Before you buy a new or used Ford Focus ST, you'll need to know a few of the mistakes that I've made when I got my Focus. There's a lot that can just slip right past you that the dealership won't tell you.

That green tube coming from the symposer delete plate is a "true vacuum" line. Also used modded ST are usually parted out before sale, the stuff still there didn't sell in time or they didn't keep the stock parts around, or just didn't have the time to delete.. Know that an intake, exhaust, and intercooler means it was most likely ran harder than a stock focus st. These aren't race cars, they are sporty hatchbacks but younger people think its a race car and treat it like one after modding. Use caution but be excited because a good one is amazing, a beat up one will cost more down the line.

I'm currently looking for one because my friend is part of a group so they do a lot of stuff with them and I love this car. Cheaper to maintain and fix than a sti or GTI. But most things I'm finding in used St is lots have bad 2nd gear and 4th gear bad synchros and worn clutch. Not really hard to change but definitely tells you how bad they ran that car

I’m still trying to find a good deal on a focus st :( these prices are ridiculous though I might go after a 2013 with 12k miles on it from carmax! $21k though

Honestly, I don’t think prices will go down any time soon, if anything they’ll just keep going up! That’s a steep price but it might just seem like it because of the market. I got mine for $18k with 28k miles so that’s not too bad

Part of the video is more of a "how to see if the ST is modded" video. It is a very good video, but some things are missing from my point of view. Try checking for maintenance records, signs of accident damage, that sort of stuff. When buying private, try get an idea on what sort of person is the owner (is this an enthousiast or...., do you want to buy a car from him/her). Maybe you left this out of the video because it should be normal. Small remark on the sound symposer; EU manufactured ST's after a specific date didn't come with a sound symposer. (factory fitted block off plate)

For sure! Yeah I was definitely making it more geared towards the Focus ST specifically. With my experience with my car I would’ve liked to know how much it was modified because a lot of the parts that are modified were unreliable. Everything else is just what you would do with a normal car.
