To add onto another comment each Daedric Prince can take on whatever appearance they want. Also each one has their own realm. For example the Daedric Lord of the hunt and Father of the werebeasts, Hircine, has his realm The Hunting Grounds which is pretty self explanatory. Or the Daedric Lord of Bargaining and Deals, Clavicus Vile, has his The Fields of Regret. And each one has a sphere of influence and artifact (though some might have more than one). Like Nocturnal who is the patron of thieves. Her Daedric artifact is the Skeleton Key a lockpick that never breaks. And has the potential to unlock ANYTHING

I recommend focusing on chunks of information because of how dense it is, a video detailing the aedra and daedra, and then a different video on a specific race (like khajiit or Dunmer). Camelworks and Fudgemuppet are pretty solid and really entertaining in doling out the lore, and they've actually collaborated. Under Our Lord and Benefactor Eternal The Aedric Lord of E3 Stages, Godd "Todd" Howard, there will never be a solid "answer" to a lot of the battles and conflicts in Tamriel. His policy is to leave the conflict they're currently spotlighting with the current game in a completely open ended state so the player is not unduly influenced to pick a "canon ending". The player will just play as they want and the cards will fall were they may. Because of this there will always be times skips and room for argument with every version of the game series. Every answer is the right answer and history is written by the modders, especially the naked ones.

A lot of people think its influenced by psychedelics but in reality a lot of the weird stuff is actually based in hindu and buddhist belief with a heavy dose of gnosticism. I do think that for someone new it is just really hard to latch onto something so expansive with one video or even be able to explain that much in one video. I think that, while they do a decent job presenting it digestibly in this video, the other videos that are more focused on one part of the lore will likely be a lot more engaging. They do a fantastic job at breaking down individual aspects of the lore the most with videos about everything from the Empire to the Daedric gods or even individual videos about each individual daedric god just in case the overview video has you more curious about a specific one. They do a great job and I hope you guys have a great time finding out more about the world 😄

One aspect of Elder Scrolls lore that is not always very present in the game unless you look for them, is that there is a lot of esoteric stuff that's INTENDED to confuse you. Different sources claiming opposite things, lots of allegorical retellings, and even cosmic fuckery that appears to retroactively change timelines. Personally, I find this very fun to delve into, like putting together a puzzle, but obviously it's not to everyone's liking. Several of ES's most important characters are also pretty complex, like Tiber Septim being both a badass warrior and great general, but very likely also a backstabbing bastard and potentially sexual predator (it's complicated), or Vivec, an awesome Loki-like trickster and mystic warrior-poet who also is absolutely brainwashing his subjects in order to make his cult of personality bigger due to sheer egomania. Some people view Lorkhan creating the world as a terrible betrayal that trapped them in the mortal realm, while others see it as a great realization of paternal love. And so on. Also there's a lot of philosophical stuff which draws a lot from Buddhism and existentialism. IF you're looking for it, lol. Oh, and one time a dude has sex with a hill and impregnated it.

One thing he skipped over was what the Elder Scrolls actually are, and that usage of them creates Dragon Breaks: time skips, where things happened, but they didn't ACTUALLY happen, but they kinda did, and it gets confusing lol. The reason the stuff from TES5 happened is because back in the First Era when the Dragons were ruling over people, they were all banished by use of an Elder Scroll, to the far future. Guess when that far future is: 4th Era 201 :P The same thing happened with the destruction caused by the Numidium.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah but it's been in the works for nearly 8 years now, it will definitely be ready in 2-3 years. And you guys should also watch the videos which describe the stories of the individual Elder Scrolls games. That should definitely clear out any confusion you may have about the lore.

Fudgemuppet asserted that Alduin forsook his charge by ruling tyrannically. However, he needed Nords to die in battle to gain powerby consuming them in Sovenguarde. He needed to free Ulfric because he needed Talos alive to respawn Nirn. Had the dominion won the Civil War, Talos would be too weak to fulfill his purpose.

Yeah it's a pretty high level overview. Pretty much every single single topic touched on can be a video of its own, and in fact there is a good chance that fudgemuppet has already made one.

so as I said at your Fallout Lore series, if you want more bitesized chunks simmilar to fallout you do, the same Channel - ShoddyCast has even Elder Scrolls series that delve into the lore more deeply but each part dedicated to single aspect

Something that was glossed over (probably because there's no way to simplify it for beginners) is that in The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, an event happens which causes all the alternate endings of that game to be canon and not canon at once. It's either called a "Dragon Break" or a "Time Break" and it involves the giant statue the dwarfs made activating in those alternate endings. It's kinda like "Oh in this ending everyone's alive but in this one they're all dead? How are we going to make a sequel? Dragon Break time." I tried simplifying that and probably got something wrong, it's not easy.

One thing I feel they should have mentioned is that the Aldmeri Dominion is slowly falling apart from the inside now as the Khajiit and Bosmer are getting fed up of being treated as second class by the Altmer again. (They had this issue in ESO too) so its likely there will be internal conflict soon

I started playing ES games with Arena and Daggerfall and moved on with each new game. I DO go back once a year and play the same 'style' character through all the games. Halloween and Christmas always find me doing an RP in Skyrim. Though I mostly play ESO now. The lore is awesome, and just when you think you've read every book, a new chapter, DLC or game comes out to add more. IF you really love the lore and are a reader, The Imperial Library is a great resource. I didnt want to link it but it will come up under TES Imperial Library. I love reading the books for the entertainment , but I also absorb the lore along the way.

Ah yes, this is the airplane pamphlet of elder scrolls stuff, I've even listened to the 8 hour version... or morrowind alone. You know, the short audiobooks some people put out for one of the half dozen games.

Wasn't there a race left out, the falmer who live underground and are blind. I know they were originally descended, from the snow elves I think. But are they now not their own race, or are they still considered snow elves?

You should react to the trailers of a game called Enderal. It was originally a Total Conversion Mod for Skyrim but later on, it became a Standalone game, known as Enderal: Forgotten Stories. Also, the game is free on Steam. The original Enderal requires Skyrim Legendary Edition and Enderal Special Edition does not require Skyrim

another interesting thing about elders scrolls is the books. in the games you can find all sorts of books, everywhere.....some are about the lore, but others arent even related to the games....i've found cooking books, there's of course the lusty argonian maid(which is quite an entertaining read), and i read even a novel.....i spent like 30 minutes reading it. it didnt help me a bit in the games, but it was very entertaining.

The writer of the lore literally Hunter S Thompsoned the plot. Locked himself into a hotel room with all the drugs, and banged it out in a week.
@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames
😯 is that true? Or just what it feels like?
@acrab6527
@acrab6527 Год назад
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames No literally. Michael Kirkbride. He insisted it was just booze, but then after he got fired he admitted it was drugs. At one point, a time travelling robot from the future comes back in time to exterminate all elves, and everyone thinks he's a knight who won't take his armor off, sent by the gods as a saint
