Anybody else I would say you’re nuts to think you can bring this chateau back to it’s glory but after seeing what Dan has done with his farmhouse I have faith Dan can do it. Gonna take money and a lot of labor.
It's going to take a lot of time on his own, hopefully he can have helping hands on the way but that eats into the budget, which will also take a long time to finance. It may be 2 to 3 years for the outside (Of the Chateau itself, the grounds can be done at a date in the future) stuff and 2 to 3 years for the inside stuff, but age is on his side, and hopefully stamina!?!
I can't get enough of Nick, the Rock Star Tree Surgeon ! Real rock stars are such ninnies. Nick is the genuine article. Is he interested at all in his own YT channel? Oh, yeah, Dan, you're ok too.
I'm so excited to witness the development of this ambitious project. So much hard graft involved. But Dan , having seen the things you've tackled in the past couple of years, I'm sure you will achieve all you want to. Thanks for letting us be a part of it.😊
Dan you have everything going for you. You had a successful RU-vid channel “ before” you bought your chateau, you’ve worked at a chateau so you know what it takes to run one and you’ve taken a hovel and turned it into a functioning house. I’d say you’ve done your homework and except for the money aspect I’d say this is a piece of cake for you. Add to that you “need” a project like this. Just remember when you want to bang your head on a door that we out here all think you are amazing. 😊
Dan, I've been watching you since the very first day of your work with Stephanie at La Lande...I'm virtually bursting while waiting to see what's planned for your Chateau Restoration
When Nick did the trees at La Lande, the following year it was like the Forest woke up. There were blue bells and forest floor plants everywhere. It was magical. I am so excited to see what spring will bring to Chateau De Chaumont. 🧡
Nick is a gem and so interesting to watch at work. The chateau is already looking better and let's face it - it's the rare person who has to start a house restoration by clearing the trees INSIDE the building!
The progress is staggering. I look at the Chateau now and after being involved with many renovations ect, can see the solid bones clearly, It is on the verge of really starting to take shape. You are incredible Dan!
@@spiritofanu3112 I see what you mean Spirit, but i think he will try to keep the lot, the building ties are still in place I think? Its exciting thought isn't it.
Nick is a hero. Your drone footage and camera skills are so so good Dan, and the music is fab. Can't wait to see the work on the Chateau continue. Take some time to rest .x
Can you get Nick to talk about himself sometime. How did he get into the biz. Does he ever climb mountains with his gear and lack of fear. Enjoyed the before and after of the entrance today.
It good to be reminded of what the Chataeu looked before and now with Nick and yourself clearing some of the trees away it becomes a reality. It's like going from 'What were you thinking' to 'So glad you did' moment. You can do this Dan, maybe with a bit of help and advice from friends you will achieve your goal. 💕🇦🇺
I simply can not imagine what future effort you're going to have to put into this project. you ARE building a whole new Chateau as all that remains are the exterior walls. What is your budget for this project ? Hundreds of thousands are needed
Your level of enthusiasm is very encouraging. Good job! Hope you know EVERYONE is rooting for you. Do another after video when everything is green again. It's a bit hard to see it with the seasonal difference. If Nick is getting what he's worth, it must be the majority of your budget so far. Those terracotta bits on top of the one chimney are lovely. You should take them down for safe asap.
Outstanding video Dan glad you have Nicks help as you have come on leap and bounds , just hope someone has a caravan to give to you to help with saving costs with lodgings and look forward to see renovations with the chateaux. 🙏🙋♀️🇬🇧👏👍please like and share and help Dan out .
I’m one who likes the, hidden in the forest, aspect but I notice all the château owners cut all the trees down, or back, so the château can be seen from the street. I love the forest, and the trees, and the privacy. Nick is amazing at his craft! It’s really fun seeing the trees removed from the inside of the château!
I also love most the building surrounded by trees … I love trees so I might be biased but I believe it gives an enchanting quality to the building… but I know having trees around the building require also extra maintenance and some people don’t want the extra work on the top of the issues they deal with old buildings in a regular basis
Old trees, especially that type of conifer crack and lose limbs in minor weathers let alone inclement snow. In turn this causes a lot of damage. Trees should never be higher than what they shelter of closer than the distance they would cover if they fell.
The drive is beautiful. Nick is part tree. He is unbelievable with his attention to detail and ability to handle them. Yes, yes I can't wait for you to be able to start on the beautiful old girl.
Dan and Nick….what a combo…and especially for those two adorable little boys of yours to have such incredible role models of bringing life back to this abandoned chateau….and life meaning back to the masculine!
Thanks for adding the additional footage. And what wonderful footage it is. Just think of what we would have missed if all the photography was taken at ground level!
I still believe that she's still a big part of his life. I remember in the Marie Wiilke interview with her she said he was the love of her life. We'll see what happens, maybe the chateau won't be the only thing that gets a ressurection, a re do?
