Vape? I came here because I want to build a coil for a simple electric motor to use in a kids project. But your info helped me a bit anyway, thanks :).
THANK YOU! This exactly the video I couldn't find when I started building coils in 2015. Even at the vape shop I couldn't get this information. Most of what I've learned has been through trial and error, so this is still helpful for me 8 years later. Back then, I used a tiny screw driver, eyebrow tweezers and cutical nippers. I have better stuff now, but I still prefer some of my re-purposed make-up tools and a safety pin. An eye brow comb is great to fluff the wick and a mascara brush to help clean up inside and between coils and crevices on my RDA's. The safety pin works best for me to tuck just enough cotton into the reservoir and keep it in place while putting the chimney on the deck. By the way, an old pair of hair shears is IDEAL for trimming cotton! You just got a new subscriber here. Now I'm over to check out your other videos! Thanks again!
So glad you are doing this series. I'm really interested in learning all I can about building before I start. I'm one of those ppl that does stupid amounts of research before getting into something. Takes a lot of time to learn but its worth it for me to know what im doing. Thanks man!
hilliday22 Me too man! This series is very important to me so I want to do what I can to get it right and provide as much information as I needed when I started
hilliday22 exactly. i feel its completely necessary to find out exactly everythin i needa know about watever it is before buying it cuz i aint gunna end up findin out i waisted my money cuz i don't have sumn else i need to be able to complete the task cuz that would piss me off and i jus like to research shit i'm insterested about. but when i read ur comment i was like FOREAL THIS MUST BE MY CLONE OR SUMN cuz i be the same exact way i'll do stupid ass research for hours even tho i already found out wat i wanted to know but i jus still wanna know more lol
The 2 pictures of the kid in the slide/tube was hysterical, and informative. Subtle comedic genius. Lol thanks, I've watched many vids but none clicked with me like yours did.
Awesome video series. I started with sub ohm tanks.....heard off everyone go rda as much more flavour.....so me being new and scared of rebuilding as had no idea went with a profile rda...mesh..no option to make a mistake...."?love it and now looking into buying a drop solo, and I love working with my hands...keeps me occupied and not thinking of cigarettes....cheers for making this how to series for newbies! We’ve all got to learn somehow.
With wraps raising resistance, it’s actually mostly a product of inductance. Inductance occurs when a coiled wire conducts a current, a magnetic field is generated. This is also the origin of why coil provides heat, due to the increased resistance by the generation of the magnetic field. This is the primary reason why more wraps provides more ohms, the actual length of the wire itself is negligible in comparison. Inductance is measured in Henry’s however this is only relative information needed in circuits using alternating current. Since another factor called inductive reactance exists where the actual voltage sine waveform leads the actual current itself, by 90 degrees. Inductance is the basis of electric motors, heater coils, magneto, transformers, alternators, generators… the principle of inductance is a very substantial slice of the modern technology pie, and they are found basically everywhere.
Great video for beginners like myself. I am just starting to make my own coils on my RDA and you did a great job of explaining everything I needed to know to get started. Thank you. I will be using some of the links in your description as well. Thanks again for the video.
Great tutorial! I just picked up a Dead Rabbit 24mm for my AL85. I am finding out it’s not the best mod, but DNAVapor said it will work just fine for now. I like to vape around 35 watts as I make my own CBD liquids. I was told RDAs would waste less of my CBD because of the direct vapor rather than padding through the wick firsts. I was looking to get better flavor also than a tank does. I also have a Vaporesso swag. I picked up a Coil Master V3, and I’m going to start with a simple coil with 24g, 3mm, with 7 wraps. Any suggestions would be awesome. My kit gets here Friday
just built my first twisted fused clapton last night using SS wire bout 36G which is pretty thin but I was able to get about 0.3 ohm on a single coil build. gonna try and build some more complex and unique coils in the future
It may just be the first episode but I already learned a lot about being safe. I also understand more about matching the resistance with the coil thickness... which is crucially important, especially for noobies like me. I'll surely watch your next videos one by one. In what episode did you mention about the safest batteries to use according to the desired resistance? If there is none yet, please do a topic about safe battery usage.
HELLO I've been vaping for about 4 to 5 years just found your Channel really like what your doing wish I had found you back when I started will be sharing your Channel with all newbie Vapors I know that want to join us in this Great Vaping Nation Thank you
Keng69 Just started vaping and I’m already hooked on another expensive hobby 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I want to start building my own coils where do I start ? I have a sub ohm mod, smok mag. I am familiar with ohms law my big question is how do you determine how many raps to make the coil ? Help ! Thanks in advance. Ken
Diameter: Larger diameter = higher resistance Coil: More wrap = higher resistance Gauge: Bigger gauge = higher resistance The more material electricity has to travel through, the more resistance it will have. Types of wire Nichrome: Gets hot faster, preferred by cloud chaser Kanthal: Heats slower than Nichrome, last longer
When I was winding my alien v2 on a 4mm even though I did it tight when I was done and let go it opens up a little bigger so instead of the inner diameter being 4mm it's probably like 4.5. So i then tried a 3.5mm and it worked out pretty close to being 4mm inner diameter when it was done . I have flat tri core ss316L clapton spool that i think will hold its true diameter. The alien v2 is a big wire. 6 wraps ohmed out to 0.38 in single coil mode .
