Starting a new tank now after about 10 years without. Absolutely going to utilize the no filter, bare minimum tank heavily planted. Cheers

Man, I just saw your other complete beginner video and left a comment where I asked you exactly about a setup like this!! I wonder, when planing properly instead of just using leftovers, what would you do differently? Is it important to use sand on the substrate? I actually like the dark look of the substrate and would prefer it if there is no / not much difference. Really want to build something like this. You should add some links in the descriptions so I can buy everything via your links and you get some money out of it! :)
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Месяц назад
Thank you! No, you don't have to use sand. You can just use dark coloured active soil - and it will work great. With new plants I would definitely include nice and easy carpeting plant like Eleocharis Parvula and some floating plants (Salvinia?). But otherwise I would go with the rest like you saw in the video. Good luck with your project!

Great setup. I did the same but also had a betta. Dirted, with trimmings from my main tank, and no filter. Worked just perfect, no algae problems whatsoever. Pozdro.

Looks amazing. I'm starting my first nano cube atm. How do you stop your snails from climbing out?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 месяцев назад
Thank you! For now my snails are just not leaving :) I make sure that they always have something to eat and in general they are not trying to escape. If they will try - I will have to think of some kind of lid.

Another lovely build. I built my first nano cube inspired by your nano shrimp tank build with the flame moss and spider wood. It’s turned out well but the moss is nothing like as luxurious as yours even after 10 weeks. I dry started for 8 weeks and then added water. Any tips on how to make it grow better? What temperature are you running your tanks at without a heater?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 месяцев назад
Thank you. My tank temp is around 22-23C. What light are you using? Maybe just needs to be a bit more powerful? But what I would do is just give it more time. Moss can be easily covered in algae. I always prefer to grow it slower - but clean.

@@AquascapingCube it’s an Aquel Leddy 4.5W LED. This is the first tank I’ve had for a long time and everything has changed so I’m having to learn as I go. My last tank had fluorescent tubes!

Hello ! Nice video ! Can you tell me please how to cycle this tank ? How often shoul i change the water before i can put inside some shrimps or a beta ?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 4 месяца назад
Thank you! With this kind of tank I do frequent (every 2-3 days), very small water changes (10-15%). I do that for 10-14 days. But a lot of things inside are coming from already established tanks - so it's easier to do. When I'm starting fresh - I extend this period to 18-21 days before any shrimp of fish. Good luck!

Nice job! how often are you going to make the water changes and in what ratio?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 месяцев назад
Thank you! I'm only doing very small water changes (max 20%) once a week. For shrimp it's more than enough.