Now the chateau looks like a proper construction site, with just the walls in place waiting to start the reconstruction of the interior floors and partitions. However, I know it has been weeks and weeks of hard work by you and Nick to get it to this point. Once the warm weather rolls around I'm sure we'll see lots of progress in hopes that when winter rolls back you'll be just about wind and watertight and able to start planning the heating system for the chateau. You have a great team working with you and many hands to call on to help you move forward with the project. I'm certainly looking forward to following your vlog as I have done from he beginning. Mark
@Kylie Holman I'm really doubting myself at the moment, but.... I thought I heard Dan say that he had a roof kit or something to that nature, I had in mind that he'd be able to sit it on with some BIG equipment?? I'm really in doubt now!!🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️🤣🤣
Dan you are an inspiration to everyone, for the challenges you set for yourself. A family man! That loves his boys, and it shows in their jolly selves as they are always happy to see daddy's achievements and want to muck in... Great work, but please take some time for yourself before you wear yourself out....💛
Most people barbeque on the week end and have only the next barbeque to look forward too!! You Dan are on a journey of a lifetime!! What a legacy to leave behind. You sir are NOT BORING!! So Crack On some will take this journey with some wont, the ones that stay behind will dream about their uninteresting barbeques, thanks for the Journey!!
I was late tuning in and wow, already 11k views in an hour! 👀 Lots of us "Dan Fans" in the world. Thanks for the video, and 3 cheers for Nick!!! 🙂🙃🙂 Your boys are looking great, like their Dad. So...I'll try to be on time to see ya...tomorrow ❤
So many things on the go,,farm, boys, chateau, car, temp accommodation, visiting Lalande. Your days must be 28 hours long. Hope you look after yourself a bit in the midst of it. None of your plans can move ahead if you get sick, or if you injure yourself. Please take care of #1 first, then the rest🥰🤗
Dan I can still remember what a brilliant difference you made to Lalande gardens in two days, so I have more than confident of your ability to turn this Chateau into something beautiful again. 👍👌🥰🙏🏻
Really nice to see improvements on the outside of the chateau, cottage, stone farm house... like the shutters, drains, pumps, cleared paths, walking paths, trimmed trees, rose gardens... or outside patios, terrace... and croquet field, pool, garden sheds, Side buildings, barns...
Amazing job there - The Rock Star Tree Surgeon, this guy is just unreal talented in what he does and the skills he demonstrate !!!! Dan, this video is so, so GOOD. It will be the project of your life, Dan, and you can do it and you will succeed ! Lots of work for sure, lots of excitement from us, who witness and support you - in the meantime, please take care, Dan. A wonderful week-end to you. - Rosalind -
Where there is a will , there will be a way ! You can do this Dan , I have no doubt ! Super excited to follow you and see your Château involve in to a beautiful cozier functional money-making home ! 👍
Nick is amazing! And Dan, you're the "Man". Those little ones, they'll steal your heart! Will you be building scaffolding on the outside of the chateau to begin your work? I know how much you love scaffolding.
WOW! AMAZING Undertaking! Overwhelming in fact! Cannot even imagine! Absolutely Fascinating! Bravo & the Very Best Wished for You & Yours! God Bless & Much Happiness! Hugs & Admiration from New Jersey, USA ❤️🤗🙏🇺🇸
Mate, if I may be so bould! Great job on the access. I believe there's one more job to do. I've noticed from the drone shots that the gates don't open fully and could pose a problem for trucks and machinery. The right hand one needs more attention as it looks like the pillars aren't perpendicular to the road. Good on you for taking on this challenge, I applaud you and your endeavours. Cheers Hugh from Western Australia
Love seeing the before and after even though I've been watching all your videos. Just can't wait to continue to enjoy the progress you make restoring this stunning chateau! And it's so impressive to watch Nick work! He's amazing. I notice his suspenders say "Oregon" on them..... I live in Oregon and have lots of logger friends. Nick would fit right in around here :)
Those aerial shots are stunning. Tree clearing made a vast difference to the view of the chateau. It’s mind boggling how far you’ve come with the chateau. So glad you posted this.
Dan, you and Nick are a complimentary team. I'm happy to see video appreciate his talents. T. Y. He's a good friend to have. Wish I could climb trees like he does. I've had tree service here 3 xs. It was expensive. I think its a gift to do what he does. Chateau looks so different in a short time. Exciting.
Dan, thanks for the retrospective on the Chateau and for showing Nick's work. Looking forward to enjoying your artistry as you move this project forward.
Dan, I just watched EP018 from 2 years ago when you first visited the Château. Don't think I'd watched it before and it popped up as a suggestion. Lots of progress indeed! It's going to be a fascinating restoration.
Wow what a difference Nick is one heck of a tree surgeon he certainly works wonders, well done on all the work you both have done so far,Dan your two boys are soo cute X 💕🌼🤗
Man Dan your boys are growing so fast and talking so well. Those boys have very good manners thanks to their mom and Daniel. Can't wait for you to finish farmhouse and work on Cheatue. Have a great weekend Dan.
It's great to see someone doing something completely different. I mean there are chateue renos then there is this. A roofless chateau that to so many of us is past fixing. This is epic, I wish a tv network would pick this up. A newly single dad re building, re discovering the chateau and himself, this is truly going to be one of the best shows RU-vid has ever had. Congrats and good luck!
I never understood the important of "kerb appeal" as much as I have after watching your before and after. Nick has helped you give the impression that your chateau is cared for after years of neglect. Most noticeable with the tree(s) gone from the interior and what now seems more like parc land surrrounding the property. And your boys are so Franglais now! Cheers Nick! Cheers Dan!
