Usually a mug is 1lb of clay. You can wet the bat but I find that it causes my clay to detach after applying pressure to center it. You can get away with not kneading it from the bag (I usually just pat the cut square of clay into a sphere) and slam the sphere into the center of the wheel. Pat it down for reinforcement, wet your hands and start. Have fun!
Wet the wheel before u put the clay on it. And knead the clay by pushing ur weight down on it from the shoulders. Not the wrists. It’d be best to not be delicate when kneading clay lol.
How do you bisque ware your clay? Do you have a kiln? I’m so curious because I do want to do potter so bad and I lasted thought you have to have everything like the kiln and such but where did you get your potter wheel from?

If you're interested in starting but don't have experience, look for a local pottery supply shop. They'll usually either have their own kiln or be connected with one, and there will be a club or class they can recommend to you.

I wouldn't recommend buying such an expensive wheel as a beginner, it's like buying pro paints as a beginner painter, it's a waste There are many used ones that can be used for this
You look as if you are having so much fun. Your not going. To get it the first seven or eight times..it takes practice as with any kind of art. Practice practice practice.. having fun is the main thing..take care..
