I cannot for the life of me figure out why he is so underrated as an actor today, unless he doesn't want big roles. I feel like he would have the potential to be one of the all-time greatest actors.
Ray Wise's performance is a real treat for those that see the show and witness his masterclass. There are many masterful performances in Twin Peaks, in particular Leland was done to perfection.
Its honestly really smart for him to not tell ray he was the killer because leeland didnt know he was the killer! I imagine it would be much harder for ray to get into charecter if he knew from the start it was leeland.
Given the way he talks about almost quitting rather than going through with being Laura's killer, I'm amazed Lynch was able to get him to come back and play Leland again in Fire Walk With Me, where he's psycho-Leland all along and we see him actually murdering Laura.
That is seriously one of the best Lynch impressions I’ve ever heard 🤣 Ray Wise is such a gift to this world. And also personification of Santa Clause in Fargo was sheer brilliance ❤️
@@ronanwalsh6394 Nope. NOOOOPE. I've learned now recently by commenting this on another video about Fargo (from various angry repliers) that his character on Fargo unfortunately wasn't actually Santa Claus 🤣He apparently was playing a different mythical legend called "The Wandering Jew." Still kinda cool though. Just not Santa...
In one of the behind the scenes with Madchen Amick she said they didn't actually use any film when they were filming the fake scenes. Didn't wanna waste the cash. I would love to see it too though.
The possession of this man was pretty much the reason I didn’t sleep well as a child. BOB was, if I remember correctly, only in the show for a combined total of a little over 6 mins, and even when “it is happening again” happened, and knowing that was the night of the reveal…. Still, to this day, that murder is right at the top of my list of scariest moments on tv for me. Rounding out the top 3 are two other sequences from the same season “Ronette’s Dream” and “The BOB couch crawl”… “Nightmare Fuel” is both the best description of the scenes and a true understatement. I’d say Maddie’s murder could only be overtaken by the couch crawl….Damn, I guess I didn’t need to sleep tonight 🤦🏻♂️. Thank you for the post, and be well everyone. I’ll see you in 25 years…
that show got me really emotional, well I don't think I ever cried but I mean I was really emotionally invested in a character or characters more than shows with 8 seasons...and the lead girl or focus of the show was dead the entire time, I mean it's a show where the entire series the character is dead yet her character develops the entire time and makes you emotionally attached, it's really something, I can understand why he got emotional, this can happen to anyone at any time, a life with such meaning and potential and influence just blinks out of existence, it happens every single day
@@isaiahromero9861 lookin at his performance, yes, I thought that he was having some bloodthirsty ecstasy while playing the role. When you unleash such feelings, you may get a berserk state. I don't mean that Ray is such a person, I mean that I'm surprised that it was unpleasant for him. I thought it was like unleashing the beast.
What Laura went through was far worse than just being murdered, it was downright demonic. I don't think anyone could feel entirely comfortable playing such a character.
@@strangefeeling8901 I just watched that part till the end rn. I just began watching twin peaks again lately after spending time watching all of lynch's other work (films)..I swear I remember Laura showing up in a very bright light. It's been a while since I watched S2 till the end, it might've actually been in FWWM The Missing Pieces or an uncut scene.. it's been a while.
Laura reaching her arms out sounds like direction Lynch gave Ray Wise. He does that a lot apparently: giving actors direction which is meant to enhance their understanding of the emotions in the scene rather than what the scene really is itself.
