelation of who killed Laura Palmer happens early during season 2 ... this newscast was about the season 2 finale ... the audience already knew by this point.
noisyturtle nobody got offended as much by every possible thing back in the 90s, spoilers for entertainment would have been way low in the list. Plus, there wasn't a huge internet community back then
the actor who plays Bob, so nice and friendly. when you see him on twin peaks you think he's actually Bob. rip too as well. seemed like a really cool guy
It's so easy to see everyone is having a good time working with Lynch! Weird but heartwarming to hear Silva talk about his mother etc. I've never seen him talk outside the TP show.
Mike and Bob are the perfect duo, there's some un-used footage from the black lodge sequence of the last episode they use for atmospherics in the new blu-ray set that are AMAZING.
He absolutely does a great deal of acting. Don't confuse a lack of dialogue for a lack of acting ability. He's easily one of the most expressive performers in the cast. I'd say the only people who outshine him on that front are Grace Zabriskie, Ray Wise and Sheryl Lee. His three co-stars from the film.
indeed, im so happy i jumped in on the serie itself without ANY knowledge outside from seeing one random episode years ago on television .... i'm so happy i dint watch the fire walk with me movie or anything else, it was such a fantastic experience!!
I just love actors who play roles that become totally synonymous with their celebrity status yet are nothing like said role on a human level. RIP Frank Silva.
Bob really scared me and I even had nightmares about him for years, but seeing this interview, the actor comes across as a really lovely guy and I don’t think I will be scared to see him anymore.
У Боба (Frenk Silva) очень хищное лицо, он абсолютно незаменим, хорошо, что в "The Return", они не стали искать похожего актёра, а использовали CGI с его лицом.
You might not think much of BOB knowing it was just some lights guy, but seeing him as himself it's clear how great a choice it was getting him in the show. Like Badalamenti and lynch recording the midi notes for Laura's theme and on the screen it ended up looking like two mountaintops, it's all very cosmic Even the show is like that, begins great, most of second season is weirdly bad. Then most people hated Fire walk with me, and ending with the Missing Pages and the mostly beloved Return
The story lives on in Lynch's mind, watch some of his other films, they all link up in a strange way. I just watched a short film he did called "The Hotel" and it reminded me of TP a little. But the stuff afterwards, man, you spot so many connections.
I sent a whole packing crate of dead girls wrapped in plastic to Lynch's house and he never wrote back, I tell ya, when I see im, fella's gonna get a slap
Frank's voice is so different to the rest of his being. It's wonderful to see him laughing and talking normally considering what he is known for playing.
I can't move on when I have finally found the root of all that is stupid. Mr. Pizzafondler, I salute you for your current and future achievements in your RU-vid posting career.
Great news! Twin Peaks will be back but it will air on Showtime in 2016 in a limited release of only nine episodes. Hopefully it won't end in a cliffhanger like it did the last time.
Ha so true. It really is weird seeing this clearly very well rounded likable guy and equating them with the actor who STILL occasionally features in nightmares 23 years on! RIP Frank/Bob
I can see why some people would be pissed about being spoiled, even if the show has been off the air since the 90's. Some people haven't seen it yet and would like to see it, like with me. But with me I'm not as mad because I already saw both seasons. here's my recap, Season 1: Good. Season 2: Good until episode 10, then despite having some good moments; it went down hill. But still check it out (I highly recommend it.)
Yeah he really terrified me as a kid and even made the name Bob scary the way Friday The 13th made Jason scary. They're innocuous sounding names other than that
Not really. This aired just before the S2 finale, well after it had been revealed who killed Laura. Besides, ‘spoilers’ weren’t even a thing in television in 1991.
She did say the last six episodes, so the killer was already revealed. We can argue there should be a window where content needs to remain spoiler free, but its not like she told us anything that followed the show didn't know already.
Things were different back then. Twin Peaks was a very new concept for TV. Serial shows with overarching plot had never been done on tbat scale before.
