I imagine that scene in the Matrix with all the weapon racks when NL says he needs weapons. Except they're all lined with drones armed to the teeth and NL is just like "I'll pass" And Morpheus is like "You sure? These are state of the art and can tear an enemy ship apart. Or maybe these automated defense drones are more your speed." Cut to NL walking off and then being spaced as his ship breaks apart.

The fire beam effects individual squares instead of rooms, i.e you can start 4 fires in a 2x2 room and hitting an already lit square does nothing

Man this soundtrack really hits me. I played this game so much when it first came out, I had just moved to a new area and didn’t know anyone so many days and nights were spent playing pc games and ftl was one of my favorites. That’s how I found NL too! First NL video I ever watched was a play through of Banished, which I still haven’t figured out how to play lol. Still come back to your videos man, always enjoyable.

I always debated whether FTL would be better or worse if every shop you visited sold weapons, drones, upgrades and crew. Some runs you feel like you lost simply because every shop you visited had no weapons and you sat on like 1000 scrap.

I got no idea about this game but the fire laser just seems pretty shit to me. Idk how worth it is to be able to cause fires unreliably.

The Fire Beam is incredible, with the right setup. Beams can't go through shields, so to use it effectively, you need a secondary weapon that takes down shields effectively (like flak or ion), and time your fire beam to shoot the moment the shields are down. Every square of ship the beam touches sets a fire, and it does damage to crew it passes over as well. Crew prioritizes putting out fires over repairing systems, so it's not only effective at damaging and killing crew, but also at delaying system repairs, and when you can kill the crew without destroying the ship, your rewards are way higher.

You weren't cornered into getting the fire beam. You picked the worst of the 3 weapons for sale. I would have kept the Artemis and bought the ion weapon. Ion weapons are cheap and very helpful in shield damage. Sometimes the Artemis is a necessary mid to late game weapon. Alternatively, you had a few opportunities to spec into drones.

Wow. Went back and watched your original FTL videos. It sounds like someone doing a bad NL impersonation. Content and quality wise it's not bad, and even 10 year old NL is more enjoyable than 99% of over-reacty scream streamers. However, I prefer your more mellow attitude and tone now for sure! I do believe you've probably worked to have a solid stream-sona, and that work is appreciated.

2:50 Is he making a mistake saving the missiles? On the last runs, he always lost due to hull damage. And he always had an overflow on missiles. So shouldn´t he just spend a missile to prevent hull damage from solar flairs?

Killing them by lack of oxygen is tough without a burst hull or fires. Stun too maybe. In general not great with lasers that fire too many shots to lower shields

You might want to consider not rushing to the exit beacon and going towards the beacons that are a little bit behind you, but still ahead of the rebel fleet. More beacons = More scrap = Better run.
