Hello there fellow model makers. I know that the title of this video is slightly misleading. It should clarify that this is for airbrush beginners. However, I have since then put together a beginners' series for hand painting a kit as well. Good that you clarify this. Using an airbrush, the decal fluids and the Tamiya glue all don't fit with the idea of 'building your first kit'. I bought a kit from series (the F4 Corsair) and built it using just the paint, glue and brush provided in the package. In the end I wasn't happy with the light grey tires and blue propellor and went out to get some paint to change those and yellow for the propellor-tips. And picked up two new kits and some paints to go with them.
Airbrushing a starter kit defeats the purpose of showing a starter kit build. No beginner owns expensive tools such as compressor and airbrush. Hell i didn't even have the basic tools when i started. Painted all my starter models with the tools provided.
Great video series however, I'm pretty sure beginners won't have half the tools you were using especially the air brush. You should have painted by brush for this series.
I know mate. That is why since then I have made two video series using only a brush. It's on the channel. Please do take a look, I put in some hard work into them :)
I notice you removed the small attachment prongs from the wings.. was this intentional?. As a beginner i am quite unsure how far i am meant to go with regards to making alterations to the pieces provided. I recently did a spitfire airfix and now this is my first Revell model and so i am comparing kits as i go. Cheers for your Video i will take somethings from it even if i don't own a airbrush. For beginners oil paints are excellent choice because you can strip down all bad paint with paint thinner and start over. Also, oil paints perform a LOT better when brush painting, which is what most beginners do anyway.

Thanks Ethan. Yes the theme is from the movie. In fact its been used in over 50 movies. Actually, its the Colonel Bogey March composed by Lt. Ricketts in 1914. During WW2 it became a sort of an anthem of resistance and defiance for the British and later Canadian forces. Lyrics were added: "Goering/Hitler has only got one b_ll" however these were later watered down to "Hitler I bet you can't catch me". Many regiments till date use it for a quick time march past. The tune, it is said, was inspired by Rickett's fellow golfer who would whistle the opening two notes instead of shouting fore on the course. Over time, Colonel Bogey or Bogey became a standard golfing term and means playing a hole one over par. And since the Spitfire is as big a symbol of British defiance and valour as there is, I thought it would be apt to use Colonel Bogey as well :) Thanks again.
Thanks Daniel. So, for this video I tried to show that you can use artist gloss and matt varnish which work fine in case you don't have access to specialized varnishes made specifically for modelling. When I started off, it was very hard to get specialized paints and varnishes in India, mostly because it was very difficult to send them via air. So, for a very long time I relied on W&N products. Which are very good. But it's just so much more convenient using Pledge/Future. Ever since I managed to lay my hands on a bottle I have been using Pledge only. So if you do have Pledge/Future use it. But, in case it is not available you can use W&N varnish just as easily only you will have to thin it down so that the airbrush does not spit and clog :)
Scale Modelling Madness You also mised to explain the first thing you should do, and thats washing all sprues in warm water and detergent to remove all grease from all parts in order to have colour applying on plastic better.
