That is insane how much that frees up. Thanks for sharing.

It's a bit misleading, I only realised after the video that I hadn't compressed the brake pads against the rotor completely. But it was still a great improvement to braking and feel.

Fully tighten brake screws only after you pump the brake hand handle a few times when putting it back as this will allow the brake holder to settle into correct position. Then grasp the brake hand handle firmly again and then you can do the last tightening of the brake screws.

Great video! Can you upload a video of how these sound on the street during normal use. I am debating whether or not to get full floating brake disc . Worried the noise would get annoying

FYI, the original rotors are floaters as well. There are inner and outer sections of the rotors that are joined together by “float buttons”. Just saying

You are correct, however, I changed the spring washers inside the buttons to flat washers in order to change them to a completely loose floater.

@@howtomoto do you race this bike on a track? Otherwise it's just a waste of time, money, and effort. Normal brake drag is literally 0.0% impact on a street bike. The only value full floats have is to improve cooling on high speed, heavy braking tracks. A well installed full float can reduce brake temps by 20 or so degrees when NOT braking, and thst can be meaningful when braking from 160 mph down to 40 mph entering a turn on a motogp course. Granted, it does look like an impressive gain on a video, but once the bike is running it's meaningless except for track. The main drag force is aerodynamic efficiency, and that drag doubles for every 10 mph increase in speed. Normal brake drag isn't even sufficient to keep the bike from rolling on the slightest slope.

if i had a stock rotor, can i install the floting button to make it 'full-floating' disc? i mean, by just doing that, i dont have to buy new set of rotor. im on Ninja250 now.
@howtomoto

Yes you can with a stock rotor. I used my stock rotor in this video. You just have to ensure the diameter and thickness of the buttons match with your rotor.

Wahh. That shud save lot of cost right. Will definitely buy a set of the button

This is because your brake pads are barely touching the rotor

Why is it titled before and after full floating rotors? They're both full floating rotors
@colito6399
@colito6399 3 месяца назад
wrong, the first is semi floating with wave washer installed and 2nd is full floating with washers removed
@BiffBallbag
@BiffBallbag 3 месяца назад
@@colito6399 Well, I stand corrected....but they're both still floating rotors.
@colito6399
@colito6399 3 месяца назад
@@BiffBallbag technically yes but one is more "floating" than the other. the ones with the washers removed literally rattles and shit while your riding
@BiffBallbag
@BiffBallbag 3 месяца назад
@@colito6399 It makes sense, you've increased the clearances. Unless you're drag racing where every ounce counts it's a waste of effort. I can't say in 30yrs of riding and working in the motorcycle industry that I've ever heard of a manufacturer promote or differentiate full, semi, or partial floating rotors, its either floating to not.
