1994年。当時の黄金コンビ、ヴァント&北ドイツ放送交響楽団、本当に素晴らしいサウンドです♪ 2023年のNDRエルプ・フィルハーモニーより、ずっと良い音です♪ それにしてもヴァントは偉大な指揮者でした。

This is a very fine performance. If anyone hasn't heard the studio recording of NDR-Sinfonieorchester with Günter Wand released on RCA - it's an absolute must-have, it's one of those superb, eternal recordings. Beethoven 5th is quite compact work in its expressions and it's so nice to see in this video how the music is pushed forward when needed. It's on-point, agile, precise, I like to say - "German-sounding".

Full-blooded, vigorous, nuanced. Wand's Bruckner, Brahms and Beethoven are exemplary. In a word, the excitement of the tiny number of great masterpieces in Western music.

WOW!!!!! What an amazing performance by Gunther and the NDR! Focusing on the finale , I have Never heard it done so convincingly. The repeat of the exposition helps structurally and actually makes the movement seem shorter,in a good way. Gunther 's pacing is superb and the clarity of texture and incredible dynamic variation help to keep things varied and interesting . And all the while the maestro and the NDR maintain an epic intensity. As with several of the NDR Klassik's Wand/NDR/Bruckner videos I found myself saying "Yes!" repeatedly and my eyes brimming with tears. Thank you NDR Klassik!

Amazing, Mr. Wand left us a truly remarkable Beethoven cycle with NDR, I recently discovered it and as a young listener I was blown away by it.

Excellent! Wand with his orchestra.. And Beethoven's 5th sounds wonderful. I believe that these are the most "accurate", "sincere" and "realistic" versions, interpretations of this musical icon!

Astonishing! Wand's reading of this familiar symphony is so refreshing and full of energy. It is probably the top 2 performances of Beethoven's 5th along with Kleiber/WPO on DG.

Остается только один вопрос, сколько репетиций надо провести чтобы добиться такого четкого исполнения симфонии даже с такими высокопрофессиональными музыкантами ? Но результат превышает все ожидания. Безусловно это заслуга Гюнтера Ванда. И, конечно, его таланта. Он превосходен. Кажется , что за ним стоит Бетховен. Привет из Киева.

Thank you for your kind comment. Günter Wand was known for needing a relatively large number of rehearsal days. After months of meticulous score studies, which he considered indispensable, it was important to him to convey this knowledge to the orchestra during rehearsals. Accuracy and clarity, down to the last detail, were essential to him. He spent a lot of time on this, with the aim of bringing about performances that are coherent, that impress with the highest precision and inner tension. In the course of our 75th anniversary season we will publish further concert recordings and videos about Günter Wand. It's worth staying tuned!

Sorry, but this performance, apparently in an attempt to stamp this work with an unique interpretation, is ragged and inchoate. It lacks any coherent vision. In fact, it is one of the worst interpretations of this great, but oft over-loved and over-worked symphony I've ever heard. It skitters and slides around like an old man who has lost his balance on a large patch of ice. Mr Wand should stick with Bruckner and Brahms, to which his sensibilities are clearly much better suited. This is not Beethoven. Not even close.

@The Flying Brain Are your loudspeakers broken? Or do you have any problems with your ears?? - This is one of the best interpretations of this symphony! Everything is so clear, transparent and passionate. It's pure Beethoven! Thank you NDR Symphony Orchestra and Günter Wand for this extraordinary performace! Today there are so many interpretations of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony by much younger so-called "star" conductors that sound much more uninspired, dusty and antiquated than this one by an "old man".
