Great video and that's a sweet looking tank! Just few questions on dry start: How long does the light supposed to be on? How often should I spray water into it? I'll also vote for black background, promotes contrast in color. Makes the plants and livestock more vibrant

Thank you! I had the light on for 8hr/day. And was spraying it every 2 days :)

I need to do this and step out of my comfort zone for once. I always thought this style of aqua scape required co2, but you did it without and it looks beautiful. As always your videos are informative, inspiring and well done. Already looking forward to the next one.

Good day! Thank you for the wonderful video showcasing such a beautiful tank. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me, as I have no experience in this hobby (but planning to get into it when I have space!) 1. I noticed that there are no filters used for your tank. Can you explain why? And do you think it is okay to add one, if I want to? 2. While you said that the algae on the rocks are fine and provides a good look, do you think there will eventually be a need to scrub the algae off the rock surfaces? 3. Are water changes essential for this nano tank? How often do you change your water and how much water is changed each time? I look forward to your answers! Thanks in advance! P/S: I like the black background more

Thank you! 1) Sure, you can add one. I often make tanks with no filter when they are not needed (for low bioload tanks like with shrimp or nano fish). I do that to esthetics reasons and to make it simple. But it only works in tanks with live plants. 2) Probably yes, but I will wait to see if they grow more. Sometimes algae look good and can be beneficial (for shrimp and snails). But if they grow to much - I will clean them with some brush 3) Yes, because there is no filter. But I make them every 10 days and not very big. Around 15-20% is absolutely fine. Bigger changes can do more charm and disturb the balance of the tank. I'm glad you liked it! Good luck with your first project! I hope you will find the space for it soon ;)

@AquascapingCube I am thankful for your answers. I think I will have a filtration system in my tank, because I am aiming for a low maintenance tank (and because I plan to travel every now and then, so I need the tank to be low maintenance). I hope to see more content from you. Have a nice day!

That's a great home for some lucky inhabitants 😊 Have you heard of The Brooklyn Hardscape dry start method ? I would love to see if you think it's a good idea and if you do it might be a great addition to your channel just like this awesome video!!!!🙏💚💙🌎

Great work and great video! I have one question: When the water remains stagnant, without any type of circulation, isn't the aquarium more prone to the appearance of filamentous algae or cladophora algae? Thank you!
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 3 месяца назад
Thank you! Yes, that is true. And this is why it's important to adjust the light accordingly (can't be very strong) and maintain the tank. Small water changes, occasional cleaning of the glass and shrimp snails to watch for the rest ;)

Love this tank and I am currently setting up my own nano with moss and dwarf grass inspired by you! Can I ask: how often and for how long are you airing the tank during DSM? I have been doing research and lots of people say DSM causes mould unless properly aired. It seems like a tricky balance of maintaining humidity but also frequent airing. Thanks!
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 2 месяца назад
Thanks! Yes, mold might be an issue. But it depends on your hardscape. If you have only rocks - 5min/day is more then enough (and I even don't open it every day). If you have wood in your tank - there is much bigger problem to keep it mold free. With wood-based hardscape I keep it open at least 30m/day, and still get mold here and there - but it's managable.

@@AquascapingCube just keeping it simple with some lava rocks, no wood, so fingers crossed won't have too much mould. Thanks for the reply.

How long are the lights on per day? And what Lumens per Litre have you set the light to?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 4 месяца назад
A the start it was a lot: 2800 lm (230lm/L), but it was totally unnecessary to use Chihiros. Right now I have 250 lm (12.5lm/L) and it's working just great. I have the light 8hr/day.

So no filter is needed for the shrimp ?

active soil? wtf
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 4 месяца назад
Yes, it is active soil. It means it can influence the water chemistry. Active soil (depending on the type) can lower the pH and hardness. There are many types like: Dennerle Shrimp King, Tropica Aquarium Soil etc.
