When Adam reads the name "Betelgeuse," It technically should still be pronounced as "Beetle-Juice," even when referring to the star. Adam is just bad at reading, or somewhat dyslexic. Remember, he read the word "Deceased" as "Diseased," so it's safe to assume he read "Betelgeuse" as "Betel - Guise."
Maybe he's not somewhat dyslexic but like some guys in the 80s. A little illiterate because we weren't chasing an education in highschool. We were chasing... well... you know.
My favorite bit in the movie (aside from The Banana Boat Song scene): Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Ah. Well...I attended Juilliard. I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through The Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen The Exorcist about *167 times, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!!!! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY!!!!* Now what d'ya think? Ya think I'm qualified?"
The Nightmare Before Christmas was my favorite childhood movie until I rewatched and understood Beetlejuice in adulthood. It's my mom's fault....she wouldn't let me watch it unless it was edited and playing on Disney Channel. 🤷♀️😂
Admit it or not…Keaton jump started the Batman franchise…when he holds the guy out over the ledge…feet dangling in the air…and pulls his face closer…and says…”I’M BATMAN’…that’s classic…Jack Nicholson…played it for, laughs…
I was 18 years old when this movie came out. I saw it in the theater in real time. It was an amazing experience. I still till this day remember the line from the oldest daughter...her mother used "Prince Valium" to get good nights sleep. That line stuck in my head decades later. Much luv for this movie.
I find its best not to say your wife or girlfriend cant cook, unless they're aware that they cant cook and wear it as a badge of honour, but when they're delusional like that don't say anything ! and no sudden movements 😉
It was fun to revisit the universe and I encourage anyone to see it if you like Beetlejuice. It's a fun movie and complainers are definitely the minority!
I love the Mrs. so ardently defending her cooking, lol. I have to say, as a genuine fan of the channel's content, I have seen your baking videos Mrs. Movies 😊 The recipes sound great though, and I'm sure you knock em out of the park! Just like you both did with this reaction to one of my all time fav movies. Awesome job guys!

Ohh and def Haunting of Hill House! I think it's one of the greatest horror Thriller paranormal whatever you want to categorize it show that has been made in a long time and it really hits home I think to a lot of people with the issues that they're dealing with. Any Mike Flanagan show
I've explained this in the comments of a few other channels, I only contribute this to the ones I like most. In the scene where Lydia unleashes Betelgeuse to help the Maitlands...there's a shot where he gets Otho, and changes his clothes to that polyester blue outfit. It's a funny joke on it's own, but if you notice there is a little jingle that comes with that scene...it's a Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Easter Egg. In Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (1985), there's a character named Francis, an overweight, man-child that is Pee-Wee's nemesis...in the film he's wearing that very blue polyester outfit. The actor who plays Otho looks quite a bit like the actor who played Francis...so much so, for the longest time I thought they were played by the same actor, I only recently discovered my error. Anyway...Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was Tim Burton's first feature film as director, Beetlejuice was his 2nd feature film.
As many times as I've seen this, I never noticed this before...the scene where the group is possessed and singing the Banana Boat Song (Day-O)...Winona Ryder is back in the corner, obviously her character isn't being possessed...she's in that corner laughing, I don't know if it's a "genuine I think this is crazy" laugh or if it was a scripted "Lydia laughs at ensemble doing the Day-O song"...but either way, never noticed it until today.
I have watched a number of reactions to this movie , I love other people's perspective . You are the first to get the polyester reference . Otho being such a hipster urban dweeby , the thought of him being trapped in a leisure suit would be terrifying . P. S. Mrs. YOU , ME , AND THE MOVIES , you should do a cooking show ❗
I love the comment Otho makes about people who "off themselves" becoming civil servants in the afterlife. It makes so much sense and adds details about the different people we see working there. The desk clerk mentioned her "little accident" when she showed her wrists, some of the others you can kinda guess like the roadkill guy probably stepped into oncoming traffic, Juno probably cut her own throat and the guy hanging from the noose swinging through the office is pretty self explanatory. Not many reactors pick up on that. Glad you guys did👍
I like your concept (watch people, who like movies and who also have something to say about them), but if you ask me you watch too much popular stuff and still miss many great movies, which might be interesting or even be fascinating for you. Is it really necessary to watch crap like Jaws from 2 to 5? Okaaaay ... A small list of reccomendations from me (if you already did a video about them, my mistake): - Priceless (from 2006) - Leolo (from 1992) - Ridicule (from 1996) - Ex Machina (from 2014) - Grave of the Fireflies (from 1988) - Paprika (from 2006) - Coma (from 1978) Maybe it's not possible for you to get an english version for all of this movies, I am not sure. But I can assure you that all of this movies are fascinating in their own way. And it is well worth a look. I discovered you via your “Full Metal Jacket” video, by the way, which I actually watched to the end. It's not that easy to cut crucial 40 minutes (or so) out of more than two hours. Well done. Apart of this: many good movie experiences.
I just played through Doom's first three episodes, then went through all of Doom II, then back to Doom I for Thy Flesh Consumed. I can tell you, it sucked to go back to Doom I and lack the super shotgun. That lone addition makes Doom II the better game imo. It's just so necessary to have that one level in between the shotgun and the rocket launcher damage-wise. Dealing with a barrage of Barons and Hell Knights without the super shotgun is pretty painful. Doom's first shareware episode is iconic, and the clear winner if that counts as a release here. But the rest of the campaign doesn't really hold up as well as Doom II's does as a whole.
The reason B.J. sits in the waiting room at the end must be because he was eaten by the sandworm, so he is dead (again). Which implies that the wedding to resurrect him was fulfilled, if just for one second. And that makes Lydia a widow… By the way, I liked when she threw the bouquet after him into the hole he dug himself, finished the funeral at the same time. That makes already some interesting premise for the sequel (which I haven't seen yet.)
Burton's best film arguably - perfect for SpookySeason. Keaton's first iconic role and it's a crackerjack turn (he won The NY Film Critics Award for Best Actor for this & also CLEAN AND SOBER - a drama you both need to see - as Mrs. so eloquently put it - 'you can do both!'). The sequel is on par with its equal.
Im going to say I think Mrs Movies would love Sleepy Hollow. Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Lydias dad makes an appearance in it too. Ive never not watched that movie if I came across it on TV.
Michael Kenton only appears in this movie for 17 minutes, he didn't want the movie just to center on him he thought it would ruin the movie. He only agreed to do part 2 with the same stipulation.
Me and one of my ex love this movie. We watched it together at her house on our first date. We are still cool and going to watch the second movie together. Have not seen her since 2009 lol.
Exactly like the star, that's why his name spelled the same as the star in that ad in the movie. That's how the writers wrote his name but when it came to using it as the title they changed the spelling to make it easier for people to pronounce it.
My wife loves this movie i hadn't seen it before until we hooked up but after i watched it for the first time i enjoyed it and yes I've seen the cartoon i saw it before the movie
Michael Keaton improved most of his dialogue. And when he swore, he was actually yelling at the set designer who made the tree. It was so dang funny that Burton left it in the film.
