The flute lady needs to be highlighted, she did a great job in the solo parts
@paulcosta8297

What evidence do you have that her performance was objectively superior to the other flutists? I allege that it is only because of your programmed subjective gynocentric, misandrist subconscious biases that you had the cognition which impelled your comment - also possibly due to a similarly biased, disproportionate emphasis to which she was given videographically. In reality she and all the other flutists (including MALE flutists) are abundantly talented, and we are without any objective evidence as to the comparative variations in talent among the present flutists in Frankfurt on 4/17/2016.

Maestro Orozco Estrada is , by far, my favorite conductor. I seek him out whenever I have a symphony I want to hear. I also really enjoy the Franfurt Symphony. What a pairing. I enjoyed their performance very much (although I though the singing was a little ragged at times/)

He is the most energetic of conductors. That often implies confusing. But in his case it is exactly the opposite. Every movement is crystal clear and in the spirit of supporting the music at that point. The result is the orchestra is also crystal clear. You get the feeling that the players like him and are fully engaged. The Mendelssohn 4th he did with this orchestra is like hearing it for the first time. Stunning. Note too that on the downbeats, his batton is going up! He is leading them forward and the players do that too.

47:36 For those who didn’t know, before Beethoven’s 9th 4th MVM there was NO singing voices in symphonies. Singing ONLY happened in Operas. People must have gotten the shock of their lives when singers stood up just like this and heard that booming voice for the very first time. And that that is another reason why Beethoven broke the mold in classical music.

This was an astoundingly joyous performance throughout. This conductor is an inspiration I think, just watching the way the orchestra members responded to his very clear direction was great. Was impressed to see the classical horns in use too. The choristers and soloists were spot on.

I would like to express my gratitude to, Ludvig van Beethoven for bringing this composition to this planet. I also would like to express my gratitude to the conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada for leading the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra in this performance as well as my gratitude to the musicians in the Orchestra, and of course the soloists. An amazing performance on every level. The fact that anyone with a decent internet connection and a pair of headphones can enjoy this piece of music uninterrupted is a gift.

A wonderful reading of this masterpiece, and a series of enlightening comments already amplify its qualities. I'd like to add this, as one blessed to live in a city where Andres Orozco-Estrada is music director: I know of no other great conductor with whom the gifted musicians demonstrate as much joy and enthusiasm as they labor together. His passion and skill and appreciation of music and musicians draw ensembles together, and every performance becomes itself an ode to Joy. Bravo and bravi, indeed.

Some personal comments: 1. The conductor is simply superb. He really feels, enjoys and lives through the music. He is very modest. Although he has spent hundreds of hours preparing the orchestra, aligning and coordinating the players, he avoids the applaud he deserves from the audience and he keeps applauding and thanking his orchestra players. Definition of modesty. He deserves the major part of the credit. 2. I do not understand the 4 singers soprano-thru-bass returning so many times for the applauding audience, taking all the credit for simply 4 minutes of singing each one, when the orchestra played for an hour and a half. It is not fair. The credit for the beautiful result belongs to the conductor and the orchestra players. 3. The soprano is a big negative. She was more screaming than singing, overshadowing all the rest. She is a typical opera singer, where loud voice is a plus. The quartet of singers in the 9th symphony of Oslo Philharmonic (conductor Klaus Makela) was a lot better. The singers play a major role in the overall enjoyment of the 9th Symphony.

I'm curious: whose decision was it to have the horn and trumpet parts played on 'natural' instruments? Presumably the rest of the orchestra plays 'modern' instruments, though the influence of historically-informed performance is noticeable throughout. Have you switched to 'natural' instruments entirely for Beethoven and earlier composers? Or only when you play under Orozco-Estrada's direction? How far, chronologically, do you take this? and on what grounds? I'm not critical of this decision -- in fact, I very much like the result; I'm just curious how it came about.

Congratulations maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada, and congratulations Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra for this wonderful cycle of Beethoven Symphonies that you made available on RU-vid. Bravo! All performances were of the highest level, but I would like to highlight the Symphonies of numbers 3, 7 and 9.

YMMV but Wagner's Ring is #1. By a big margin imo, but this is pretty good.

I agree, but I would say it’s tied for first with his own last piano Sonata and Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Mass in B minor and Michelangelo‘s David and Shakespeare’s great plays

People don't talk about this enough, the ending is actually the best part, a fast Coda, ending with just 5 short notes, end of story, no dragging, it's Beethoven's equivalent of a mic-drop, as if saying :"I've said all there is to say, this is it."
