Great detailed video. I played as a tank when ESO launched, but stopped for quite sometime and got back to the game in elsweyr chapter. Ever since then I haven't been tanking and was more focused on questing since I have a crappy internet connection. I started getting into dungeons again these 2 - 3 years (obviously I have a better and more stable internet connection), and thinking of getting back into tanking. To get the feel again, I recently created a lowbie just to experience tanking again. With your guides, I'm hoping to do it correctly. Thank you very much for sharing your insights.
That's freaky - today I jumped back in to ESO after hearing about the armory update and deciding that its finally time I try my hand at dungeon tanking, and just as I begin my search for my new build, this video is uploaded!
My favorite tank race is Breton. It does everything you want as a tank just better than anything else. As you mention magicka is your main resource and the spell mitigation is the highest you can get which balances with heavy armor passives. The main thing that puts most people off is the max mag and that you have to allocate points elsewhere but I have noticed a couple of things. One if you want to you can just not slot the passive and two I prefer the max stats and still hit 50k hp without trying and only putting around 14 to 20 points into stam.
Iv been re-learning my DK tank since i left for a bit and this was helpful for a refresher. Plus I forgot how fun tanking was until I started tanking for my sister and 11 year old son to do dungeons with no healer. Honestly can say I enjoy more than dps although my new stamblade build is fun as hell too! 😂
Only thing I could think of to add would be specifically covering the use of the frost staff ranged taunt skill as a substitute while you are leveling the undaunted skill line. You do mention it as an option but beginner tanks may not have the skill line leveled up yet and or not know how to level it up.
If they don't know how to level that skill line up then they need to look up a beginner video for the entire game. Also if they don't have the common sense to use whatever range taunt is available to them first over another one that will take time then they have bigger issues than that. I see what you're saying but yea that's a bit much.
Just found this while switching from solo play to more trials and stuff. To be fair I didn't have any idea on what to do or look for or to do as a tank until I see this. Thanks for the videos mate I've found heaven 😂

For beginner build as a DK I enjoy a mix of tormentor and leaching with the blood spawn Monster set. Sword and board, two handed With dragon leaf and the two handed charge from Morf right I can’t remember what it’s called gives you two AOE taunts then use piercing armor and the chain poor for an additional single target taunts. Only drawback is you don’t really learn how to play the tank without the AOE taunts
I really wish I found this channel when I started tanking would have made my life so much easier. Sitting at almost 1k cp and just now getting off leeching thinking it was an OP set
This helped me a lot. The one thing that made me scratch my head was the Engine Guardian set. Unless I'm missing something, the only way to get this is to do Veteran Darkshade Caverns. Can you do that at CP 0?

Thank you for this, as a main healer moving to tank class this helped incredibly well. I'm not a fan of DPS builds, I maybe rare in saying this but I find DPS boring and irritating and playing as a healer watching DPS players (the not so good ones) just do whatever the F they want (ignoring AOEs or ignoring positioning) has absolutely put me off playing them.
And one more - you cannot play DPS well if your healer or tank does not play well. Either you loose dps for selfheal/buff or risk beeing wiped with fake tank/healer. I enjoy to play as healer and now start to learn how to tank on my alt.
@@mzawadzk Fake tanks on low level dungeons, fine we can push through. Fake healers however do my nut in. Tank and DPS need a healer to help with restoring magic and stamina as well as taking heals -like you said- so DPS and tank can focus on rotations rather than self heals. Later dungeons you don't get fake tanks too much but if you're fake healing you can tell straight away and it's annoying for everyone. To me that's an auto vote kick. Everyone hates the healer until they want something

I made a Templar Redgaurd Tank before the last crazy skill rework. I didn't play the time but I wasn't unfamiliar with how tanks worked sense I've tanked in other mmos. I see why I shouldn't use a Templar but it was still fun to not die for an ungodly amount of time 🤣. My wins were draws because I didn't do damage and couldn't be killed lol.
While usually playing magicka dps, I decided I wanted to try out tank, and I immediately went and created a nord warden cause warden looked interesting to me as a tank, I'm not screwed as a brand new tank am I? :D
I want to try tanking but it is intimidating :D but I want to try it. I like playing healer so I want to try this too. Also, what motif do you use for armo and weapon/shield in this video? It looks cool :D
Hey man thanks so much for your video's ! I was wondering ... I have all my skills that I need. Was wondering what I should spend my skill points on ? Ether metal work ? Or wood work ? Or should I specials in alchemy ? I dont know about makeing things as to me I find drops to be better ?
You can save those skill points because sometime you have skills that you need for only a few situations. All crafting is useful at some point so it's up to you.
The combustion causes more issues for magdk than stam dk, I run a StamDK but have actually quit using it as my main since the nerf, but I will make a DK tank
Balance cost health, reduces shield strength, and healing received. That is a lot of negative trade off for just 3,000 magicka return. I know that it is tank doctrine to use balance, but I personally think it just stresses young tanks. I would Love to see someone do a mathematical analytical assessment to see if the benefit really is worth the cost.
Well I have covered the use of Balance in another video. The 4 seconds that you have weaker shields and healing is not ever an issue and you will heal yourself back to full just with Health recovery within 4-6 seconds more or less. If a healer is healing you, then you are back at full within 1 second even with the worst of healers. On a 40-45k Health Tank, having infinite sustain is far better than anything else you could want which is what Balance offers you basically.
Is this an ESO tank guide or DK tank guide? I can't see the differences, you're super biased with DKs honestly, but still great content, as always, ty for the job.
He tells you in the video [it's a tank build, mentioning DK as it is the easiest to tank with for an absolute noob that doesnt know up from down. Any class can tank some harder to get used to, he uses DK for noob, because of sustain and damage mitigation is way easier, he also says use this class to get used to tanking, then when you are comfortable change class and experiment until you find the class you want to tank with, he is biased towards DK due to the ease of using them. Just like magplar is the easiest healer to use but once you get used to healing you can change class]
