Save a Forgotten Equine is a nonprofit horse rescue located in Redmond, WA. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and retrain horses facing neglect or abuse and provide them with the best opportunity for a permanent home and a lifetime of safety. Since 2005, Save a Forgotten Equine (SAFE) has been rescuing and rehabilitating horses that have been starved, neglected, abused or are unwanted. We have formal agreements in place with Animal Control agencies in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties to support their fight to protect horses in this region. SAFE also provides assistance to horse owners struggling to care for their animals in the current economy.

I love what you do for these horses. I adopted Marta 3 years ago. She turns 30 this year. Every year she gets sweeter and more cuddly. She leads the way out to the pasture in the morning and returns in time for her lunch of soaked pellets.

Amazing care from these wonderful people to care so much and give these beautiful horses a great chance in life. I’m in tears of sadness first and then more tears of joy at how these caring people changed these neglected animals back to the beautiful majestic animals they are. Well done you folk. I used to massage a lot of women who owned horses. I would always ask them "Did they become your Therapists because a psychic who talks to animals said that most horses can read people and know what troubles them ? They all laugh and say Yes they rescued me! Anyone can communicate with animals and its usually telepathic. You have to be still and quiet and look them in the eyes and talk to them silently. I've gotten pretty good at it over the years.

I REALLY didn't know just how Cruel some people can be. The before pictures were Just SO heart breaking I just cry. When I see the after pictures I am SO THANKFUL for people and organizations like you. I am so soft he as rated when an animal is abused. I am more for the animal they are innocent and have to suffer because of a human. Some humans are responsible enough to do the right things for their pets. Just saying.

It's a bit more work, but if you put some extra work in then the blm has a new program called the adoption incentive program where they basically pay you to adopt their mustangs. You only need one acre and it makes it a bit easier.

@@Piecemaker1623 I would highly recommend. My mom had an idea to get some acreage and build a bunch of little rental cabins so we can have a job there too. You can actually have the cabins shipped to you depending on where you get them. I would recommend doing some research on different vacation rentals, it would be really helpful nowadays with the whole pandemic thing because you wouldn't have to leave home as often. If you want to look at the website about the mustangs it's blm.gov under the programs tab.

I can't understand why people would be so cruel and do this not just to horses ...I don't like seeing any videos of amaceated animals .but I sure like when the make the recovery bit...I couldn't do this sort of work the ones tht can't be saved would break my heart

We work closely with our vets when re-feeding horses, but tend to start with small amounts of leafy alfalfa or a good quality senior feed and incrementally increase the amounts over a period of time to avoid re-feeding syndrome. It typically depends on the horse and their specific situation, so it is always good to have a vet involved when possible!