I just built my first coil. I did about 8 wraps on 26 gauge, 2.0 diameter, kanthal wire on wattage mode. I'm pushing about .485 ohms. Vape at about 55w. I think everything's good, alien 220w mod btw. I'm questioning myself am I at a safe spot?
Adjective .4 seems on a regulated mod. If you see this reply lol, Id say Go higher diameter and same wraps, Better flavour and resistance imo. I do 10 wraps 3.5 diameter and get .3 ohms on a snowwolf 360 mini 220W
Joven Vallega , youre pretty much safe with any build on a regulated mod, if it comes out too low, device will prompt you, You should go to a shop anyways and ask people over there, Fused claptons dont sound to newbiew bro haha, I only do regular kanthal builds
dunno if you'll read this, but I've jist started vaping and all the video editing you do - while smooth and well done, not really complaining - it makes it too fast and hard to retain info. Thank you for the video, that was simply constructive. Loads of great info in here.
Well, the coil material is not only about preference but mostly about how you will use it. If you use Kanthal for example, you can only use Watts mode and if you use titanium you can only use it in TC. BTW Ti oxide is pretty harmful, so be careful about the coil temperature.
You say in your video that you have links to what it takes to start making coils yourself, but I can not see them in the comment or in the overview. Is there another way to get these links?
love the vid man you explain it so much better and in more detail then other channels i just found your channel like 15 min ago and I am liking the vids keep up the good work man
Great video. One suggestion. Harbor freight has a hobby vise for 14$ or so. Works great on the swivel end. Has a suction cup bottom to put it on a tabletop.
Hey sherlock, I'm trying to locate the link you said you would provide for the multi pack starter wire spools, please can you kindly point me in the right direction ?
interesting the most useful tool I have is the stepped build rod I wrap coils on it tuck coton and knock stubborn bits of burnt shmoo off coils when cleaning them and tiney stainless steel brush is great and jentil to clean coils
I got a rda coil included in my Smok tfv8 cloud beast, can I use any wire and cotton? I having trouble finding a lot of coils and materials specifically for the tfv8 cloud beast?
I'm the same way I only like to use kanthal and Nichrome. I feel I get the best flavor from kanthal over stainless steel and Nichrome even though recently I have been making kanthal cores with nichrome wrapped fused claptons and they have been really good flavor as well.
I see a lot of people making this mistake. Lower ohms doesn't necessarily mean faster ramp up time or higher temperatures. Thinner wire will heat up much much faster than thicker wire. A greater mass of wire, whether due to thickness or length will take more energy to reach the same temperature. Having bigger, thicker wire can be good because it has more surface area coming in contact with the juice so will create more vapor at the same temperature. But it will take more power (watts) to reach the same temperature in the same amount of time. This is why complex coils are so good, because they have extra surface area without increasing the mass of the wire by as much as using a super thick wire.
Good video. But the electricity actually travels across the surface of the wire not through it. So the bigger diameter wire more electrons can flow across the surface.
Awesome man, Im glad it helped! I actually filmed a ton last night and sat down this morning to edit and realized i forgot to turn on my mic. So all of it had 0 sound haha. I'll get them done asap though. Thanks for watching!
Can any one please suggest me which wire to used for Smok stick x8 baby beast tank tfv8 having Q2and M2 coil i want to know which wire i use for Q2 preinstalled stock can i change the wire or else i have to buy new coil....and if any wire is there how much gauge and resistance required for wire and i am using preinstalled battery having 3000 mh
Already learned a lot even if I just watched the first episode. Learned how to match the resistance with coil diameter. Please make a video about safe battery usage and types of battery to be used for the desired coil build whether for single or dual coil.
So my Agius boost has RBA section takes p30 Clapton..can I buy 30 gauge wire and build my own? Its coming in mail n comes with 2. Like a .6 and not sure the other or why..ones for salt lower watts? Other for reg EJUICE .4 maybe..then there's .15 etc which I think are for lower watts I've seen with PNP coils from Voopoo kits. They have alot
I just want to build MTL coils, I am learning but want to experiment making the most battery sipping build 12 watts and even lower! A 5 watt coil maybe? 5 days battery life on my Paranormal DNA250C 😀😀
Great video! I learned so much just from this one video! I look forward to watching all the rest! you explained everything so well! Thankx! :) I will be using this video as a reference, when I need to go back and refresh my memory on anything.
100$ says you got the angled pliers with the orange handle from harbor freight. I have the same ones. Their flush cuts are garbage tho, but luckily they have a lifetime warranty for them. But I got some off amazon that are amazing.
