This is an arrangement of Beethoven's "Für Elise" for pedal harp by Deborah Henson-Conant. Purchase & download the sheet music ( gum.co/FnLWu ) It's played on a CAMAC electric Blue harp.
This piece has sentimental value for me too; my grandfather was a wonderful classical pianist, and my father after him, then I followed (before eventually being discovered by the harp! It called o me). Whenever I hear this piece, it brings back to my childhood, waking up Sunday morning to this on the piano, with the potent aromas of pancakes and bacon on the griddle. Thank you. You inspire me.
Always like this piece, Love your sign. Now you don't have to die to hear decent Harp Music. I'm taking your Nightingale with me. Your always a pleasure to watch.
Exquisite, simply exquisite. My first wife used to play this on the piano, in spite of being born with a right arm that ended about an inch below the elbow. She could do the melody runs with that short arm, play the notes as quickly and clearly as you do on your harp, and run bass and harmony with the left. This superb rendition brings back so many memories. Such a beautiful piece, so exquisitely performed, As always.
If I turn off the volume and just watch you play, I would know exactly which song you're playing. You move like you're part of the song. I would never turn it down, though. You play my favorite song beautifully.
@@hipharpist it was a joy to meet you virtually speaking last night my time your more than welcome an evening i will remember for a very long time to come
@@hipharpist btw the young lady you mentioned who is also in south wales well as i said Shelly knows my brother she in fact played at my youngest sisters wedding and reception
Deborah can make almost anything, from Stolen Moments (all time favorite!) to the blues to Für Elise, sound like it was written for the harp! Wonderful!
Thank you, Deborah. I have the same memories of my Mother playing this on the piano while I sat with my eyes closed simply absorbing it. Like you, I've always enjoyed the ebbs and tides the arrangement takes. My favorite harpist playing my favorite song. You have made my day.
This piece has many angles. I am revisiting my childhood music as well. Um who were the 26 who did not like this piece??? I cant see why but there must be a solid reason. I like it but I am not a musician so I can't critique I only know my cats like the harp and get along better. I always liked this artist she has amazing fingers and mind body connection to her music. Thats what I "get" when I watch and listen to her play.
I have another recording of Fur Elise set to harp. It's such a short, beautiful classical piece and I have always loved it. Thank you for a lovely performance
Hey there. One of your Uplevel Gold pals here...and also a professional musician myself for many years! We met briefly in Atlanta. You are a rock star in every way...and I love this classical moment. The arrangement and hearing Fur Elise on the harp is total ear candy (expensive dark chocolate ear candy). Thank you for posting. Hope you make it to Asheville in Nov. You were missed last week!
I'm so glad you like it @DiverDave4!!! I remember hearing my mother play it and how much she LOVED having even just one piece she could really PLAY and express her 'pianist-self' with.
@@hipharpist I am a pianist as well so it was particularly enjoyable to listen to. My mother started me on piano as a child, it is a wonderful thing to share musicianship among family members. Our memories are only enhanced by the songs we shared with them. :)
Beautifully done! My first piece learned on the Piano (and the whole reason I learned) I got to teach myself how to read and took 3 months to learn that and Fur Elise, Now I have a few dozen pieces I can play and am of course still learning! having trouble with different beats for each hand but I think that is normal lolol! Keep up the wonderful music!
That's actually GREAT - that it only took you 3 months. And yes, coordinating our two hands with different beats is for sure one of the most challenging part of playing ... and I wonder what wonderful things it does to our brains to do that!
Why didn't Quentin cast you when he cast De Caprio to play calvin candy??? When Calvinh said " please stop playing Beethoven"You would rip her apart.! Ok it was Dr Shultz who said that.
It is a beautiful piece of music except when your lady friend has it as this tune on a clock at 5.30am then it wears thin except years now our security system plays this when you turn the system on oh memories thankyou Deborah it is a great instrumental was the instru meant to make you mental no
Ha, Merle! Sometimes I DO think the instu meant to make you mental! I know what you mean, though - - if only Beethoven could hear it on an alarm clock in synthesized sound - imagine what he'd think.
I'm sorry, but this was a bit painful to listen to. I cringed at a couple of parts that sounded.. I don't know, blah. Not sure if it's the harp or the technique. There is a version of Fur Elise on RU-vid by a Japanese harpist (Kaori something) that is much smoother.
