#thelifeandsadending #sictom #comedy A bref mini bio about the life and career of actor Ted Knight. He was famous for playing the part of Ted Baxter on 'The Mary tyler Moore Show'.
Ted Knight was awesome, and friggin hilarious. I loved "Too Close For Comfort." I laughed every time he said 'Monroe.' 😂 There was just something I found funny about the way he said it. I was just old enough, about 9, to remember when he sadly passed away and being bummed out about it. May he continue to rest in peace. 🙏
Thanks Steve. I always loved Chevy Chase's line in Caddyshack when the judge suggests they play a round, and says he's no slouch. "Don't sell yourself short, judge, you're an incredible slouch!" Too bad Ted wasn't with us longer, he was priceless.
Live about 3 miles from the picture you posted Terryville, Ted was a good guy, his comedy was 1st rate Between MTM & Caddie Shack. Those are my favorite,
Wow, Ted was a busy man for most of his career. If memory serves Vince Lombardi also died of colon cancer, he refused to get screened for colon cancer.
Ted was guest on an episode of the Mike Douglas talk show the same day as Moe Howard of the Three stooges. You could see Ted was thrilled to be there with Moe.
@@TheLifeandSadEnding I remember seeing clips of that show, Moe was showing how to properly throw pies 🥧 and nailed Mike Douglas. Thanks for the memories
Ted Knight was one of the greatest comedic actors of my lifetime (67 years). But i love that I'm still able to enjoy him on Mary Tyler Moore, which is available on RU-vid free of charge!
He was hilarious in Caddyshack. I remember our local news talking about his college sweatshirts, one of which was from Slippery Rock State College. That's very near where I sit. It's now Slippery Rock University.
It was so cool the actors of the 70’s and 80’s could guest star on so many various shows and sitcoms, you just don’t see that anymore. He like so many other actors of his era looked much older than his actual age and died so young. Thanks again for your content Steve!
Always liked Ted in the shows of the 70's, especially The Mary Tyler show - his clueless character was so believable and so funny. With his grey slicked back hair...I thought he was so much older. He seemed like a really good guy.
This is so brilliant. We all loved him on the Mary Tyler Moore show, that we watched as a family. I always wondered about his life. Thanking You greatly.
Loved Mr. Knight in MTMS, Caddyshack, TCFC, and I even saw him in that episode of Highway Patrol, he was just such an amazing actor. Sorry that he died so young and as he did 😿
His character on MTM...remarkable..hilarious..and completely created...one line I always remember..referring to other students during his school days...'those brainy..straight C students'...classic
Ted knight starred in the movie caddyshack as Judge smails at the box office he starred in Two TV shows the mary Tyler Moore show and too close for comfort
Ted Knight was great. A sad ending indeed. I have the ol’ cave of wonders spelunked as often as my doctor prescribes. I ran into my proctologist at Home Depot last year. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t recognize me. I told him it was okay…probably goes with the profession.
I loved his work, though I don't wasn't aware of man of his lessor known roles. My mom was a huge fan of his. She was having lower gastric pain. Ted's colon cancer diagnosis prompted my mom to ask her doctor about a colonoscopy. One was performed on her, and cancer was diagnosed. If only she had done the test sooner. My mom died from the disease shortly thereafter. Ted might be responsible for making people aware some years in the future. Ted was a great individual Thanks for this video
Sometimes an episode of a comedy show comes out, and it's so extremely funny that I remember it decades later. The episode of the MTM show that did that for me was the one where Ted started "Ted Baxter's famous broadcasting school, and he only had one student. The part where they were to 'break up into smaller groups" really cracked me up.
My late uncle,Raymond Masse, served with Ted,in Europe In the engineering division, and In the late 70s they had a reunion of the company at a restaurant in Seekonk Massachusetts,my uncle said Ted was much like Ted Baxter in real life, but was a nice guy.
As much as I dread them, I have had 2 colonoscopies. The 2nd was because I had a positive Cologuard test that turned out to be just from hemorrhoids...Being that Cologuard can produce false negatives and false positives, in retrospect, I would now just skip that test and just go get a colonoscopy.
He toiled for years until the MTM show. If Jack Cassidy hadn't turned down the part he may have died in anonymity. Still he hated being regarded as the shows schmuck and seriously considered quitting. 2 Emmys later I'm sure he was happy he stayed. He really was a brilliant talent who left the world to soon...
Just found your Chanel. I subscribed. I remember Ted Night mostly for the tv show two close for comfort . What a great show. Truly loved it and believe it was made for him because he was the leading actor..Rest in peace .
this was another interesting peek into the life of a noteworthy person. I didnt watch MTM or TCFC, BUT my biggest memory of Ted is as narrator of Superfriends and I didn't know it as a kid but he voiced Black Manta as well.
He was one of the very few comedy actors who could be so pretentious, over-act and still be extremely funny. His Ted Baxter parts were short gags taking his vanity and insecurity to more absurdity. It never got old.
I had a colonoscopy a couple years ago. Got to do it again in a few months. All is good clean bill of health. But I must say it’s a real pain in the ass.
The Ironic part of this is that I probably watched all those programs he was in and don't remember him.And the only thing I remember him in was the mary tyler more show
Ted Knight voiced Professor Oliver Lindenbrook on the cartoon "Journey to the Center of the Earth." As well as Commander Kidd on the cartoon series, "Fantastic Voyage." That's when cartoons were good.
Ted Knight was brilliant playing the role of the egotistical, self-centered news anchorman Ted Baxter. I believe the 2004 movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was loosely based on Ted Baxter.
