Just now seeing this! There are several things I love about this video: 1) We get to see Olympic-level form and execution from Pope. 2) We get to see a complete novice working their way up to the full execution. 3) We get to see all of the tries and retries and more retries it takes to get the moves right. 4) We have a coach who is not there to stroke the ego, but just to get the novice to focus on perfect form and execution. 5) MEG.KEEPS.TRYING! She keeps taking all of the advice in stride, always with poise and positive self-talk. I could watch this video 100 more times and be way better off than I am when I watch 99% of the ego-stroking crap on lifting available online. Bravo ladies, and I enjoy Max's disciplined approach to coaching. I love seeing form videos with women in them - please keep posting content like this - it helps so many people!
You were on point with everything. I was watching this vid with much joy and your comment summarized it perfectly. But to point 5, that is it what made the vid. Ofcourse you need someone who knows what they're saying but someone who keeps trying is the most important part. Much love❤
Yes honestly. That was fantastic. The greatest thing I took from this video was even a professional like Meg needs practice to master the technique. I'm gonna go at gym today and practice this. Wish me luck
I truly appreciate seeing some strong AF women in these training videos, because usually I’m seeing men. I’m showing these videos to my daughter, and she loves seeing you both as well. It’s great seeing a beginner and a pro in the same video! Thank you to all!
Just be aware a lot of these chicks are on gear. Squats is natty but Pope is juicing here. I know your comment is several years old but SARMS and other PEDs are rampant within the fitness community, if you see a woman sporting a physique that would make men jealous, especially across the shoulders, the odds of her being natural are close to zero. If your daughter never gets big and muscly like that it's not because she isn't good enough, it's because these fake natties are giving people a bad idea of what is naturally achievable.
I stayed up until nearly one AM in my living room practicing this in front of my laptop. Metcon shoes and boxer shorts, trying to get that hip pop right.
Great video. It's hard to find instructional videos where the person being taught is strong and coordinated but hasn't actually done the movement before. I have been having a lot of similar problems getting my timing down, etc. and seeing Meg work through that stuff was super helpful.
As someone new to weightlifting, this video has been helpful. I'm 55, and the last thing I need is to learn something the wrong way...recovery process from injury is too darn slow...so, the details in this video are a huge help! Thanks!!!
Glad you liked it. Make sure to check out this video for Masters Lifters (Over 35 years old) too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-34Zj3lem3fQ.html
Thank y'all so much for this video. It's so helpful to see not just how to do it, but a beginner learn how not to do this as well. The explicit, detailed, focused, and meaningful instruction is equally important. I really can't overstate how useful this is as a novice without resources for a dedicated coach. It's also amazing that you're willing to provide this freely on RU-vid, it's a boon to the lifting community as a whole to have quality, accessible instruction to ensure people don't get hurt. Again, thank you.
Finally!! You guys helped me out so much with the snatch equivalent of this video. Both were extremely helpful and helped me notice a lot of minute details that I didn't realize were so important. Thank you!
I just really appreciate watching someone get coached like this, and appreciate Meg's persistence and talking through it. Great video for medium beginners like me. Thanks for this!
I learned so much by watching her work through the process of learning. Being a beginner is so much fun with the right type of coach. He was patient and helped her minimize mistakes little by little.
Great no nonsense coaching, just shows what you can learn in a short space of time and more importantly how to the technique prevents injury as you progress through the weight.
Great coaching session! In my 4th month in Crossfit. I followed the whole session with my PVC pipe. According to WODIFY we're doing this in the morning in our Metcon. Because of you guys I feel won'f feel as awkward and lost as i normally do. A big THANKS to all 3 of you! ;-)
The thing that made the biggest difference to me was realizing that I shouldnt pull it off the floor like a deadlift. The bar should be further away from you that it would during a deadlift. That way it's much easier to bounce it off of your legs.
I've really been struggling with the technique for this exercise, and there just isn't enough time with the trainer to cover all of the intricacies to a novice like me. This video is extremely helpful, thank you so much for sharing.
Love it! I am a beginner/intermediate weight trainer but I am very interested in CrossFit lifting techniques and these videos with Meg have been SUPER helpful in form correction/training! Keep em coming please!
Thanks a lot for this video. It seems that there aren't many detailed guides about this on youtube. This video really helps a lot and clears some easy mistakes that you can do as a beginner.
Amazing. He made her do that clean more than 20 times. Amazing coach. Meg kudos to you such a positive attitude. Its gonna be very helpful to people who are going to try this and make the same mistakes. This video shows that even a professional like Meg needs practice and confidence to master this. Keep grinding guys
Bravo and thank you. I'm self coaching and have been troubled in the second pull. Your vids have helped me discern a duo of problems...not keeping bar close and throwing my hips, ever so subtle, forward. Thanks again!
This video is so useful. What's great about it is that you can just follow along yourself, sort of like getting a free lesson (minus someone there to critique your form obviously). Somehow it just feels easier to get the cues into my head than a short video on form cues.
I am learning myself and thought there was a lot of really great information in this video. I feel like the drills are going to help me a lot with both form and technique.
Meg I really appreciate hearing you say often in this tutorial, “I can do it!” I’m new to this sport and the explosive timing of the contract with the clean is intimidating. You helped to reflect on my own chatter during this process. I going in tomorrow and hope to change of the chatter to a more positive tone! Thanks to all three of you for such a helpful tutorial.
Two great videos! Kris, Max and the JTS are my favourites. Their vids have fuelled my recent take up of Olympic lifting. Would love to see the instruction and training of the various component parts.
Such an awesome video. I have no attention span and I sat through the entire video, the coaching was so concise and helpful and it was so insightful to see the improvement of each rep. Great content!
This is an awesome video !!! It's a complex move, no doubt. But, great to see a pro, a coach and a novice doing it together.. Bookmarked and subscribed.