Okay, I'm just getting into building coils; I've been vaping for a couple of years now, and want to start building them to save a bit over buying packs of premade coils. So, say that I want to do a dual Clapton setup that comes out to ~0.15Ω. What would you suggest for the diameter and # of wraps?
I have a few questions that I cannot find on the internet if someone on here is willing to answer for me. 1 I’ve been looking into fused Clapton wire, but I came across one that said tri core and one that said quad core. What’s the difference between the 2? Is one better than the other? Question 2. What’s the difference between something like 5 wraps and 8 wraps? Question 3 what about spacing my coils? What’s the difference between a tight coil and a spaced coil?
Thanks so much for the info! Question....I have the ijoy maxo V12 tank with the V12 RT6 triple coil deck.......how do I know what size coil I can use that will fit? 2mm, 2.5mm or 3mm.....i don't know and I've only used prebuilt coils but would like to start making my own and start experimenting with bigger exotic coils if I can....but I don't know if bigger coils will touch the walls of the top that goes on top of the deck....please and thank you!
I want to build coils with a resistance of .8 or .9 ...it is for a Saga series mechanical mod (7.4 volts) with a Asgard dual coil RDA. So i will end up with .4 resistance. Can you give me tips for which wire i best use ? Gage, material, wraps ?
I watch the whole video. And I have no idea what a coil is used for. I stopped on your RU-vid video to learn how to refill my juul vape pod . FYI that work great thanks. So I stopped by your channel and I have no idea what coil is
hi there bud im doing a sears build i got a saga mech 21700 sears mod now building ? ni90 26g x2 or x3 iner core and 36g ni80 outer rap i want to do a Clapton build how meny raps on a 3m bit or do i use a 3.5m bit ?
hey,i start vapeing as a hubby and replace for ciggs about 1.5 months and i love iti start with a stick vpae and after 1 month i pass to a revenger mod kit and it began even better and now i wanna to start building rda n stuff and pass to mech mod,now your video help me alot tho iam an engineer student u remind me few stuff that i forget so ty,my Q is dose u need a specific coils for rda or its multi coil thing and it depend on the amont of heat and etc.. i want ? and shuld i save money for huge kits or use homemad chip tools.
I have a mini pico 75w from eleaf, is Ss Fused Clapton Wire fits in re-building my coil? I need u your opinion on this..what gauge and target ohms even loops in re coil.. Thank you
what if you use dual coil does this mean you put more resistance? so if you use single coil 0.15ohm.. and the dual coil will become 0.3ohm is that right?
My only worry is that I would put in the initial investment and then find that I don’t understand what I’m doing. Building looks so fun though. Great video, I subscribed to your channel.
Great video, thanks I want to make an electromagnet using a core of diameter 9cm and height 30cm,what should be the thickness of wire I should use? (I want it to have a lifting capacity of about 60kg)
Hey im new to building coils and such after using a tank for the longest time, and all this is coil RDA things are new to me aha but i've been wondering if I were able to use just steel instead of stainless steel? would that be okay? would there be a problem if i used just steel to build? i cant find anything online been looking for the longest time and i just want to know if its safe....
for good sciscors take a look at whats on offer at the sewing store I got some cheap but sharp little spring loaded sewing scissors they sorta look like sheep shears and they work great but once you get them DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING BUT WICKS don't cut paper with them don't cut packaging open with them don't use them to open your latest rda;s celephane wrapper ONLY COTTON the second they touch paper they dull fast
I’ve been vaping for years but now I want to build coils. Thinking about buying this tank AUGVAPE X MIKE VAPES INTAKE 24MM RTA,what do you think? Or do you have a different suggestion? I don’t like buying Junk! I’d rather buy a good tank then buy 3 then the a good tank.
I came back to see what drills you recommend since I need one since the one I have now is battery driven and only spins at maximum 950 RPM. Your "drill" link just shows a search result in E-bay for drills.
I hope you can help me because I really need help Iam trying to make dual coil with 24g NiChrome that I can use in low watt about 45w but don’t really know the inside diameter or how many wraps I need sorry I got super confuse in the video please help me
so the smaller the inner diameter and fewer wraps will give more flavor? so less ohm = more flavor and thus dual Clapton is better in a dual coil build, right?
i bought geekvape SS Fused Clapton Wire (24GAx2+32GA), but dont know what to vape it at or what temperature, planning on 6 wraps with a inner diameter of 3mm, need help please
ok now i have a question if more travel of electricity means more resistance and less wire means less resistance and 2 reps will get hot faster thn the 6 reps thy why low resistance means that two reps coil need more electricity than the higher resistance coil like 5-6 reps?
Love your videos, you have the best videos I've seen. So informative!! I'm a beginner and when making claptons I seem to have a problem with wire snapping and breaking while in chuck. Then I have to stop re insert it into the chuck. And it's really annoying. How do I get it to not snap and break? What am I doing wrong? HELP SherlockHohms!!🤔🤔🤔
